RE: Passed Outdoor Express on I-81 Today

We live about 10 minutes from there. OERV is where we bought our TC. They are a great dealership.

RE: Pop-up ranking?

We have a Palomino Bronco 1500 and love it so far. This is our first truck camper. We also have a travel trailer, and really didn't want to go into debt for a hard side, or a real expensive one. We find ourselves using the Palomino more and more.
I am sure more will chime in on this topic, but for our needs we are very happy.

RE: Where are all the young(er) TT/RV camping lovers?

Good idea! We would be in.
I say we have some kind of meet up! I am 48 (but act like I'm 30) and my wife is 48 (and acts like 31). We live in the DFW area. Let's go somewhere!
Have cell phone and wireless internet will travel!

RE: Travel Resorts of America question for members

We used to be members. So thankful we are NOT members no longer. The only way we got out was we had a 5 year trial membership ( they done away with that program fast)
Sure they make joining the Resorts is a wonderful thing, in fact is not. I can set and type out pages and pages of things we have seen, heard and experienced at TRA. If you do a google search, you will find a members yahoo/MSN group of people who are very unhappy with their memberships.
To me "Resort" camping means you have to fight for a camp site ( even know they promise you a site the waiting list is sometimes over 100 people long even know you call on your 60 or 90 days out) the sites are packed and you have no privacy, and you have to put up with the resort making new rules to benefit themselves and not members.
Last time we checked a deluxe membership was 8 thousand plus your yearly dues plus you have to pay a yearly fee for Coast to Coast. We can spend 8 thousand going to wonderful campgrounds throughout the country instead of going to the same place time after time.
If you have any questions, please private message me. I would be happy to tell you anything you want to know.

RE: campground listing?

We usually do a little online research before we head to a campground. We use RVparkreviews and also if we are traveling we use our Iphone apps to find out what is around the area.

RE: Driving with refer on propane

We have never turned ours off, in either TC or TT when traveling. Like mentioned above...if we didn't feel it was safe we would not run it at all.

RE: Rude drivers

So far the worst road for us for rudeness is I-81, I-70 between Hancock, Md and Frederick, Md and of course the DC Beltway. Other than that we have not ran into much rudeness anywhere else.
As for turn signals I always use them regardless, even if there is not a car to be seen around me. It is not just common courtesy--it is pure safety.
Other than not using turn signals at all, what I hate is those drivers who change lanes and halfway over they decide to turn the signal on. Whats the point if your already changed lanes!?!
Safe Travels!

RE: We know where your paper towels went.

I have the same holder but we got the free standing one so we can move it from inside the camper to outside with no issues. We do like ours and have never had a problem. The price I believe was around $20 at Bed Bath & Beyond.
I purchased a very nice paper towel holder from Bed, Bath & Beyond that has a ratcheting mechanism in it. This prevents unwanted unrolling, PLUS it also allows you to tear off a towel(s) with only one hand. Was about 20 bucks. They had a wall mounted version and also a countertop version. No more unfurling towels.

RE: Where are all the young(er) TT/RV camping lovers?

We are the same way! We got married when I was 17 and he was 18 ( we are now 33 &34) and have been camping/rving ever since. We don't have any children either, so we do feel left out at some campgrounds. Most of our friends think we are nuts going camping. They are used to luxury condos and resorts...and think that RVing means living in the dirty old woods! LOL. They are the ones missing out on a great life.
We're the odd couple out in our social circle- we have a trailer and love to use it!
We're 32 and 31 respectively, but have owned a trailer since 2008. We're always the youngest on the campground! We meet wonderful folks, but they're all at a very different stage of life than we are.
To make us even more odd, we don't have children, so any young families we see aren't in the same stage of life either.
Wish younger folks would look at camping and spending time in nature as better entertainment (and more rewarding) than bar-hopping and random parties.
Ok, rant over! :)

RE: what did you name your rig?

Our Sunline when hitched to our truck is called "SunStroke"
Our Palomino Truck camper is named "Turtle" cause it is like a home we haul on the trucks back.. ;-)

RE: Show your Memorial Day spread

I don't have any pics availible, but I did make some killer BBQ chicken on my Webber kettle grill. We put some SBR's on it and tasted perfect. (Hickory smoke too!)
Yes! I agree you did make some awesome chicken! I managed to get a picture of it. It was very good and the baked beans were awesome too.
Thanks again for all your hard work :)

RE: Memory Foam Mattress Topper Question

Exactly what we done! Love our memory foam topper from Sams's.
We purchased a 2 1/2" memory foam topper from Sam's and did just as you suggested with the topper (in its slip cover) on the mattress, then the fitted sheet, flat sheet and lastly the comforter. It works great and is SOOOO comfy.
