RE: Upgrading the exterior speakers.

On my trailer the Sony's were 1/2" deeper than the oem but they were where a Cabinet is. Cut a hole in the wallboard inside the cabinet. Then covered the hole.

RE: generator in an old rv

Jgar,
Maybe I read it wrong, but if I didn't, then what Tahiti suggested is dangerous. You should never have power to open pins (like a male plug).
My coach had a built in shore power cable and in the same box it lives in is a receptacle (female) that is fed by the APU (genset). So, the coach cable gets plugged in one of two places, either a shore power post or there in the box.
Matt
Best way to do it.

RE: Generator fuel additives.. yeah or nay

I use a higher octane when going above 5,000' elev. Take a look @ the pumps in places like Flagstaff. Reg is 89 & premium is 93.

RE: What we need for Father's Day

What we really need is to treat EVERY day as Father's Day. Honestly, this is no more than a Hallmark holiday. If you ignore him or treat him poorly 364 days a year and only think he's special one day a year you've got some issues that need to be addressed. Feel the same way about Mother's Day.
That is so true. Thanks

RE: What we need for Father's Day

I will go through photos of my Dad that was taken too early @ 59 with a heart attack. The older I get (63) the smarter he becomes. I have no children so I only have the past. It is a bittersweet day for me.

RE: Who has to work 4th of July weekend

I'm retired and work PT @ Home Depot. I work mostly evenings and Sat. So I request time off to camp on Holiday weekends. I have not been refused yet. Great PT work for retirees. I'm off July 3/4/5/6/7. Going camping in Northern Az.

RE: Rewiring battery bank to charger/inverter, couple of ?'s

Run the wire every time. Frame grounds are way too unreliable.
Since when? Every automobile on the road has multiple circuits wired this way.
Does your starter have a ground cable all the way back to the battery?
Look @ a manual for any car and why are there so many grds? If they were good only 1 would be needed but my Superduty has 6 grounds from body to frame.

RE: Is a 28 foot TH too much for a 2013 F150 with 5.0 V8?

There is a certain amount of ignorance on both sides of the aisle when it comes to matching RV's and customers.
Not on my end. I am on my 4th Superduty, all due to moving up to bigger trailers or hauling more weight.
I have always been within all of my tow capacities and I am very aware of what those are.
I agree, comes from owning a trucking co and running cranes & heavy equip all my life. Get the right tool for the job period.
Would you go to Home Depot and buy an 18" push mower if you have a lawn that covers an acre?

RE: Generator fuel additives.. yeah or nay

I don't add anything to my fuel-
I think the best thing you can do is start the generator every month or so and run it under a load.
The fuel in your tank (unless it is way too low) will not go bad. All you need to do is run the stuff out of the carb and fuel line and all will be fine.
Have to disagree with your comment that "it won't go bad" because it certainly will. I bought a toyhauler that sat for 4 yrs prior to my buying it. Recently replaced the carb on the gen. FULL of varnish. I have a Honda gen that will start on the first pull after sitting for 2 yrs with stabil.

RE: Roof question?

I would gently scape it best you can to remove the bulk. Use a plastic scraper with the corners blunted. Then apply Dicor brand self leveling sealant/caulk. Don't use any harsh cleaners or chemicals without checking compatibility with a rubber EPDM roof membrane. In the future touch it up once a year.

the city water should bypass the tank & pump. The pump should not be needed while on city water.

RE: Gas engine and Diesel of same specs.Pull the same.

another thing to consider is the wgt of the rotating mass. That alone will give a diesel a big advantage towing. I have yet to have a gasser come close to keeping up on 6/7%. AINT GONNA HAPPEN.

RE: Fantastic Fan Circuit Board MC 103

Fantastic is now owned by Camco and was moved. That should answer any and all service questions. Glad I got my parts before the move. The CEO of Camco walked into the Mi plant with security and told everyone "This plant will be closed. Some will be invited to come along and some will not" then left. This is what I was told when I ordered my 3 way switches. I got them free but was told they weren't sure if the lifetime warranty would continue. I would say not after reading this.
My bad. Sorry for the false info. It was NOT Camco.

here in Az I leave them open till a dust storm approaches then I run out & close them. I have the Maxx air covers. I also keep a few 5 gal buckets of water in there to keep some humidity in it.
