RE: GM Number One in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

They must be a lot different than the last and they will be the last, couple GMs that I owned. Fuel pumps, Intake manifold leaks, brake pulls, transfer case, transmission not shifting....I wonder what GM paid them to win such a "distinguished" award??? B.O.

RE: Assume My Dump Valve is Closed and Won't Open !

Have never heard of a valve itself breaking so it won't open. If you look at one you will see it's not an issue. The cable that goes to it is another story. If it doesn't work you can always drop the covering on the underside and operate the valve by hand. Pumping it out will not be the answer you're looking for. There will always be some left that won't get sucked out. Yuck..Besides who would you get to suck on the syphon hose?? B.O.

RE: Auto slider Question

.........and will not put me in a situation where I am the only one that can pull the trailer (like pull rite). Pullrite conversion adapter #3336 will allow your trailer to be pulled by a NON-SuperGlide hitch. (The head of your hitch does have to be used on the adapter) Pullrite Conversion Adapter #3336 However, it will set you back about (another) $175..;) ~ The new capture plates are held on with one setscrew. No need for an adapter. Takes two minutes to remove it, then it can be pulled by any standard hitch...The days of the old weld on and bolt on plate with 6-8 bolts are long gone... B.O.

RE: Auto slider Question

Found out today after talking to a dealer that pull rite has 2 models, the one with rails in the bed is significantly cheaper and lighter. Was quoted 1500 installed (+ capture plate) and was told less than 200 lbs. I bought mine online. It's the 15,000# version they now make a 18,000# model. It's the one that uses standard rails. About $800.00 if you shop online. But you will still need to get rails and a mounting kit and have it installed. I like mine but it is a little heavy to wrestle with. B.O.

RE: Transmission Service

Fluid and filters, no flush, on my 2010 Ram was $200.00 at a reputable transmission shop. B.O.

RE: TrailAir vs. Trailaire

There is a Trail-Aire air ride pinbox and a Trail-Aire air ride pinbox with a Tri-Glide jaw. Both are the same except the Tri-Glide is an addition that can be added to help eliminate chucking. The company that makes them is wholly owned by Lippert. The Tri-Glide jaw uses a mechanical linkage to dampen the chucking. A Mor-Ryde pinbox is totally different and use rubber for dampening. Mor-Ryde is not affiliated with Trail-Aire in any way. B.O.

RE: Trailair King Pin Box-Does this look right?

Let out some air. Don't go by the pressure in the bag, just air it up until the hitch is level. The arrow decal can be off in its' placement by as much as one inch. I air mine up just enough so it doesn't bottom out going down the road. I have checked it once or twice and it's usually around 50 psi. Mine rides pretty good. B.O.

RE: Trailair pin box accessory

I just had a Trail Air installed last week . I had thought about on line purchase and save a little $$$$$. I thought I would go to my local RV shop and I was able to see what was involved to install one. Thank God I was able to see what it took to install one ,and the equipment and heavy duty tools it took to do the job. Two men a hydraulic hoist to lift the 200lb unit and hold it in place while the bolt holes were lined up. Then they also needed to locate the electrical box and the break away. I gladly paid the installation fee at the shop. My total bill was $ 1,385 well spent $$$. You wouldn't believe how easy it was to install mine. I did it by myself. Unhitch the trailer and pull the truck ahead slightly. Unbolt the old pinbox and set it on the tailgate on some wood blocks. Use the front jacks on the trailer to set the right height. Set the new hitch on the tailgate on top of the wood blocks. Raise or lower the trailer to line up the bolts. Align the bolt holes with a drift pin or two or maybe a couple screwdrivers. Replace the bolts. Raise the trailer up and you're done. Some people make some of these jobs too complicated. I can get this done in about 45 minutes. Might need some help to set the new hitch on the truck..that's what wives are for..BIG wives.. B.O.

RE: Trailair pin box accessory

You have a couple of options. Buy the trailer without the Trail-Aire pinbox and purchase one with the Tri-Glide jaw from the aftermarket and install it. Probably much cheaper if you buy it online than from a dealer. Or try it without the Tri-Glide jaw first and see how it pulls. You can always add that later. I have a Trail-Aire with a Tri-Glide. I purchased it at a rally for about 1/3 of the normal retail price. I'm not that sold on the Tri-Glide feature and doubt if I would get it again. Just my opinion. B.O.

RE: 13.5K BTU AC versus 15K BTU AC

The difference in capacity is slightly less than 10% more..I don't think that would make much difference. I'd go with downtheroad's answer also.. B.O.

RE: Newbie looking for answers on a new 5th wheel

Sounds to me like a big order for a small trailer. Can't say I have ever seen anything close to it. With the bunkhouse and the extra bath it won't leave much space for a living room area. Maybe somebody figured out how to make it work. Good luck. B.O.

RE: RV Totaled

I had a travel trailer totaled from a hailstorm several years ago. My insurance company was more than fair on the settlement. I got more than I could have sold it for. They offered to sell it back to me but I turned it down. The whole transaction only took a week or so and I had my check...No complaints here. I wanted to sell it anyway and move to a bigger trailer.. B.O.

RE: 5th wheel pulling a jeep!

Saw several Jeeps being towed when in AZ. One of my friends tows a Wrangler behind his Carraige. Says it's not a big deal...I'd do it with the right truck and trailer as long as it's legal... B.O.

RE: Run time of Powered Vent on a Group 27 Battery?

Unless you specifically rewire your trailer to power just the fan with the battery you will have other things that are powered while the battery is on. IE: carbon monoxide, propane leak detectors, radio memory and others. It has been my experience that just these things will kill the battery while the trailer sits. Two nights on one battery may max out your battery without running the fan at all depending on if you run the furnace, how many lights you use and so on...Everything in the trailer runs on 12 volts except your refer, water heater and television... RE: HELP, I'm in a jam

All better, it kicked the breaker on the pole. It switched over to the battery and didn't miss a beat, except for no AC that is LOL. Thanks again everyone for your help. It didn't "switch over to battery" It's always running on the battery except when it's plugged in then Convertor kicks on and charges the battery and powers all the 12 volt stuff. The A/C, microwave, electric water heater and electric function on the fridge all run on 110 only. B.O.
