RE: MONTANA TRUCK CAMPER RALLY JULY 11TH-14TH 2013

Now it's coming together. Rich modeling T-Shirts and sunglasses. Now Rich has a video production team at the rally. I think Rich is going Hollywood on us. :) Sounds like fun.

RE: TC to Alaska on Ferry

Another thread about Alaska and ferry system. You should be able to find several previous threads on the subject while working this thread for answers you can't find via searches. Good luck.

RE: Finally Posted PNW Spring Rally 2013 Pictures.

Great pictures. Brings back the memories. Looked like a typical Spring Day in the PNW, and looked like everyone had a good time. My Grandfather use to run tug boats up Deception Pass in the 40's and 50's. One of the few that used that route, new the currents and the Secrets of the pass. We always heard good stories from him about Deception pass. Scott Hi Scott, You're still living in the islands getting ready to move, buy a TC, and truck right? Puget sound has several historic old forts that are now state parks which are wonderful places to camp and explore. That's only a small part of what's available to go and see around here. You would enjoy this area a lot. J

RE: Finally Posted PNW Spring Rally 2013 Pictures.

I forgot to ask back in the spring about that park...is there a lot of jet noise from them flying overhead from the naval base? there are so many state parks I need to check out around that part of the state. I have a goal to see every state park. maybe next spring, my sons spring brake will line up with that weekend trip. Yes there are lots of aircraft types making noise which is part of the ambience. We like this park and it gets filled in the summer. As for next years rally, I don't know if it will work for spring break since it coincides with the tulip festival about the same weekend every year. It has also been held at several different parks and I recall RV park or two. We'll see who picks up and organizes the event next year. This event deserves more participation than it got this year. The usual participants and new comers that attended were all very nice people. This event is also an excellent family friendly deal with all the different things to do and festival stuff going on. It is an event open to all. It's about ten months away so lots of time to plan. Next year if we play host again, I'll try to remember not to forget my Coleman propane table stove.

RE: How much solar?

I'll weigh in here again quickly. I understand the Kyrocera 140 watt panels are intendedfor RV usage. Check your intended installation area for shadow casting on the panels. AC units and open vents or hatches are major culprits of unintended shadowing. Try amsolar and arizona wind and sun for prices and other stores.

RE: How much solar?

I have a 60 watt panel. It puts out realistically about 48 watts with peak summer sun. During winter or cloudy days it drops to perhaps 5 to 15 watts. Winters need shore power. I'd go for at least one but prefer 2 Kyocera 140 watt panels. Mostdays will not be perfect for power production.

RE: Swan Song

Four months on the road! Can't do that in a plane or hotel. Have you thought this through? The TC is a great way to get away for the weekend. A trip doesn't always have to be a grand tour. A weekend escape is can be a "little gusto". Having that TC ready to go has been a great source for spur of the moment fun. If you have to try jet/hotel travel, two of our favorite trips were 10 days in Manhattan and 10 days on MAUI. In NY, we spent time going to museums and historic places and had an extraordinary time. It was also fleet week while we were there. MAUI, we rented a convertible and drove to all the destinations and side trips we could fit in. It wasn't enough time and we will go there again someday. Nothing like watching the sunset from the top of a volcano then stargazing for a couple hours after that. I hope this won't be your last TR but if be it so, We wish you great adventures in your future. Side Note: It's been a bad year for losing folks on the forum.

RE: Notice of Trip Reports ownership transition, June 8th 2013

Silver, Thank you for all your work to constantly maintain and update the TR section. Outsourcing to SAB should be good as he and Sally have shown great enthusiasm for the TC Forum. Congratulations to Steve and best wishes to you and Dunes.

RE: a 'Little' trip report

Its called the snow line for a reason. I thought I could make it through one year and drove 100 yards into it. The snow kept getting deeper and it stopped me. I was able to back out ok and decided to come back in a couple weeks when the snow was more melted. Nice trip pictures.

RE: Mt Adams Weekend

Scott16, funny how just last night I was reading about Fletcher Class Destroyers of WWII and the Spruance Class DD-992 USS Fletcher you were on and finally the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers of today. Many interesting namesakes like Churchill and Hopper. Curahee, Glad you got out and saw the sights. Was the Goldendale telescope open for viewing while you were there? I've driven by Brooks Memorial several times but never stayed there. It is close to the road but also looks on the map to have some decent trails and maybe some fishing. Thanks for the pics. Nice camper and have you thought about getting a set of Torklift wobble stoppers for your front jacks if you are going to use the TC off truck.

RE: days out camping goal

We'll hit 30 to 40 this year. We're at 6 now. We got 52 a few years back whilst Kelliator was between jobs. This year, we'll be limited to only 3 day weekends, Friday night through Sunday. I don't anticipate any long distance trips either for the same reason. We'll get what we get and be happy we got out.

RE: Where Are You Going In Your Truck Camper This WeekEnd?

You just had your Chevy Truck modified for right side control last year or so didn't you? Now you have to do it to the Dodge. When a man wants to upgrade, so let it be written, so let it be done. Congratulations on a new setup. Looking forward to the obligatory pictures.

RE: kettle falls washington - weekend trip report

Nice report Rich. I like that campground too. We did a drive by through that area on the way home from Montana last year. The drive on Highway 20 in the NE part of the state is gorgeous. We stayed home to avoid crowds this wknd but I do smell a golf trip to Lake Wenatchee and staying at a smaller FS CG near by coming up soon.

RE: Trip report, part three: 2013 Overland Expo

Thanks JEFE. It's interesting to see the rigs and what people have done to them to make them work better for them. Bryan's full time rig deserves a tour on its own. The trailer bridge is a good idea.

RE: R.V. Net Truck Camper Members

This is a great start to my Memorial Day. Congratulations on your remission. I'm sure sharing in your success and joy is pretty darn good thanks in itself to those who helped. To see you succeed was the reason to help. Best wishes for your continued success.
