RE: changing to 16in light truck tires whos done it
I just bought a 2006 sunset creek by sunnybrook , 29 ft weighs just about 7000lbs empty . It has 6 lug 15 inch tires on it now that need replacing. I dont know anyone that has good luck with trailer tires .And I havent seen any 15inch trailer tires that look to be any good I wont buy any chinese tires . I am going to change to 6 lug 16 inch rims with light truck tires . Has anyone done this and had any problems ?
I did it on my Primetime LaCrosse 318..
I bit the bullet and bought new wheels and tires. I had to buy wheels, because I upgraded to a 16" tire/wheel. I am now running LT225/75/16E tires. I also bought the most heavy duty LT, yes, LT tire I could find. I did not want an ST tire ever again, after reading the horror stories and the minimal DOT testing for them.
The wheel is a 16x7 Hi-Spec Black series 06 Aluminum wheel rated for 3200lbs and 85psi. The Bridgestone R250, is a severe commercial duty tire. It is beyond heavy duty and the pictures do not do it justice.

The difference is unbelievable. I went from a 68lbs tire, to a 51lbs tire (just the tire) The construction of the new tire is amazing, and IMO worth every penny.
Again, I didn't want to spend the money, but my family and our safety is worth it. Changing a tire on the side of I-95 is not my idea of safe, nor fun. Plus I didn't need a hole in the floor or worse, damage to the trailer if they were to come apart.
RE: Swing Arm Bumper mount for BBQ
The "platform" does not turn horizontal. It stays in the vertical position as shown in the photo. I have a PrimeTime unit with that mount. It allows a side mounted grill (think Sidekick or RVQ) to be used.

RE: Curt receiver hitch differences?
So it's(15521) in a similar position as the stock one? As long as it's close I guess that would be the one. Just wasn't sure what it meant by concealed. I don't want the receiver behind the license plate like a lowrider.
Yes similar position.. right under the bumper. The hitch crosstube is hidden.

RE: Curt receiver hitch differences?
I'm planning on replacing the factory hitch on my 2005 chevy 2500hd after reading of cracks and failures. The problem is, I'm not going to be dealing directly with a dealer, thus I'm not sure if one would be better for me than the other. My wife can get these "at dealer cost", but does not directly work with the pickup truck market.
Truck: 2005 Silverado 2500hd cc/sb (6.0 gas)-Factory bumper.
Hitches: Curt 15108 vs. Curt 15521 vs. 15211
All supposedly fit my truck. All are rated over my max towing.
So, other than the increased rating of the 15521, What is the difference? Fitment issues? Preferences?
Since some may ask, current trailer is a Stealth ss2216 toy hauler. Max trailer weight of 7500lbs or so.
Thanks
I have the 15521 and it is great! The tube is hidden behind the bumper and all that is seen is the "receiver" itself.
I have been very happy with mine. It is extremely well built and I got it installed in less than an hour.
Go with the 15521, you will not be disappointed.

RE: TIRES (I know...)
I put these on my TT and could not be happier... I went from a 28lbs ST tire to a 52lbs LT tire. Steel sidewalls, heavy duty everything... in a LT225/75R16 flavor...

By far, the most heavy duty tire I have ever owned, on both a trailer and a truck... These are fantastic! I can now pull my TT without fear of constant blowout..

RE: Bike Rack Options
Thanks for sharing your pics and ideas. Do you have any problems with the bikes hitting your truck on sharp corners?
I do not have any problems with making sharp turns with the rack installed.
To add, the rack has ZERO bounce. I can watch it in the mirror at all times. The hollywood rack is very well built, but is heavy... Fortunately, I have a truck that has plenty of payload available.
I have run the rack for almost two years with no trouble.
Thanks!

RE: Bike Rack Options
Build a hitch for the front like I did, and put a good bike rack in it..
If you have any lower pictures (frame mounting) of this setup could you please share them.
Thanks. Don.
I do..
It is not bolted or welded to the frame. The brackets and bolts "sandwich" the frame, thus, not voiding any warranty. The frame is made from 3" x 3" x 3/16" tubing and the plates are 3/8". Bolts are 1/2" diameter Grade 8.

RE: Bike Rack Options
I did a search, but reading through some of the other topics, I wasn't really findinig a lot of what I was looking for.
I have a TT, and I wanted to know of a good bike rack that would mount to the rear bumper. Also keeping in mind, the spare tire is back there.
I would currently be putting 2 adult bikes and 1 kids bike on it. But I know soon I will be adding kid bike #2 (right now lil mans easily fits in the camper)
Our old camper had the lay flat racks? I guess you could call it, but it added like another 4ft to the camper it felt. I was hoping to stay away from that if possible.
Is my best option to weld a small hitch back there, or is there something that will U-Bolt to the bumper that is trustworthy and sturdy?
Thanks for the help all!

RE: Does This TT Exist?
We are on the lookout for a certain TT. Here's what we would like if it exists.
1) Master bedroom up front.
2) Bunk beds in the back. We kind of like a set on each side of the TT for a total of 4 beds back there. I
3) Outdoor fridge. A sink and cabinets are a plus. A stove it not required.
4) Direct access to bathroom from outside.
Does an RV like this exist? I guess having only 3 beds in the back is OK if we have to make room for the outdoor kitchen but I'm pretty sure I saw TT's that had 4 beds and an outdoor kitchen.
Depending on what you can tow... Primetime has several models that fit the bill...

I have the LaCrosse and love mine..
