RE: Traveling with dogs that RV parks get concerned about

We travel with 4 terriers that are good, trained, socialized and listen to us, but the type of dogs does not concern me as much as does the owner have control of the dog or dogs. Sharon

RE: It's National Fossil Day - Where's your favorite place?

My house, DH is a geologist. All sorts of fossils here. Sharon I have to go no further than my own chair and no, I'm not a geologist. More like a living fossil when I look at what goes on around me. Same here with my husband, I call him a "Fossil" all the time. He is getting closer to the saying "older than dirt". Sorry honey! Sharon

RE: Christmas stuff in Texas

Clarks Gardens in Mineral Wells does Christmas. Just down the street from Lake Mineral Wells State Park. Look on the TPWD website for state parks having Christmas events. We always camp from Halloween until New Years in our state & COE parks. Sharon

RE: Urinary Incontinence

I found that bread the size of the pill works the best & if on a liquid medication it will absorb in the bread. Always used peanut butter too. Sharon

RE: Fishing Bridge Yellowstone

Started reading more on the parks around Yellowstone everyone is talking about. I have read on some other sites to stay in Idaho. What SP is in Idaho that is fairly close to Yellowstone. The other thing we have 4 small dogs thinking of finding a boarding kennel for our day trips to the park. Any within the area? I have not decided what time of next year we will be leaving. My plan was start out around the middle of May from TX, we will not be in a rush either. Sharon

RE: First camping trip with the dog

We travel with 4 terriers, Jack Russell, Toy Fox Terrier, Rat Terrier & Pug/Rat Terrier (Puggat) designer dog or mutt. They all are small and weigh between 19 to 9 lbs. Three sleep in bed with us and JR sleeps in the living room chair. He would like to be in our bed, but the girls will not let him. Anyway I want to get the DH to build a dog bed under our beds storage area for Spot to join us in the same room. As far as getting up at night I have motion sensor lights to see our way in the camper. Sharon

RE: Bringing kayak with you...

DH does like wishbone51, but he uses pool noodles with PVC pipe inside the noodles and straps it down from front to back and side to side putting the straps inside using cab doors to hold it in place. Been doing this for 10 years with not one problem and times 2 will be on top of the roof. Sharon

RE: Gas station help!

Lesson learn after DH did not pull in to a large open fueling station like I told him to do. DH tells me we have a half tank should be fine. Famous last words. Got down the road only to find it would be miles before the next one. By luck he drove in on fumes at a very small town that the station was open & diesel. Never again no matter what the gauge says he pulls in to top it off. Here in TX some can be far and few, plus being a Sunday. Other times you can get blocked in by other fueling up. Sharon Sharon

RE: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012

Maybe you users of Andersen levelers might find this handy. I used 1/4" rope to make it easy to pull the levelers out when getting off the levelers. These work from either side. DW likes them since she will be pulling the blocks. http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w368/BigBird651/2014%20Minnie%20Winnie%20RV/IMG_5701_zpsamlsq5ry.jpg width=640 http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w368/BigBird651/2014%20Minnie%20Winnie%20RV/IMG_5702_zpsyttjg4w9.jpg width=640 DH did that to ours also. Really helps getting them out. Sharon

RE: Rockport Texas

If you do not need FHU's go get a site on the bay at Goose Island. It is a great place to stay and fish right out the door of your camper. You will still be close to town. Sharon

RE: How do you feel about people walking through your campsite?

Not pleased with them doing it and has been done many times. We have been setting out front of the camper and I have 4 dogs that go crazy barking in protecting what is our space. Sharon

RE: Travel Trailer Inspection in Texas

We get ours inspected every year with it being 9,000 lbs. On that I thought it was going to be for cars, trucks on inspection stickers & tags. The local news & DPS was not real clear on how it is done. I went to get my inspection done to find out as I renew my tags it will get inspected for them. I was also told you have 90 days to get it inspected before the tags are due. Will need to find out about the campers inspection too. It is hard to find someone here in Midland that does inspections. Now DH takes the camper to a trucking center for inspection. Sharon

RE: west texas state parks

Abilene would be the best. Lake Colorado City would be fine but the lake is low and no sites on the water from our long drought not fracing. Been to Abilene 1 time and liked it for our 5 day stay. Balmorhea would be my next pick but it is still over 200 miles from Abilene. Big Spring as told by someone else has no camping. No idea what your plans are but the DFW area has lots of state and COE parks to stay at too. Sharon

RE: Cedar Hill State Park

DW and I stayed there last fall. Lots of various sites to choose from. Some longer platforms, some shorter, near water/away from water. Use Google maps to get an idea. If they are like most state parks, if they are not full and you see a different site you like better than the one you are assigned, you can go back and ask to change. They are usually accommodating. One thing I do remember is there were ants all over the place that we had to deal with. Yes! Lots of them, I had forgotten all about the ants around the campsite. Our grandson walk across a very large mound, good thing we had spray we always take with us. Sharon
