Went to a presentation on Skymed, does anyone have experience with this company? I hope thier basic buisness model is not like the auto repair service contract companies whose basic buisness model is to keep as much money as possible and pay out as little as they can. Thanks

X2, it is what our economic system was founded and thrives on. To produce a good or service for the lowest possible cost and sell it for the maximum the market will bear.
Hopefully you will receive a constructive answer from someone who has actual experience with SkyMed services.
We subscribe to SkyMed, but fortunately have had no need of their services. Like any insurance, you purchase it hoping you will never need it and that the provider will come through if you do need it.

I wanted to respond to the person about Skymed...I personally have Skymed and have known at least 10 people who have used it for a variety of reasons while traveling...In my opinion, anyone traveling away from home (even those who want good coverage at home),, needs to purchase the plan that includes the helicopter, ambulance, primary driver disability, and 100 mile waiver (coverage at home)...
The person who said they have it but never used it were basically saying that having it has been a great PEACE of MIND while traveling. A peace of mind not only for ourselves but also for our children. I think we forget those at home when deciding something like this emergency medical transportation coverage...We just don't know what might happen..We have heard that people will be 5 times more likely to need this coverage than fire insurance on our homes.
