Slide Topper

We have a 40' 05 Journey with a living room slide 13' long. The slide topper rubs against the top of the slide and doesn't deploy correctly and has rolled over the top of the slide and bent the holding arms of the slide topper hardware. I have straightened out the hardware but it still rubs and doesn't work correctly. Any idea how to fix this. If I take to the dealer it is going to cost a lot and if I can fix the better. Any help? Thanks.

RE: You ever stay in a Walmart parking lot?

I like Walmart!!! We stay at them when going from point a to point b for convenience. I don't have to find a RV park, register, unhook the toad, and do it early the next morning and get on the road. I'm cheap too.

RE: California, wine country

We stay at the Calistoga Fairgrounds when we go to Napa Valley. It is on the North end of the Valley but good places to eat and only about 5 miles to St. Helena for some excellant resturants and a drive around the Valley on the Silverado Trail you can visit all the wineries you want for days. Other wine regions that have just as good wine and not as expensive is Amador County and El Dorado County, about 100 miles southeast of Napa. You could stay at the 49'er RV park in Plymonth and go from there to El Dorado county and Amador County is right there. Another place with fine wine is Lodi, CA.

RE: Solar panel

Just hammer your Rep. and Senators like health care and cap and trade will go away and vote out those who are for it.
I installed solar for charging my batteries last winter and love it and am going to install more this winter but I don't know about heating water. I too would like to know more about it.

RE: Slacker Internet Radio

I too got bored of Sirus radio. Same songs over and over then they also renewed my account without asking me and then when I called to cancel they said I owed them for months I didn't listed because I thought it was cancelled. Thanks for the heads up about Slacker. I've been listening all morning and ordered a radio from Buy.com.

RE: My DP heating up, WHY?

I have a 2005 Journey with a 350 CAT and had the same problem. I sprayed the inside and outside of the radiator with Simple Green and let it sit a few hours and then hosed it out. Being very careful I sprayed from underneath with the engine running. Fixed the problem for about 20,000 miles and I need to do it again. I think Wolfe 10 is right they are vacuum cleaners and suck road grim into the radiator because I have extended the slobber tube and it still nees cleaning after 20,000 miles.

RE: portable holding tank

Thanks Just-Dave. One of my questions was how do you know it is full. What do you do with the stuff in the hose if it is full. Thanks everyone for the input.

portable holding tank

It seems like a lot of the campgrounds we stay at and like don't have sewer hookups so we have to breakdown and go dump. Does anyone use a Thetford portable dump tank like they have at Camping World? Is it easy to use at both ends the, rv and the dump site? Thanks for the help.

I-80

We are leaving Sunday and heading East over the Sierras from the Sacramento area and know about the construction and even get emails from Caltras but would like to know fron those who have traveled on it lately how bad is it? Is it really rough and have long delays? We could go over 50 through Carson City and it is only 20 miles longer according to the Delorme street atlas. Thanks for the help.

Fallen Leaf Lake Campground if you can find a spot. No hookups. Check reserveamerica.com. We stay there or Campground by the Lake.

We are looking for a campground in the Seasttle area that doesn't cost $50.00 a night since we are only going to be there to sleep. I also checked RV Parks review but they only list 2. Thanks for the help.

Sun Valley

After weeks of delay we are finally going to Couer D'Alene ID. from N. CA. and will be taking 80 to Wells, NV. and north on 93 to Shoshone, ID. and wondering about 75 out of Shoshone. We want to go to Ketchum and Sun Valley and then up to 93 north to 90 north at Missoula. Are these roads doable driving a 40' motorhome with a toad. Also can you recommend campgrounds around Ketchum or Sun Valley preferrably Fed or State.

RE: need info North Tahoe vs. South Tahoe

We just got back from Tahoe for the 3rd time this year and just saw your post. We go up 50 and it has a drop off at Echo sunnitt but I go no more than 10-15 mph and don't worry about the other traffic. That section is very short. Take it very slow and don't look down,(Only kidding) but the passengers will have a spectacular view. We stay at Campground by the Lake. City pool right there with the beach right across the street but we drive about 5 miles and go to Pope Beach. Bike route to the bike trail around the west end of the lake and if you like to hike try the trail to Mt. Tallac and you only have to go about 1-1 1/2 miles for a unbelievable view. IMHO S. Lake Tahoe is more fun. When going to N. Lake take the East side of the lake which I think is easier. We're heading to CDA the 1st week in Aug.
