RE: PSI question

If the tires have 1760 lb on them you should run 50 PSI, if less weight then you could run less PSI.
Over inflated tires will wear faster, have less traction for braking, and are more liable to cause trailer jackknifing. Obviously the ride suffers, and potential damage due to potholes increases.
If you tell us the ACTUAL weight on each wheel when fully loaded we can then tell you what psi would be recommended by many manufacturers.
For example I have a little single axle TT with ST205/75R15's on it. When fully loaded, as we use it, it weighs 1580#. The tongue weight is 200#, so assuming equal loading there is 690# on each tire. Normal DESIGNER recommended psi of 15 psi will handle a load of 905#.
Does anybody think I should really inflated to 50 psi? If I do so the trailer will jackknife in a heartbeat.
I actally run 20 psi, 15 is a bit too low for my comfort, but I'm sure not running 50 psi. It would be like running solid steel wheels with no tires. Ever ride in an old buckboard?

RE: AC isn't cooling

I have read that nobody can recharge them, no idea if it is true.
However
Did you measure the VOLTAGE inside the RV when the A/C was trying to run? If under 110 VAC, THAT is your problem. Fix the voltage issue and try again.

RE: Trailer Brake Problems and Braking Performance

Can't help, but have a question. How long had 5er sat unused? Every TT we've owned had crappy brakes for about 5 miles until the rust? wore off after sitting a few months. Maybe? Did you try gravel lockup on the way home?

RE: Charge controller recommendations

IMHO you should at least look at the BatteryMINDer solar controller. Sure works great for me, in fact I have two of them. I like the automatic desulfation feature.

RE: Luxury Diesel SUV as tow vehicle

Just be SURE you find out the VEHICLE tongue weight spec. You need 13% to 15% of the FULLY LOADED TT weight on the tongue. When we looked at the vehicles you list several years ago, NONE had a tongue weight spec allowing us to tow a 7800# TT.
Note I did NOT say the spec on the TV receiver, but on the vehicle itself.
Horsepower is not the issue, a Jonnie one pop (an old tractor) could tow near anything with near zero horsepower.

RE: can I use a site with 50amp with my 30amp plug??

Some folks have never seen 50 amp only sites. We have seen dozens over the years. Get the adapter.

RE: The ideal campground..

Far away from any interstates and cities, with lots of trees and grass. Power, sewer, & water hookups. All other hookups to cost extra. All kids amusement things to be far far away from any camp spots. A place to run dogs.
Wide enough that we can unload handicap scooters out side toyhauler door.

RE: help with water pump problem

There is a one way valve on the city water inlet. It isn't working. Maybe you can remove screen and jiggle it a bit, or you can replace valve, or as said above just screw a hose shutoff on to city water inlet. We added a shutoff on our last TT for that reason, worked great for years. Sold it that way too.

RE: Killed my solar panels.......

Panels often have a diode in series to prevent panels draining battery at night. If it really is the panels, not the controller, I'd look for the diodes first. Manufacturer might be able to say where diodes are.
Good luck!

RE: Recommendations for RV Garage?

I'd run wiring for a 50 amp rig. If burying wire, PUT IN CONDUIT or some %$#$ critter will eat part of the wires making you rerun wires. Do not ask how I discovered this.
I'd also look to see how hard it was to add a dump inlet. Sure would be nice.
Be sure garage is WIDE and LONG enough that you can use a creeper all around, even after the junk starts piling up around the walls. Know someone who has to move RV out of garage to work on it. Boy is he unhappy about that.
If you plan on washing inside, not something I would do, have the foundation extend up the walls about 16" above the floor. Makes spraying floor much easier, and saves wetting sheetrock.

RE: Unhitching an Equalizer 4-Point

Yep, that's all you have to do. Just jack it up until all the pressure is off the bars and swing them off.
I've been running an Equalizer brand hitch since 2007...and that's all I've ever done.
Same with me, except I've done it that way since 2003. I threw the snap up bar away many years ago. I just raise it until I can swing them on.

RE: Another Tire Question

I guess the manufacturer of the wheels on my last three trailers are also misinformed.
Current STEEL wheels on Keystone Outback rated for 2600#. Came with ST225/75R15 LR-D. Note LR-E specs 2830# for 80 psi in that size.
Steel(?) wheels on Thor Wanderer rated for 65 psi, 2150#. Came with ST205/75R15 LR-C.
Current STEEL wheels on Mirage rated for 50 psi, 1820#. Came with ST205/75R15 LR-C.
Everyone can do as they wish. I wish to not exceed published (or stamped) specs.

RE: Bear bell for dog?

Glad your story had a happy ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bears, and many other critters, do NOT like surprises. Most will leave IF they hear you coming. Bear bells are mostly used to avoid surprising bears. My dog wears a bear bell when we go walking. It is ALSO helpful for me to keep track of him, though he never gets very far away. As I recall it is from Silverfoot.
IMHO the kind that look like sleigh bells are useless, you want the kind that looks like a small cow bell.

RE: Equalizer hitch size, how big is too big?

You want bars for 13% to 15% of the TT GVWR, or a bit higher.
The heavier bars, above what is needed, will affect the ride. In extreame cases they can bend the TT tongue. Just buy the correct size and be happy.

RE: Another Tire Question

Several points. First, as said, what are your RIMS rated for? Rating usually stamped on rear, or in valley UNDER the tire. Putting LR-D on a LR-C rim is a THIRTY PERCENT OVERLOAD. Not what I call safe. Obviously LR-E is an even worse overload.
Second what is your current rim WIDTH? Most ST205/75R15's I've seen are mounted on 5 or 5.5" rim widths. Most ST225/75R15's seem to require a 6" minimum rim width. Again, be careful what you do.
