Buy the way, the Toyota guys do stand up...
RE: Another TT/TV question
I am driving myself crazy worrying about the realistic towing capabilities of my truck
Don't drive yourself crazy... Your truck is more than enough for the task.
I did pull a 25' TT (4,500 lbs loaded) for 10 years with my actual 2003 Pathfinder with NO problem at all. I'v been in Florida twice, around Gaspe peninsula, North shore of St-Lawrence river (Quebec), on the US east coast many, many times and more. NO, NO, NO problem at all in 10 years.
RE: EPA finds Hyundai, Kia overstated gas mileage
Ouch!
Meanwhile, my Passat diesel is rated at 30mpg city, 40mpg highway. I've seen as high as 50.7 on 200 mile trip with 12k mile lifetime average of mixed driving at 38mpg. And I use all 230 ft-lbs of torque quite frequently!
I confirm !
On two trips with my Passat and driving at speed limits (from Montreal to London Ontario and from Montreal to Ogunquit Maine and back), I got an average of 4,3 L/100km (55 m/USgal) and 4,2 L/100km (56 m/USgal). My Passat model is a Trendy+ TDI whit a six speed manual tranny.
For usual average millage around town, it's 5,5 to 5,6 L/100km or
(42,4 m/USgal)
And I have 12,000 km (7,500 miles)
Maybe we should send a check back to VW... :B
RE: Unusual Towing Vehicles :Can you guess it?
Another ''unusual'' thing for us is the TT door on the left side...
:@
I know, in Australia, like many other former British colony, you drive on the ''other'' side.
And here in Canada, I would not be surprise with the actual gvt in Ottawa (conservative tories) and Harper as our prime minister, we may end up to drive on the other side too... He must have a picture of the queen even in his shower... :R
:)
RE: Unusual Towing Vehicles :Can you guess it?
It's a Mazda small truck just like a Honda Ridgeline.
What is the engine available in Australia ? I would guest a 4 cyl turbo-diesel (around 2,5 liter) or V6 +/- 3 liters (TD).
RE: Serious Trailer Sway
Any TT (or trailer) with not enough weight on the tongue will be very unstable, whatever the TV and/or speed.

TT axle question
What is the difference between a Lippert torsion (rubber ride) axle and a Dexter axle ? I do have a Lippert axle on my VISA but I can see the ''D'' of Dexter on the brakes drums...
Lippert, are they just a reasaler of Dexter ?
RE: Getting the best mileage possible
''Getting the best mileage possible''
Well, I just sold my 25' TT and my Path will follow soon. It was a very great combo for the last 10 years.
I just got a new Passat 2012 TDI 6 speed manual tranny and I will take delivery of my new TT (VISA 19ERD 2013) in june from Can-Am RV in London Ontario (Andy Thomson, the best of the best specialist in towing). I saw so many of these type of combo in Europe and if it work so well over there, it will work well over here too...
BTW, the Passat TDI has a tow ''capacity'' of 2,000 kg (with brakes on the trailer) on the other side of the Atlantic ocean...
My fuel consuption will be better WITH the TT than ANY PU solo in the best conditions !
And believe me, this is not a troll.
