RE: braking

I have a 14K 5th and my brakes will not lock with either the prodigy or a GM intergrated controller when you are moving slowly but when I hit the brakes in a panic stop they work just fine.

RE: Trailer brakes?

Make sure you used the correct wiring harness for the 04 vehicle. Sometime between 02 and 05 GM made a small change in the wiring harness that changed the hot wire.
I used a 02 harness on an 05 GM and had a similar problem. Hope it is something this simple, only needed to move one wire made all the difference in the world.

RE: Insect / dauber screens for Atwood appliances

I use a piece of screen fabric held on with ribbon magnets over the water heater and the central heat. I use 3/4" pipe insulation cut to length and stuck in the reefer vents. Of course you have to remove them for use.

RE: Bugs on the front of the 5th wheel from traveling

When I am cleaning my rig after a trip I wet the front down every five to ten minutes while I am washing the rest of the rig. by the time I get around to the front 90% of the bugs come off with just a wet brush a few require a little more brushing but not much. Just keep the front wet for 45 minutes to an hour.

RE: info on insurance

Your liability is covered under the tow vehicle. Liability is all that is required in texas but if you want coverage for storms and fire etc that will be listed under your RV.

A couple of easy questions

1. How thick are new brake shoes on a trailer? The reason I ask is that I checked mine last year and on my 2005 HR I had 3/16" left on all pads. I am just trying to see how much they have worn since new.
2.Do you take your TPMS off of your tires when it is parked for a couple of months? I have the new TST type that have changeable batteries. The old ones I had I always took them off when parked should I do the same with the new ones?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Can anyone tell me if there is still construcyion between Texarkana and Hot springs Ark. on I 30? I have been told it is down to one lane with 30 to 45 minute delays. East bound!

RE: Axle alignment video

It looks like that would kink the axle and leave a weak spot like someome said earlier. You are told not to jack a tire up using the axle so how can they ndo that???
Very intresting video though. I always wondered how they lined up the axles. Thanks for sharing.

Warranty is for 5 years or 100,000 miles. You might want to contact Dexter.

RE: Terrible ride, mostly solved

What load range tires are you running on your truck. My load range E tires only carry 3042lbs. with 80 psi. You show your tires at 3640 lbs on a 2500????????
Thats a lot of tire.

Since this started after the AC's were removed and reinstalled I am betting on a loose connection in the AC.

RE: Protrusion under floor?

Is it under linoleum? If so I would carefully cut a small X over it and tighten the screw back down. Then you can glue the linoleun down and you will never know its there.

RE: Fresh Water Tank draining

If you leave the water sitting in the tank long enough it will turn bad, I don't care how much clorine it has in it. As long as you are using it on a regular basis through the summer it should not be a problem.
I helped my neighbor winterize his RV last year and it had been sitting for a couple of months in the Texas heat. When I pulled the plug on the water heater it smelled like rotten eggs.
I am not a germafobe but I am cautious.

RE: Carrier AC question

Thanks for your reply NC. In playing with this unit the only time the compressor comes on without the fan is the first time I turn it on with the remote and run the temp down until the unit comes on. When it cycles and comes back on it works fine. Maybe it isn't as big of a problem as I thought it might be.
I will call someone when I get back home.

Carrier AC question

I have two carrier AC's on my RV. Today one of them started acting funny. When I start it the compressor comes on but the fan does not. I waited a little while until I started the fan manually. The fan works fine on low high and auto but I have to sart it manually.
Any ideas. As always you help is appreciated.

RE: New GM Tow Vehicle Clearance Issue

I have decided if they keep jacking the rear ends of these newer trucks up the next one I buy will be without a bed and I will put on one of the utility beds that cost about 3K. I don't know how much less the truck will cost without a bed but I will find out next time.
