RE: Plugging in at home between trips

We always leave ours plugged in. We do have a multistage charger manufactured by Progressive Dynamics which eliminates over charging of the batteries, still check the water level about every 3 months but can't recall the last time I had to top them off.

RE: Considering an RV Garage

When we considered building one for our small class A, the response from everyone was why spend money to cover something that should not be there?? Use the money to buy gas, and go! So we did.
Good point, but the hot Arizona climate takes a toll on everything even for what little time it would be here.

Considering an RV Garage

We are considering to have built a 30x30x14 garage (we know bigger is better but this fits our budget) built on our level property to house our Travel Trailer from the weather when not being used.
The bid I am considering is:
We propose to supply and erect one (1) 30’ x 30’ x 14’ w/1/12 pitch steel building on your LEVEL site to include the following:
1) 4” concrete slab w/ footings and foundation as per the engineer’s specifications
2) One (1) 12’ x 12’ roll-up door
3) One (1) 3-0 x 7-0 walk door
4) Simple Trim
5) Color walls and galvalume roof
6) Plans, permits and engineering
Excluded:
1)Site Prep
2)Insulation
3)All utilities
4)Drives and approaches
5)Termite pre-treat
6)Geo-tech and over excavation
Cost for the above approximately 31k.
I know prices vary quite a bit depending on geographical location, but just wondering is this a good ballpark figure to consider ?
Additional items that we may add:
Electrical
Concrete approach apron approx 10'x30'
Is there anything else that I may have overlooked ?

RE: Using springbars with chains on BAL/NORCO frame

Complete the removal of the e2 hitch and installed my eaz-lift with the equalizer bars with chains, easy swap the only labor intensive piece was shortening the bolts that attach the link plate to the frame so they clear the spare tire.
When we purchased our new trailer I listened to the dealer who said that the only hitch that would work with the BAL/NORCO frame was the e2 hitch manufactured by Progress manufacturing, the dealer may be correct if they installed the proper link plates rather than the universal link plates that come standard with the e2 hitch. After waiting over 30 days since placing an order for the correct link plates I decided there had to be a better alternative solutions to correct the constant shifting of the universal link plates that are provided with the e2 Hitch. The e2 is not the only hitch that will work on the BAL/NORCO frame.

Using springbars with chains on BAL/NORCO frame

Is anyone using springbars with chains on the BAL/NORCO frame rather than the E2 hitch recommended by Lance. I am tired of constantly having to readjust the link plates that are provided with the E2 hitch from shifting on the frame.
I have an eaz-lift hitch in my shop with the 750lb spring bars w/chains and would like to use them on my Lance trailer.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: intel-core vs AMD

I have always been a diehard Intel Processor user then I tried an AMD quad core processor and so far been quite impressed with it. Basic use is Excel, Word, Filemaker Pro, some photo editing, listening to music and some videos. Overall I am very impressed with it. The following link should give you an overview of the AMD product line. Hope it helps in your decision.

RE: new tt due in end of month, but still waiting for hitch

On May 4th. I ordered the inner and outer Link Plates for my hitch through e-Trailer and just yesterday received an email from e-Trailer informing me that they are currently in production for our distribution facility and they should have them on hand ready to ship the week of May 20th. Seems that more and more companies are not keeping stock on hand because of cost so they order the parts from the manufacture when an order is placed. Don't you just love it..... :S

RE: E2 Hitch and BAL/NORCO Frame

Seems that most new Lance and other Travel Trailer owners with the BAL/NORCO frame are provided from the dealer the E2 Hitch with the universal inner and outer Link Plates that attach to the BAL/NORCO frame, These Link Plates are incorrect for the BAL/NORCO Frame and either have to be shimmed to fill the gap at the bottom to eliminate the constant shifting on the frame or replaced with the proper Link Plates made specifically for the BAL/NORCO frame.
I contacted the manufacture who confirmed that there are different Link Plates for the BAL/NORCO frame, the part numbers for the Universal Link Plates and those manufactured specifically for the BAL/NORCO frame are listed below;
Part #'s for the Universal Inner and Outer Link Plates:
Part # 93-02-5200 Inner Link Plate
Part # 93-02-5350 Outer Link Plate
Part #'s for the BAL/NORCO Inner and Outer Link Plates:
Part # 90-02-5204 Inner Link Plate
Part # 90-02-5374 Outer Link Plate
The manufacture informed me that once these link plates are installed and adjusted properly they should eliminate the constant Link Plate shifting on the BAL/NORCO frame.
Hope this is of help for those with BAL/NORCO trailer frames which have been around since the early 90's. NOT just Lance trailers but other manufactures as well.

RE: Removable towing mirror suggestions.

Hands down the best I ever used were McKesh
Easy on and off and virtually vibration free.If I were still towing with a pick-up I would still be using them.
x2 - Still using them today, have optional Convex mirrors. Best we found after trying numerous other brands which vibrated and were difficult to adjust.

RE: Help with converter and battery charging...

From what I've heard the WFCO's don't go into bulk or fast charge mode easily. And a 35 amp charger won't charge dual batteries very fast.
My old HTT had a single-stage Elixir converter that wasn't good at charging my batteries (dual G27's.) I bought a deck-mount Iota 55-amp converter from Randy and mounted it in the front pass-through. I drilled a hole in the floor and ran the charging cables (all 3' of them) to the batteries. The Iota was powered by an extension cord plugged into my Honda 2000.
I traded the HTT but kept the Iota. It'll go in the front pass through again but I tapped into a bedroom outlet and ran a 115V line with a switched outlet into the pass through. The Iota will get screwed to the pass through ceiling to save floor space (and keep it from getting beat up.)
I had a local car stereo shop make cables for me. $1 / ft for very flexible 8-ga cable and $1 each for gold plated ring connectors crimped on.
The new TT just got refitted with LED lighting, and I put an on-off switch on the radio / DVD player so the current draw is ZERO when the unit is "off." My only full-time load now is 100ma for the propane detector.
The Iota is hard wired to the batteries but I have a disconnect switch between the batteries and trailer 12V circuits. When I'm on generator the full output of the Iota will go to the batteries and the factory WFCO converter will power the rest of the TT. WFCO's don't need a battery to supply clean 12V power.
I recently upgraded my TT and I kept the IOTA DLS45 (45amp) Series M with the IOTA Smart Charger IQ4 from my previous trailer and was hoping to use it somewhere, sometime. The new TT has a WF8955 (55amp) and dual G27's currently. I was thinking of swapping out the WF8955 and installing the DLS45 but when I read your post there seems to be a better use for the DLS45 without removing the WF8955. Could you share what is the best way for me to accomplish similar results to what you have ?. My Honda EU2000i is what I use to charge my batteries when boondocking.
Thanks

E2 Hitch and BAL/NORCO Frame

I have the E2 hitch and need to order the Inside and Outside Link Plates (Inside Part # 90-02-5204 - Outside Part # 90-02-5374) made specifically for the BAL/Norco Frame. The Link below shows the outside Link Plate but the picture does not show if the two center holes are recessed to clear the frame for bolts to mount the L bracket too ?
And would you use Grade 5 or Grade 8 bolts for attaching the Link Plates to the frame.

I use it all over the trailer, decals, lenses, rubber and plastics. Decals stay shiny and keep there color. Just washed my awning and sprayed it with 303..
I buy it by the gallon and CW.

The KramaLot Inn comes out of Retirement

Kramalot Inn
The Kramalot Inn has finally found a new place to call home.
As many of you know we had sold our previous TT last year anticipating an upgrade to a newer model and much to our surprise we had a difficult time finding a TT that met our requirements. We had looked at over 40 to 50 different manufacture models, attended numerous RV shows and toured the Lance Factory in California and we decided that quality and fitness was only met with the Lance.
We decided that the Lance model 1885 or 1995 were possible candidates so once again off to California to spend some additional time checking out these two Lance models. We had finally decided that the model 1885 was our new TT of choice so we reviewed the options available and decided that on May 1st we would place our order for a new Lance.
Well to make a long story short we were working with a dealer in California and just this past week we came across a used Lance model 1995 that was listed for sale so off we went to inspect it, the original owner just relocated and upgraded to a 5th. Wheel and decided to sell the Lance. After a through inspection we decided to make an offer to purchase it and now it is setting in our driveway ready for its maiden voyage.
Currently checking all systems out and setting up the E2 hitch to our tow vehicle so we can once again get out and tour this beautiful country.
We would like to thank everyone for all the input we received from this forum especially over the past year as it was most helpful in assisting us in making a decision.
Lance +1 ----- Others –1
