RE: Ouch ! obsolete oven parts are expensive !

Just install an in line shut off valve on the gas line to the thermostat. That way you can still use the burners

RE: Waxed front cap - left smudge marks, advice???

I used barkeeper's friend. Than the Red Max Pro/ Zep treatment. the barkeeper's friend worked really well. Down side, I worked really hard.

RE: Red Max Pro or Equivalent

2 years on mine too. Need a touch up now, but if I was still using standard auto wax, I would have had to redo it at least 3 times by now. Snow, sun, sand storms etc, and it still looks great. Best move I have made as far as exterior care.

RE: Are Camp Grounds Really that Safe?

We very rarely stay in commercial campgrounds, preferring boondocking and camp hosting at state and county campgrounds. When we do stay in commercial campgrounds, I avoid ones that have shabby, longterm tenants that have no sense of appearance. Broken down cars, lean to sheds, etc are signs of potential problem.

RE: Zep Wet Look miracle

There is a product designed for stripping the acrylic coating, called "Heavy Duty floor Stripper". Haven't used it yet, as the RMP Is still doing great after two years .

RE: Zep Wet Look miracle

Going on two years with my RMP application. Can't believe how good it still looks! It has taken Oregon rain storms, Washington snow/ ice storms, Arizona sun and sand storms and still shines like the day I did it.

RE: Ironing Board for Motorhome

A friend made one for us that fit in the cabinet sleeve where I cutting board goes. Just the support goes into the void, then the ironing board part sticks out about 3 feet. We store it under the mattress.

RE: BLM Alone Camping Tonight!

Great pictures, thanks for sharing! Glad you had a good desert camping experience. Only advice I give folks for desert boondocking, enjoy he solitude and don't do what I did: spend the evening watching "The Hills Have Eyes"!

RE: Full-timing in an older RV and upkeep ...

My 16 year old Alpenlite is still going strong as our full time home. The appliances can all be replaced. I would be looking at the structural integrity of your unit. Is the roof holding up well? Regular inspections up and down and preventive maintenance will give you years of service. Good luck on your adventures!

RE: Small 2-4 Person Boat?

X2 on the Porta-bote. Indestructible, easy to row and unsinkable. Get the largest size; not much more expensive but more cargo capacity.
Stay away from the blow-ups that will rip when you get near a rock or sharp stick.
Dick, the material used in the Sea Eagle line is not the material used in cheap air mattresses. I've been using mine for almost 30 years, through rapids, sharp rocks and sharp fishing gear and have Never had a puncture or leak. If the opportunity presents itself, take another look at the SeaEagle line of products.

Summer help for Oregon County Park

Tollbridge County Park is located south of Hood River on Hwy 35 on the way to beautiful Mt Hood. They are looking for Camp Hosts for an active campground. Duties include greeting campers, selling firewood, posting reservations at the sites and keeping the campsites clean for the next campers. I have worked there the past 3 years and it is an easy job in a beautiful setting right on the Hood River. A full hook up site for the camphost is provided. For more information on the position and months needed, contact Cory at cory.vansickle@co.hood-river.or.us

RE: Suggestions for refilling fresh water tank when dry camping

My fifth wheel is a boon dockers dream, with a 100 gallon fresh water tank. My truck has a 95 gallon auxiliary tank in the bed which makes a perfect platform for my water bladder; which is a twin size air bed. It holds about 75 gallons. I use an electric pump that I power with my genny. System work great as long as you have a large capacity FW tank. When done, the air bed bladder rolls up into a little stuff sack.

RE: Who uses CAT heaters?

Steve, we've been using an Olympian Wave 6 for the past 4 years. We keep one roof vent cracked open about half an inch. I built mine in, as there was a spot below the entertainment center that was perfect for it. That being said, I noticed there were scorched areas above where it was recessed in. I now use a cookie sheet as a heat shield and it works great. We leave it on all night on very cold nights. We keep our bedroom door closed as we like a cool sleeping environment. Right now it is 33 degrees outside and 65 inside. Unlike the conventional furnace, it uses no battery, much less propane and mostly important, quiet. The one drawback is it does not heat up a room fast, so we usually run the furnace to take the chill out when we first set up
then run the cat heater to maintain the room temps..

RE: Clarify to prevent freezing

I agree that you probably don't need the skirting, but a quick and easy way to do it is with 1" styrofoam insulating board. It's cheap and easy. I just cut mine a little bigger than necessary and wedged it in place. Toughest part is disposing of it when you leave, good luck!
