RE: I've had enough

Congrads to the op as stated one of the best postes on here in a long time I fully agree with you. I am also probalby considered anti government as I am a stanch conservative. I wont be leaving this sight because of the libs unless I am booted off but then again I have been booted of better sights than this so no big deal. Well, thank you. You know when a voice is shut down a thought is lost. We may not always agree with our fellow man but we may learn something from him. A thread about the "Government" shutting down RV parks needs to be heard and if we can't do that here then this site is useless and just a way to promote Good Sam. This "Government" decision effects all of us and we should be upset by it. We should be able to speak our minds. Are we all to be sheepole and just follow the golden rule until the slaughter? Are we all to be treated as just "Repair manuals" for new people coming here? Do we have nothing else to say or add? All the stupid posts about nothing and the always same old, same old posts makes for a boring day. There are REAL issues that are affecting us now that we need to take a stance on so we can continue to live the way we want to. We worked hard for it, we fought for it and to now let it go would be a shame. I'll be the Rand Paul that speaks out to all of you who know that things are not right. We are a community of RV'ers that have a common interest and we need to protect that interest. We pay our taxes, defended our nation and now we just want have what is rightfully ours. We should be able to voice our opinions on this forum as well as other forums and make a difference. Thank you all for the support and to those who oppose me, I hope you make it until the end....

I've had enough

First, I'd like to say thanks to all those who have helped me over the years and got me into RV'ing. When you first sign on you have a lot of questions that only experienced rv'ers can answer and most will help you out. That is a good thing. After a few years it becomes old hat and you still help others but want a more diverse forum to discuss RV topics. I quit the IRV2 forum because the mods there think like children and think all the members are children and treat them that way. If someone posts a thread and someone else disagrees the thread is shut down because we can't have disagreements here... We are all adults and we all know not everyone will agree with the OP in a thread. This can be a good thing because it brings out other ideas and thoughts and helps others make a decision on an issue. 3 topics this week were closed here because someone disagreed or mentioned the name "Government" on this site. They were the only 3 topics I found interesting and felt made the trip here worthwhile. One was about the new budget and closing national parks. How can you have a discussion about it if you don't talk about the "Government"? We may not all agree what the "Government" does but closing the parks affects us all and as "adults" we should be able to discuss it but not here... Not anymore... This site has gotten more and more like the "Government" and wants to keep us all in line. Homogenized, Pasteurized and numb. If all that is left is "HELP ME" topics then it is one boring site and not worth coming to. I guess it will wind up with nothing but newbies that need advice but no experienced people to give it. I don't mind helping out but I'm not just a "repair" manual for newbies. I wanted a site that would be useful to newbies and experienced alike but that is not happening here. The new mods act like gsatopo and close all threads they "think" are not "Help me" threads or have the word "Government" in them or a hint of disagreement. So, I guess this thread will be deleted or closed and it all will go on but not with me as a member. I've had enough.... Goodbye....

RE: NPS plans to maximize the pain from their 5% cuts

Let's shut this down, some of the posts are offensive to me. Sorry for all of you that have posted things that I agree with, I'm not going to say which ones. Then don't come here to read them. No one is making you read anything. As soon as any topic gets interesting someone wants to shut it down. there are plenty of other "Help me PLEASE" threads you can read.

RE: dumping Comcast - need new e-mail host

I had a Comcast email and moved. I just got a Gmail account but still used Outlook to get the Comcast emails. That was 6 years ago and it still works. They didn't cancel my email address.

RE: Reese Moving To Mexico

Moving American industry and production out of the country is just a small sliver of what is taking place in this country. Perhaps because few of these issues hit the print stories for one reason or another. It seems average folks have no interest in becoming informed and believe the ten minute television news bites of the major media. Of course they don't report things like why is the TSA and Homeland Security stockpiling billions of assault rifle ammunition to be used within this country. 2X. If people only knew what is going down in this country they would all be heading to Mexico like Jesse Ventura. I'm in front of a computer 12 hrs a day for my business and when things get slow I browse the news. Not the major news sites but independent news sites that tell you the truth. I'm shocked, sickened and sad about what is happening and what has happened to this country.

RE: good place to avoid

And what is the problem with this. Ticket the offenders and jail the felons and leave the tax paying law abiding citizens alone. If you break the law pay the price and quit crying. Pogoil. Here is the problem... Unlawful town

RE: good place to avoid

I'm all for speed limits but here in Fl we have speed traps all over. That's how the little towns make their money. Rt 17 from Punta Gorda up to I-4 is loaded with the speed going from 60 mph to 35 within 300 Ft. You would have to slam on your brakes to be legal. Some of these signs are a mile or 2 outside of town so you are not looking for them. The cops sit with radar and get almost everyone who comes into town. Another trick is to put up "School zone 20 mph 7am - 5pm" signs with no lights and give out tickets even on Sat or Sun when there are no classes. That's just not right. A lot of hard working (or not working) people are trying to put food on the table and a $200 ticket means not eating.

RE: Considering toy hauler please advise

Toy haulers ten years ago were not built like toy haulers today so your cost basis is invalid. That being said my reason for a toy hauler is to travel the country and take our Harley, coming and going as we please and not being concerned with where to stay and where to eat. Not packing and unpacking all the time. Following the weather and going where the spirit take us is priceless. The toy hauler also allows us to have guests stay with us, is veRy versutal and large enough to be comfortable. I do not feel that it save money but it does allow freedom that is not available any other way. Good luck in finding something that works for you. 2X and besides the common advice on here is to buy a used one so you don't lose the deprecation and put up with the 12 months of fixing all that is wrong with a new one. I bought a 3 year old 40' toy hauler that was used 4 times and stored for under 30k. I also got my truck for under 15k. Had both now for 3 years and no major problems and both truck and 5th look new. I could never understand buying new when there are so many nice used ones out there for 40% - 70% less. My brother and I flip (buy/resell) 5th wheels and believe me there are some great deals out there.

RE: Where to buy a lot

No...no..no....Fl is full of hugh bitting bugs and reptiles the size of mini vans ! The heat and humidity are repressive.......and jumping in the ocean results in a 97.5 % chance of being eaten by a shark! Don't be fooled by the AC posts.......it seldom works! I'm sorry, I forgot about the new Fl resident rules about inviting people here when I posted. So: Nah, don't come to Florida. It's too hot and humid. We have bugs the size of Buick's. We have snakes that will eat you. There is a snake hunt going on now in the everglades. Everyday you hear about the gators eating someones dog or biting off someones leg or arm. It's way too crowded and over priced and filled with "old" people. I hear Texas is great!

RE: Camping near Disney World

There are 2 nice campgrounds about 15 miles from DW on I-4 and rt 27. Theme world And the KOA is next door. We stayed at Theme World and it was a nice place.

RE: Where to buy a lot

Gulf Waters RV Resort, Ft. Myers, FL. Naples can get very expensive and AL gets cold. I live outside of Ft. myers and from Dec - April there are not many bugs and the weather is beautiful. Today it's going to be 78* and sunny.

RE: RV Parks in/around New Orleans

I would pick Ponchartrain Landing. Camped there back in November of 2012, had a back-in site on the water. I enjoyed it. 2x. Ponchartrain Landing is a really nice park on the water, has a bar and a trolly to take you into downtown. It's one of my favorite parks.

RE: What mistakes have you made that might help others...?

This is for newbies. Buying your first RV trying to save money and doing no research. Buying an older gas MH with no slides only to find out it needed $8,000 worth of work to be road ready and had no room to even dress in and no power to make it up I-75 in Tn. Selling it for a $6,000 loss. Then, buying a 5th wheel thinking you could double tow to haul your Harley and finding out you can't double tow. Selling it for a $3,000 loss. Then, having to buy a toy hauler with 3 slides to finally get what you should have bought in the first place. Lesson learned.....

RE: question on water pressure regulator

Its a funny example of human response. Folks that paid a lot of money for the Watts Reg don't want to believe that a small economically priced device will work because it makes them feel like they wasted their money. They take it as a hit to their ego and pride. It a natural but unnecessary response. For someone who has actually used one of the newer high volume regs, they know that they work just fine and you can have great showers and even multiple users at the same time. For $9 you can find out for yourself. I threw away many $9 ones so by the time you spend the time and money to get new ones you can just buy a good one and be done with it. Those $9 ones restrict the flow, plug up and or break and may not regulate the pressure very well. Why waste your time and money?

RE: Floridian wants some summer cool

Pocono Mountains of PA. I lived there for over 20 years and you are right. We left FL last year to get out of the heat. Traveled up the mountains (GA,TN,VA) but everywhere was hotter than FL until we hit the Poconos. It was 101* in SW FL and 71* in the Poconos. Had to get out the jackets. We also like the Ironton area of Oh on the river. It was hot there last year but the year before it was beautiful.
