RE: 7.3 power stroke

My 95 is still pulling strong with 220 k on it. Dragged my 40 foot fiver to the campground today to take advantage of the good weather.
Would like a newer truck, but no sense in replacing this one.

RE: My Canadian friends, can you please help me?

I had thought the same thing with the windshield antifreeze, a friend of mine uses the same , he checked it out with the enviro people and the government leg of the parks system, they said it was okay.
Myself, I would prefer rv antifreeze.

RE: My Canadian friends, can you please help me?

I live full time in my fiver in Ontario, and I camp without water hookup nor hydro for the whole winter. I truck my water in and run a Honda for power.
At any rate, it;s not for the weak, maybe check out my blog and see some of the things that I have had to do, lots of pics

RE: Struggling to find a TC, discouraged by the inevitable.

I had been looking for about a year when I finally found a 93 Lance for 2500.00. Had the rot in the rear floor but it was repaired already, just have to finish off the linoleum. Overall in great shape and was hardly used, all onboard equipment is working except the fridge. Could not find anything close for 6000.00

RE: getting ready for a 6 month trip

Take your truck and trailer in for a complete checkover by a reputable mechanic. Extra fan belts hoses etc. Onboard little air compressor too, to check and adjust all your tires, Man there is ton of stuff to know and to do. Hopefully forum members chime in with their thoughts as it is hard for one to make the big list.
Wish I could take off for a 6 month trip, lucky you and enjoy the vacation.

RE: Winter Cold Weather Fultiming ??'s

If you don't have dual pane windows, use one of those plastic kits that go on. Big heat loss with the single pane windows. Also your entrance door to the rv, usually a big heat loss area there, double check your seals etc. try to park out of the wind?????

That is a link to my blog where I winter camp in Canada fulltime for 13 years now, sort of shows some of the stuff that I have to do to get through the cold months, and I boondock all winter long.

RE: Mobile Suites owners-tow vehicle

Went to the Canadian Mobile Suites rally in Kingston this past summer and most of the attendees had heavy trucks pulling their units. These are guys that are serious about towing and doing it right, they also put alot of miles on and they all upgraded from single and dual wheel trucks.
My buddy went from a single chev 2500hd with all the extras to help it with power and stopping as well as carrying the weight, to a singled out Volvo. this past summer we built him a deck to carry a Smart car and he is still well within the capacity of the truck and trailer combo.
They all feel much more comfortable with the heavier truck and now do not have to white knuckle drive their single and duallys.

RE: Thoughts on a 1992 Lance Squire 8000

I went and picked up the Lance today. Very good shape and I double checked the rear wall area and the floor just inside the door. Well as it turned out, the owner had it all repaired last year and all I have to do is the linoleum work, which I will probably use some sort of peel and stick.
I put the camper into my shop and checked it all out, everything works except for the fridge which I knew going in. Previous owner had a 900.00 repair bill to the fridge but it stopped working a couple of months later. So I have that to deal with.
Onboard battery is toast, so need to replace that with a 12 volt deep cycle, wish I could fit two, but no room.
Some bangs and scrapes here and there, some water leaking into the storage cabinets due to bad seals but all in all its a 92 and I paid 2500.00 not 30 grand. Nice little project for my son and I over the winter months. I will put it on his truck hopefully tomorrow.
The kid is only 15 so we have some time before this has to be road ready anyhow.

Thoughts on a 1992 Lance Squire 8000

Hopefully I am allowed to ask this question as my two previous posts were deleted by the moderator.
I am putting together a winter project for my son and I. Need some info on this camper as to quality of construction, any areas that I might need to address. Thoughts and opinions??
Any info greatly appreciated and thanks

Looking at a used Lance

Try this again seeing how the moderator deleted my original post when he clearly did not understand that I was looking for info and not selling a truck camper.
At any rate, looking at a 1992 lance truck camper and also a 1993 jayco 950 camper. Both around the same price and same condition.
This is a winter project for my son and I and looking for opinions thoughts and maybe some things to look for in each unit that are known problems and which unit you think is better in terms of construction etc.
Any thoughts opinions greatly appreciated.
thanks

RE: when to quit putting money into my class c

Another situation where, if the poster had a good honest and reliable mechanic, he could get many more years out of the rv. I'd double check the exhaust manifolds and air pump with a few mechanics. Sounds like the major safety items have been done, I'm thinking keep on rv'ing. In the meantime, try to find a good mechanic, small shop, usually word of mouth.

RE: FOUND A GOOD REASON FOR 12 VOLT BATTERIES vs 6 VOLT

Ha funny, last week dragged my boat to the lake to find that my boat battery was dead due to the switch being left on. Took one of the batteries out of my diesel and away we went.
