RE: Accident & insurance

When you use YOUR insurance company, they get the money from their insurance company. Our friends Bounder was totaled by a towing company and their insurance company gave them full value when they wouldn't sign off and insisted on more money. Your insurance company has lawyers to deal with the towing companies insurance.

RE: Warning about carrying a lot of cash ( esp.Canadians)

Thank you moderator as there were too many silly and negative posts. We know how dangerous rest areas can be as we had a murder during a robbery at the local one and of course the snipers 15 miles from here. Art thank you for the heads up. The suggestion that our Canadian friends get a US bank account is a good one. Some credit cards charge as high as $10 per transfer fee. Those of us who travel intra and cross country have usually found ways around it. We have a credit union that charges no transfer fees on the ATM and a bank credit card that charges no fees on Canadian transfers.Debit cards are a no no, too easily hi jacked. Our rest stops are usually at Flying J. LOL When we use a reg rest area we watch our backs. We were solicited by a group of men at the last FL rest area on 75 who were running a shill game last year. I know one person who was robbed on a Walmart parking lot while working on his MH, so stay close to people even during the day. We boondock at service clubs and WalMarts. etc and keep the doors locked. Cash is never in wallets and well hidden.

RE: This may be my first RV

Look on Craigs list, there may be a private seller near you. I sold my brothers Z-28 to a man just 25 miles away and there aren't any fees. With 3 children you may want to buy a Class C and locally I have seen several sitting out for sale.( A and C's) A lot of folks are out of work and are selling their rigs.

RE: A learning experience=breakaway cable

Suggest you buy the little transmitter that tells you when the brake is activated. It also allows you to judge if it(BB) is set correctly for your toad. At 1 time we had three diff toweds, down to 2 now and both need diff settings for activation. Good Luck on your brakes.

RE: Any Orlando RV parks that offers theme park shuttle?

Fort Summit shuttle used to be free. Why don't you try for a cancellation at Fort Wilderness?

RE: Is buying into a membership Campgroud/RV Resort worth while

You asked about C2C as a filler. We use our RPI as a filler. Hart Ranch in SD, $10 a night for Sturgis, Hot springs in Canada, 5 star resort. RPI and C2C use most of the same parks. Some good, some bad.

RE: Stopping Overnight on the interstate

After you pass the Pigeon Forge exit about maybe 100 miles there is a flying J, large and clean that we stop at. Every Cabellas that we have stopped at has a dump station, water and ample parking, the exception is the Hamburg PA one as city ordinance prevents overnight parking. Buy a Next Exit book, very good info. We have GPS but use Next Exit a lot.

RE: Oasis Elite Door Awning Problem

We had to replace that cap also several months ago, the part was about $80. We ordered directly from the factory. Took 2 of us to take it down, you have to slide the awning off after you remove the screws. We never use that awning but that piece was worn. Seems to be a common defect with Oasis.
