Check out WWW.NEXUSRV.COM
We have a 31' - 1 slide out and are quite happy. They also are a "Direct sale" manufacturer of Class C RVs - no middleman with his hand in the pie!

RE: Electrical voltage drop

smkettner - I was plugged into 30amp service at RV park in Quebec Canada. New underground wiring installed last year according to owner.
The A/C has tripped its 20amp breaker twice in the past 4 months.
We are in Elkhart Indiana now and our RV is now back with the manufacturer for a complete electrical test and some other warranty items.

RE: Electrical voltage drop

garym114 & dusrette appreciate the response but Ya lost me.
I've had the incoming volts drop down to 82 and thankfully my EMS/surge protection system shut the electricity off.
let me approach it in a different way - if what I say is happening - what could the case be???
This just recently started to happen - incoming voltage was always a constant 122 - 118

Electrical voltage drop

Should the incoming voltage decrease as the amps increase. Example:
incoming voltage 122V. Amps 5
Turn on A/C incoming voltage drops to 109 Amps increases to 20
Should not incoming voltage run pretty constant regardless of the amps being used?

RE: City Water Backfeed Problem?

If connected to city water we never eave the water pump on. We only carry about 5 gallons of fresh water to use for flushing when on the road. We also never leave the RV without shutting off the city water feed. We also shut the water feed off at night. Too much can happen - some friends left the RV to go on a shopping trip and came back to an RV with water running out the bottom and under the door!!!! Thousands of $$$$$$$ in water damage to floor - walls - cabinets etc etc
Are you implying that you use the city water connection and the water pump for the fresh water tank at the same time?
We use a PSI regulator ( 45 PSI ) but so many other problems can be generated with the water plumbing the risk is not work leaving the water on when gone or when sleeping IMHO.

RE: Are surge protectors really necessary?

Thanks for the tip coachman - You really seem to like to be mean and sort of an insulting know it all - fine that is your problem not mine. Let's bury the hatchet and try to get along - I'll give it a try if you will. You really should not assume that you know more than anyone else - we are all equal here - different strokes for different folks so perhaps we can start out on that premise. We all have things to learn - including you. No one is all knowing.

RE: Are surge protectors really necessary?

Coach-man news flash - I'll never go away - got to stay around to help protect others from such insane advice. Your bully attitude means nothing to me and others I'm sure. Seems quite a few other folks think you are way off base as well. The guy beside me who fried $3,000 in electronics due to no protection I'm sure would have a few choice words for your uneducated comments. Such a macho attitude you have imposed upon yourself - you just don't let others have an opinion that disagrees with your opinion. I find yoru ignorance refreshing so stop trying to pick a fight with me - you have your opinion - I have mine!
Live and let live Dude!

RE: Are surge protectors really necessary?

Coach-man - this is the worse advice I've ever seen on any RV blog! At Salisbury Beach State Park 2 months ago a surge of 235amps came thru our 30amp hookup. the EMS/Surge protector shut the electric down B4 any damage could happen. A 42' Class A next to me with NO PROTECTION had close to $3,000 of his electronics fried. Everything FRIED!!! There was not one thing in his coach that any longer worked!!
For the cost of a few hundred dollars not to have an EMS/Surge protection is complete foolishness IMHO.
He was lucky in that the park has insurance for this type of thing. The park electrician found the source of the surge and it was indeed a park problem.

RE: Are surge protectors really necessary?

Look at Progressive Industries EMS/Surge protection. Recently we had a surge of 235 volts come thru a 30 amp hookup. Our Progressive system shut off the electricity before any damage could happen. The guy beside us did not have an EMS/surge protection device and had over $3,000 in FRIED electronics in his RV!!!
Don't skimp on this - the surge protectors found in Staples and places alike are not good protection for the "dirty" electric supplies found in some RV Parks.

RE: Class Class C vs Class B+ Motorhomes, Officially?

Indianaboy - you are correct - however - a Class B+ has a lot of the optional items included as standard that need to be added as an upgrade in the C of B. The upgrade cost in the C or B is at a higher cost than when they are included in the B+.
