RE: Unusual Things People Camp With

Met a fella in a Bounder with a dozen German Shepherds; a couple in a houseboat (nowhere near any water) and a guy in an old military wall tent with two burros. (They were no relation to me. :B!).

RE: Theft at campgrounds

We haven't lost anything, but if we can't afford to lose it we don't leave it out.
The last few years folks have been losing things around Quartzsite AZ; mostly generators. I'm sure it's happening elsewhere as well. Sign of the times, I guess.

RE: Iraq What to send a young guy

My sister and I made fifty or sixty crocheted hats in desert camo. We made them plain so they'd fit under helmets.

1) No.
2) No.
3. No.
Your heart is in the right place, but for all I know, you could be the boogeyman. And how do you know I'm not the boogeyman?

RE: Ever Been Asked to Leave?

Yes, in Flagstaff, AZ.
Same here. We stopped only to buy stuff, knowing this Wal-Mart didn't encourage overnights. Ole Barney came 'roaring' over in his golf cart, caught us coming out the door and yelled that we could not overnight in HIS lot.
We about-faced, got back on board and drove away. (K Mart was glad to have us.) Called later and got an apology, but we don't go to that one any more. Kingman in general doesn't seem too RV-friendly.

RE: Echo bay, Lake Mead?

Folks do camp at Logandale Trails too. You turn by the VIP Chinese restaurant, cross the railroad tracks and up the hill. We were leery of getting our DSDP in and out, and it would be nasty if it rained.

RE: Echo bay, Lake Mead?

Boondocking at Echo Bay campground will cost you ten dollars; five with the 'geezer pass'.
Better (meaning free) is Simplot land a few miles south of Overton. Many stay there all winter.
Stewart's Point is south of Overton too; about ten or twelve miles. The road down to the point is kind of bumpy and dusty, but not real bad. Any size RV is okay. There's a vault toilet, but no other amenities.
You can dump and fill for free at Overton Beach. That's all that's there anymore; lake is gone. Oh, there is also a dumpster there.
Government Wash would be my last choice. Too dang close to Las Vegas for me. The couple times we've been there, a lot of gang-looking people around. It was very trashy too.

RE: Funny cat stories (nothing mean allowed!)

Years ago we had a barn cat named Pepper. He was a tom. In his 'spare time' he sat on the porch roof. If anyone came in the yard, Pepper would yowl LOUDLY in warning.
Neighbors and friends knew about Pepper, but strangers were almost afraid to get out of the car, especially if they couldn't see him.
