RE: Bigfoot Automatic Leveling Jacks

We had Big foot levelers on our 31' class C - constant problems - they were repaired, - constant problems - they - BIG FOOT IN WHITE PIGEON installed a new system - worked 2 days and broke down - we got our money back........ Would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. Lots of folks have them and like them - our experience was a nightmare!

RE: Nexus RV

I also use the flush king - does the trick for us. I would check the "out the door" weight of the 32' - with 3 slides I'm guessing there will not be a lot of weight that can be added _IF you are going to full time in it. Our 31P with one slide is about at 14,000 lbs with a max of 14,500 available. We do not carry a lot of extra "Stuff" - just the essentials. I'd ask Nexus the average out the door TOTAL weight of the 32P Just a suggestion.

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

No problem GrumpyGator - I'm glad it wasn't as I'd really prefer to have levelers and forgo the Adult Lego's :>) Glad yours are working well as I know you were concerned and it's great that you have a mechanic near by who is familiar with the Big Foot system.

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

Jeff1000 - we sign the contract with Nexus in October 2011 - gave them a deposit and had them agree to a "delay start" we asked that they wait 3 months before starting construction and complete the construction no earlier than 4/1/12. They agreed, which gave us 6 months to sell our house - which worked for us. Claude and David are very easy to work with - figure out what works for you and talk it over with them.

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

It certainly was not my intention to whine - the big Foot Levelers did not work for more than a week at a time and not even Big Foot themselves could fix them. I would however question their ability to stand up to full time RV-ing. Being parked in an RV park for weeks on end and perhaps putting them up and down once or twice a month compared to 15 - 30 times a month is a big difference. It got to the point that they would lift the back tires OFF THE GROUND! I think levelers are a great thing - but they need to work and work all the time - not much to ask for. The concept of "push a button and bingo you are level" is great in theory but 3 Big Foot systems all failed - not a hard decision to dump them. Plenty of users out there - this is just my horrid experience.

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

HWH levelers have been around for a long time and can pretty much be serviced anywhere. We now carry 2 boxes of lynx levelers - 20 in total. We were on the East coast for quite this spring and early summer and those dudes know very little about RV repair - we went to several places and they would not even look at them - a couple of places never heard of Big Foot!!!!!! We went back to Nexus for some warranty work and had Big Foot put the new system in and when that failed (stroked out) we said three STROKES & YOU ARE OUT!!! Nexus backed us up all the way and refunded our money.

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

Our Big Foot levelers started to lift the back end real high and actually rock the RV side to side, leaving it totally un-level. Big Foot called it "stroking out" Now the fact that they have a "TERM" for it means it's happened before. They replace one of the levelers - ran OK for a couple of days and then started "stroking out" again. Replaced all 4 levelers - worked OK for a couple of days and started "stroking out" again. We went back to Big Foot in MI and they completely replaced the entire system - a complete new system!!! OK for 3 days and then started "stroking out" again. Well 3 strikes and you are OUT! We had them removed and NEXUS refunded our purchase price for the Big Foot.

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

HWH ARE VERY GOOD LEVELERS - BUT COST BIG BUCKS - MUCH MORE THAN BIG FOOT - BUT I'M SURE ARE WORTH THE INCREASE IN PRICE. BIG FOOT LEVELERS WE FOUND HAVE NO SERVICE NETWORK AND SEVERAL PLACES WE STOPPED TO TRY AND GET THEM FIXED WOULD NOT EVEN TOUCH THEM!!!!!!

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

We figure the only time it might be a problem is if it's raining when we arrive. We are in Pensacola Fl for 2 weeks now and on a hot topped site. We tried a few different spots on the pad and found one that was as close to level as any leveling system could provide - did not even have to use the blocks! As I say lots of happy folks with Big Foot - but service is a problem we found. Good luck with your search.

RE: Nexus Phantom 24P

I have a Nexus 31P and have been full timing since April 2012. We had the Big Foot leveling jacks installed and they proved to be nothing but trouble. After several repairs and parts replacements and then the complete system replaced only to fail 3 days later - we had the entire system removed and our $'s refunded. Big Foot in White Pigeon MI installed our system so we figured if they could not get them to work we were better off without them. There are plenty of Big Foot users out there but we did find that very few places service Big Foot equipment. We had to return to white Pigeon MI which proved a waste of our time. We are now using leveler blocks - no problem as we stay mostly in RV parks with pads of fairly level sites. So it really depends on where you will be staying - auto levelers are GREAT if they work. I think we will go to 4 - seven ton hydraulic pump jacks ($30 each at Sears) each being able to hold 7,000 pounds - but will do that only when and if needed.

paullac - after 3 Big Foot leveling systems installed - NONE OF THEM WORKED - we had them taken out and got our money back. I don't know how to change my signature -have asked but no response as to how.

SCISSOR JACKS

Some opinions on the use of scissor jack to level a 31' Class C RV max 14,500 lbs, E-450 These jacks now can hold up to 7,000 lbs each - so 2 on the back and 2 on the front I would think would be more than enough. I'm concerned about the road clearance - it looks like in the front it would be just shy of 6 inches from road to bottom of retracted jack. Opinions or actual experience appreciated. I've seen many with them - going down the road just fine.

RE: Fulltiming in a class C

My NEXUS has heated holding tanks and a 40,000 BTU heater and additional insulation in the floor, walls and ceiling then most Class C's have. I question if all A's are built for 4 season travel. We are 800 lbs under our allowed 14,500 and we can't think of one thing we are missing - (other than a Trust Fund!~ :>). It depends on your needs and what each person considers a necessity. An A gives you more storage agreed - and of course people being people carry more stuff because they have the space - so let's fill it up!

RE: Fulltiming in a class C

We fulltime in a 31 foot NEXUS Phantom Class C one slide out 10' x 2' - just the two of us and we have plenty of room and carry all we need and are 800 lbs under the max of 14,500. No problems what so ever - people who say you can't do it like to carry ALL their sticks and bricks "STUFF" with them.! Thousands upon thousands of folks F/T in Class c's of all sizes as well as Class B's Check www.nexusrv.com They are selling lots of Class C's and B's to Class A owners who are down sizing! Call them and speak to Claude (President) or David (VP)
