RE: 2013 RAM HDs driven/tested

It wasn't too long ago that a retired couple in their Super Duty 7.3 psd challenged me and I dusted him too. :B
I will say two things. 1st of all the 7.3 is still running a decade later. 2 thumbs up!
2nd off I think I still have a 68 VW Bug that would dust it also :B They were upgraded that year to something like 40 HP....
I'm to old for drag racing nowadays, especially on public roads. But maintaining speed pulling up the Grapevine at 24k lbs is sweet. Even better to go the posted speed limit (35 MPH) down the back side without touching the service brakes. That there is priceless.

RE: Stopped by the Ram dealer

Turn and earn scheme
I know my local town Dodge dealer shut down during the down turn, it is now just a Chevy dealer only. Next closest Dodge dealer was in Coeur d Alene at Tom Addis. He sold Fords and Dodge. Last year they also lost, or dropped the Dodge side of the dealership :M
Many Dodge dealership's were and still are upset at Dave Smith Motors. Having said that, they still don't have any 2013 3500's.

RE: Stopped by the Ram dealer

Well if we don't get on the stick we will run out of the new 8 speed transmissions and the new 9 speed delays have pushed the new Liberty launch back to late June. To say Sergio is mad an understatement, look to see more of the UMC boys and girls hitting the road. Very busy at the plant right now, a lot of area managers and up are playing coveryourbutt right now.
Don
Don you don't have time to be posting on this forum :B Get back to the drawing board and make some of those hitch rails that will fit the new 2013 tow package holes. Really thoughtful of the Ram suits. WTF were they thinking of :H

RE: Got stuck.....

I wonder what people with Prevost's do? :h I haven't seen a 4x4 Prevost yet. :B
LOL
They camp on the expensive asphalt pads :B
Funny I was talking with the salesman on the phone couple of weeks ago. He ask what I wanted on the truck. I mentioned 4WD and he said " we don't order anything with 2 WD "

RE: 2008 f250 disel milage

Not to good at MPG unless deleted. Then you might get about 10 or 11. They sure can make oil though :W Do yourself a favor and just skip ahead to the the 6.7 PSD.

RE: 2013 RAM HDs driven/tested

We'll know the hurt locker test soon enough.
My guess is Ram will bring up the rear like the previous one, the one before that, and every other test since the beginning....
Your guess's are like your power ball numbers, wrong again :B

RE: Stopped by the Ram dealer

Order bank opens on June 5th ( about 2 weeks) for the MY 2014 which is the direction I'm going.
No offence Jim but those 1st year runs can be a real learning experience.
$3k must be a real A$$ pleasure with the Longhorn leather. Just me but my A$$ ain't that picky, a Laramie will suit my behind fine just as it does now.
I understand the 2013 don't have the Longhorn stitching, that alone might win me over to one. Hate the cowboy theme personally.

ATF-4 here but I use a 20k intervial instead of 30k. Little gun shy after owning a 47 :B

RE: Any 13' Ram DEF MPG yet?

How's that new truck towing now? Oh wait, they don't have the hitch plates ready yet! Really bad designing, engineering IMO. How it the heck can they sell the trailer/tow package and not have one available at time of purchase. Must be a Fred Diaz thing :H
Hopefully you'll have something available before winter hit's Jim, if not I have a old tractor engine you can borrow :B
What were they (Ram) thinking about? Just another reason I don't buy first year runs I guess. I'm still jealous though :B

RE: A question about transmissions

When Dodge added exhaust brakes to the Cummins, they found that a thrust washer in the trans would suffer from compression braking. So it was replaced with a different design (in 06).
The odd thing is lots of guys had been using EB's and had not reported any problems with "thrust washers".
If it were me, I would get one of the controllers you spoke of and enjoy the benefits. You may also find and EB would be nice.
Just keep in mind that it's possible you may have trans damage eventually.
X2 for the most part
No doubt a Cummins going downhill is like a anchor in water, zero braking.
I would skip the Jacobs and look at the Pac Brake setup with your 47.
The 47's were the weak link that every OB guys talk about, and remind us about.
But like Scott said, I'd use one but be ready for the damage down the road at some point.
Good Luck

RE: 2013 Ram 3500 Good Deal Or Not

They sure didn't give up much information :H They listed "grey" not white. Whitefish is like a 4 hour drive for me, I'll just wait for Ben to call me when the train arrives with almost a thousand of em :B Thank you

RE: 2013 Ram 3500 Good Deal Or Not

If you want to feel and drive one then goto the dealer and drive a 13 2500. There should be plenty of them at the dealer to drive. I know there are a few more differences between the 2500 and 3500 now than in the previous years but it should drive very similiar.
Apple and Oranges IMO. Like you said, there are many differences to the frame, suspension. I'm surely not going to test drive a Chevy and compare it to a Cadillac :B

Last I heard they should be in stock next week.
