RE: It's official: my roof leaks!!

Since this is going to be a temporary repair till later (spring-summer),
why not just paint the top of the roof with a waterproof sealant?

RE: Installing folding grab handle space issue

In the early morning when their is moisture on the RV, I can see
the location of the aluminum framework of my coach. A quality stud
finder will also identify the location of the frame to see if you have a
solid backing to secure the new grab handle.
If frame backing is missing, you can put a stainless steel bolt thru the
wall and use an acorn nut. An acorn nut has a round smooth top.
Sounds like adding a spacer on top and bottom would work. Maybe
placing a thick foam/rubber strip or adhesive door knob bumper on
the side of the Keystone below the window as a backing will help
protect the bar from hitting the coach or window in a closed position.

RE: Fleas and Ticks in the RGV

Ticks are the cause for Lyme Disease. Don't know where RGV is but here
is a map from the American Lyme Disease Foundation.
I use K9 Advantix on all my dogs monthly.
It repels and kills ticks, fleas and mosquitoes also repels biting flies,
kills chewing lice and is water proof.
For ways to protect yourself, visit the Tick Encounter Resource Center.

RE: Best brands/models of toy haulers

We are looking to buy a toy hauler for our hobbies.
What are the best brands or models? What should we avoid?
What should we look for?
Do you have a preference of toy hauler; Class A,
5th Wheel, or Travel trailer :@ Do you have a preference between
a consolidated garage and living area or garage separate from the
living area :h
I would avoid any toy hauler that has wood framework and fiberglass
batting in its ramp like Weekend Warrior.
I would examine the design of the method of lifting & lowering the ramp i.e.
spring(s) /hydraulic/electric, etc., and the difficulty or ease of it.

RE: Best cupboard door latches?

Does anyone have a favorite latch to recommend?
Also I have scars on my arms from the part on the door gouging into my skin while reaching in to the cupboard.
I found the corners of the cupboard doors were sharp in my RV. I gently used a metal fingernail file and rounded the pointed corners. Then use a rag & stain and seal with laquer if needed.
To prevent items from falling out of the cupboards, cut 1/8 veneer ply into 2 inch strips and place inside the cupboard. It will stay in place when fitted between the edges and frame of the cupboard - if not, use velcro. You can also put labels on the front of the veneer strips to identify the contents behind.

RE: Calico Patrol

Maybe the patrols are trying to save the California taxpayers the $3000.00 fee that it cost several times every weekend to Medivac by Life Flight Helicopters for all the broken bleeding and near death off road ATV folks that break their fool heads open.
If your a member of FMCA, you automatically have The MEDEX PLUS emergency medical assistance program. It was first purchased for FMCA family members in January 2001, helps traveling members to effectively manage the complexities and expenses of out-of-area medical and travel emergencies.

Question for a Geek

If a cell phone is left turned on, hooked up to 12v, and tucked away hidden
in the RV or trailer, WILL IT allow the police to locate its location if they are
given the cell number :h
A 2nd cell phone costs average $10 a month for service and wondered if
it could be used by LEO's like a lo-jack to track down the RV if stolen.

RE: My girlfriend hates me...

She 's mad at you, Why :h
You just bought yourself a present she did not buy you.
Hang a picture of her in the Montana and get some nice adhesive
letters and put her name on the passenger door of the truck.
If that doesn't work, the next time you go camping together,
come back alone.:p

RE: Repairing Cracked AC Covers

Heat and the UV take their toll and make them brittle after a number of years.
Repairing a brittle cover is a temporary fix. Might consider buying a new one.
Have it Rhino sealed for extra strength and UV protection.

RE: Stainless Steel Hardware, too expensive?

I get my stainless and chrome hardware from
West Marine (marine grade).
Never had any significant rust on any of my fishing boats
harbored in the bay from the salt water, salt air or electrolysis.
I don't have time to do jobs over, so...I use stainless fasteners
and washers on all modifications and when ever doing repairs
along with stainless brackets when available.

RE: What's your favorite feature and biggest gripe

My toy hauler is a Class A. What I enjoy most is using the garage to keep the living area clear of excess stuff, boxes, etc and the extra benefit of having a breeze that travels thru the RV from having the ramp partially down and the side door open. Eliminates the need to run the generator for fans and AC a lot of the times when dry camping.

RE: Cat getting bald spots

Give the cat a half teaspoon of Cod Fish Oil morning and night.
You can squirt in mouth with plastic syernge or let cap lap it up.
It was prescribed for my cat and hair grew back thick and shinny.
I also give it to my dog.
