Hi all, DH and I are headed across country in a few weeks, we have wanted to do this for a while, so we are going now. We have driven across country many times (thanks to the Navy transferring us) but this time we have our 5th wheel. Not sure of all the routes to take, we'll figure it out as we go.LOL. Any suggestions on places on the way we should be sure to stop? Most likely I-90, I-74, and others in the middle states, not far south. We are going to visit family in MD so we aren't spending a lot of time in any one place until we get there. Can't wait, I have gypsy in my soul!LOL!
See ya! Marie

If you are traveling from North west Washington the most scenic way to go is #20 all the way to Montana went that way last week it was great.

Do you mean WA 20 to Idaho, and US2 on to Montana?
It sounds as though the OP is familiar with the western part of the trip (I90).

Just in case http://www.militarycampgrounds.us/
Link might not work but that's the web site anyways.
(To cheap to buy new)
1990 37 ft 5th wheel that hasn't moved since 1996 (our best home)
1997 33 ft trailer (winter home in much warmer climate)
2005 25 ft M/H (our "stand up B" for traveling)

If you're looking for places to overnight consider:
Free Campgrounds
Free Campsites
Casino Camper,
also, while traveling we like to use Roadside America to find interesting stops along the way.
Enjoy your trip and thanks for your service.

If sticking to the interstates, I-74 to I-70 is a good way to avoid Chicago and the Illinois, Indiana and Ohio toll roads. In PA, take I-79 South to I-68 East back to I-70 East to avoid the tolls on the PA turnpike where I-70/76 is a toll road. I-70 ends at the Baltimore Beltway I-695 which will get you to I-97 and Annapolis where you can pick up US-301/50 to the Eastern Shore.
Safe travels!

Thanks for the info, we'd definitely like to avoid toll roads. I will make note of your info for our trip.
