RE: Full tank of Propane=How many days of usage?

The furnace burns one (1) pound of propane per hour of flame time and is the major user of gas. Avoid furnace use if possible as you only get 20 hours of heat out of a propane cylinder.
If camping without electric, though, propane is the least of your worries as the furnace will suck the lil' Group 24 battery dry in about 12 hours of flame time. :)
Dual tanks with an automatic changeover valve are standard equipment on hybrids the past 8 or 10 years. A second tank is inexpensive.

RE: New to RVs

After the deep breaths get a good brake controller so you can stop this critter!
Tekonsha Prodigy P2 or P3. Nothing less. Since the dealer sold you a too-heavy trailer I expect he'll push his "best selling" cheap time-delay brake controller on you too. Don't take it.
You'll need a weight distribution hitch (WDH) too. Search here.

RE: can I use a site with 50amp with my 30amp plug??

I have never seen a 50amp only site. 50amp sites have 50, 30, and 20/15 amp outlets in the same box.
I've carried adapters for over a decade and never needed them other than one time the 30a connector was so corroded I plugged into the 50.

RE: Rockwood Roo vs Flagstaff Shamrock

They are identical. Decals are the only difference. Maybe, just maybe, there are different fabric choices. But that's it. No way as drastically different as Chrysler/Dodge or Camero/Firebird.
The factory just makes Roos unless they somehow get an order for a Shamrock and then they put on different decals.
Local Roo dealer told me the Roo was superior to the Shamrock, of course. What an idiot!

RE: help with water pump problem

Remove the little screen and push the button hidden underneath a few times to free it's motion. Should cure the check valve problem. If not it's replaceable.
I've given up on the little rubber cover and have a solid, screw in plug on our fresh water inlet. Solves both problems.
Putting antifreeze in the fresh water tank is a poor procedure. For starters this tank is never completely empty so you're pumping diluted antifreeze into the system and this "tasteless" antifreeze ain't tasteless. Your water will taste "pink" all next season.

RE: New to RVs

You were duped by the dealer. This is more than a common newby mistake, it's deliberate dealer misleading just to sell a trailer to someone who should not be towing it.
We still don't know what minivan is being used. Chrysler transmissions are notorious for failing in this service.
Maximum towing capacity is just that, maximum. It is not a planning number, it's a Do Not Exceed number. Use the Gross Vehicle Weight as the planning number which in this case is 4500 pounds a half ton more than your minivan's maximum towing capacity if the van is empty -- which it won't be.
There are a myriad of "towing rules." A simple one is the 1000 Pound Rule: The tow vehicle should have 1000 pounds more maximum towing capacity than the trailer's gross weight. For this trailer I'd not tow it with less than a 5500 pound rated tow vehicle. This accounts for loads in the tow vehicle. Passengers and their stuff can easily exceed 200 pounds each. Toss in the typical 60 pound Golden Retriever and it gets heavier.
For safe towing I'd not tow more than a 2500 pound gross weight popup with this minivan. That's one of the smaller popups.

RE: New to RVs

Minivans rarely have the capability to tow a 4500 pound camper. Not for very long, anyway. My Roo weighs 5000 pounds and I tow with an Expedition since the Explorer struggled too much.
Whatcha got?

RE: Axel maintenance and bearings?

Boat trailers may have Zerks to "top off" the grease but you still need a complete tear down, cleaning, and repacking annually.
If this is a new trailer this needs to be done next spring. My dealer does it for about $70 per axle and I never get dirty.

RE: Cleaning Tent ends.

Like I said, Woolite (a soap) was recommended for the Sumbrella (canvas type fabric). I recall detergent was specifically a no-no. Only talking about the side panels, the roofs are all vinyl.

RE: Shopping Jayco Jayfeather Hybrid -Thoughts?

Yep, the price is way out of whack for most of the USA. I can't imagine a new 19 footer would sell for over $15K and only require a "road trip" to bring her home.
2006 trailer could have been made as early is May 2005 making it 8 years old. 8 years sitting out in the sun and rain...
I'm thinking more like $5K for an inflated California price for an 8 year old trailer that cost maybe $11K new.

RE: Rockwood Roo 17 Floor Project

Keep us updated! This is a '07? Looks to be worth the effort since you have the skills!
Photos nearly made me sick earlier this morning. I've never seen the floor structure before. The cored floor sections serve as insulation and their construction makes them quite stiff although they appear to be non structural and just fit between the aluminum joists.

RE: Cleaning Tent ends.

"Un-waterproofing" when cleaning depends on the material.
The Sunbrella sidewalls on our popup was cleaned with cold water and woolite and then re-treated with 303 protectorate.
100% vinyl tentage, like our Roo, is just cleaned with "car wash" like the rest of the camper.

RE: We're officially a 2 camper family

The Blue Ox Sway Pro literature and videos are convincing.
No personal experience myself but I see nothing to fear and hook up seems very easy. Hitch is claimed to be very quiet, something my Equalizer is NOT! :)
The bolt-on brackets on the trailer are a nice option.

RE: Tongue Weight calculating

Like Wayne says. The "dry" tongue weight is not what you need to be concerned with, it's the loaded tongue weight.
The "dry" tongue weight of the Roo 23SS is listed at 435 pounds. As you can see my measured tongue weight is about 675 pounds and Wayne's is at least 600.
The Rockwood 2604 specs at just over 6600 pounds fully loaded so the truck should handle it nicely albeit not as easily as the Roo 23SS. Tongue weight should remain under 900 (my guess!).
I can't imagine, though, that your F150 will be rated any less than my Expedition's 900 pound tongue weight limit (with a WDH).

RE: Tongue Weight calculating

I'm here but I'm missing your question.
You determine tongue weight with a scale. :)
Here's mine:

The acceptable tongue weight on the truck is probably 800-900 pounds with a WDH, maybe as high as 1000. It'll be in the truck's manual.

Wait a minute. 5 + 4 + 2 = 11 :O and you want to squeeze that many bodies into a travel trailer of some sort? You're kidding!
You need several tents (or a converted Pullman sleeper rail car).

RE: Begginer questions on battery

So what's the difference between being parked at a campground or parked in your driveway? No difference IF you're connected to shorepower. Which many (most?) of us are NOT between trips.
The parasitic loads loads in my Roo (LP detector, radio) will suck a Group 24 battery dry in two (2) weeks if the battery is left connected.
On constant charge be sure to check the electrolyte level in the battery periodically as these can be "boiled" dry.
