RE: New additions

Thanks for the well wishes all! We're amazed at how well they are taking a liking to us. We all, as pet lovers, know the satisfaction of unconditional love :)

New additions

After having to let both our Goldens go to the Rainbow Bridge this year (Tucker in Jan. and Penny in Oct.) it only took a few weeks for us to realize that we couldn't be without for very long. We decided to adopt from Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue in PA, which turned out to be a top notch facility. We love that we are able to help give some a good home, and big yard to play in. Here are Augie (around 6-7 yrs) and Daisy (8 months). Augie was a stray, found in a shelter by the rescue, and Daisy was turned in by their owners after growling at their young child who had food in its hand (what a shock) We have only had them 4 days but are adjusting well to their new surroundings. http://kensfamily.com/images/and.jpg

RE: Do dogs go to Heaven?

Google "Rainbow bridge" Yep, this is my idea of how it goes. All pets wait for their owners at the Rainbow Bridge, where they have been made all healthy again. Then they cross over the Bridge to Heaven together.

RE: Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge

Sadly, we had to let our 13 yr old Golden Penny go off to Rainbow Bridge this past Wednesday. She had a great life with us, we raised her from a puppy. There, She'll meet her Brother, our 14 yr old Golden, Tucker who we lost in January. They both traveled with us everywhere and were the reason we got into the camping lifestyle, so we could travel and have them along. The next trip out will be very odd since we had our Goldens since buying the MH. We are looking into adopting one (or two) from a Golden rescue, hopefully we won't have to search long. Miss you Tucker and Penny, but we know you're in a better place. We know you're waiting for us, along with Aja, and Lucky, your Golden cousins. http://kensfamily.com/images/Penny21.jpg

RE: ABS light

It's possible since you're about the right age (the MH not you ;) for the speed sensor to go bad in the rear end. It's like a $25 part and takes 5 minutes to change, soooooo if you feel lucky and dont want to pay for a shop to fix it or pull the code, its worth a shot. I was lucky to be able to get a scanner that verified the problem.

RE: Do you enjoy watching movies in your coach?

The FBI warning that's displayed at the beginning of rented movies should include a photo of my wife :B HA! good one. We watch alot of movies, concert dvds also. 2 interior / 1 exterior TV...all DVD capable so everyone can have their own ;)

RE: Onan Generator

Sadly, I don't run mine all that often, but try to whenever I can especially over the winter months, though I do run fuel stabilizer. No surging yet.

RE: Anyone upgrade their 3500lb hitch to a 6000 or 8000lb hitch?

Nothing wrong with upgrading your hitch but it WON'T change the towing capacity of your motor home. Exactly........engine, chassis, and other factors all contribute.

RE: Onan Generator

I believe the hunting you describe indicates a problem with the genset's output voltage. The genset should not surge. Make sure there are no obstructions around the linkage. Could still be a carb issue though. Probably best to have a Cummins service cntr take a look.

RE: Ford Truck Myths,Urban Legends, Fairy Tales....and sales!

All very informative and detailed info. Though, I can just go by my personal experience as well as a good friend of mine's. Over 100K on my last 2 Explorers, and 155K on my Expedition prompted me to go for an Escape recently. On pickups, a friend of mine is a mechanic for US Airways. He noticed at the airport, where they use Fords, that these pickups would sometimes run constantly for 4 or 5 days straight especially in the winter. Shift changes happen, they dont want to heat up the cab again....sothey just let'em run and fill'em with fuel. So he decided on Ford for his personal use. First one went 255K miles, and was sold, still being used. His current is at 235K miles, and never any major problem. Most problem he's seen is a few rusted parts from all the salt on the roads from the northeast winters. All just observations.

RE: Replacing Toad this fall

They may be made here in the US but corporate profits still go back to Japan. Exactly.

Leaking HWH leveler solenoid

Actually leaking from the T release handle on one of mine. I was looking through the HWH site...they have tons of docs, but didnt see anything helpful. Can the seal be replaced? Or do I have to replace the entire solenoid? Thanks in advance.

RE: Ford or Honda???

Yeah I've heard it all before...nothing ever goes wrong with a Honda ;) Not for me though.........Just traded my Explorer for an Escape. Great little ride. Had all Fords, Expedition - 155K miles, 3 Explorers 100K on 2, never a problem, do all maint myself. Stuck with Ford, had nothing but good experiences.

RE: Gatlinburg Tennessee Ford Truck Rally July 17-19, 2009

Hey Joe, this sounds great! Reminds me of the Expedition Xpeditions we used to attend in Harrisonburg, VA with rides through the George Washington Natl forest. If you are familiar with the GWNF, you know it's not just gravel roads.........lots of washed out, rocky, challenging "trails". I was surprised at what the stock X was capable of ;) I used to own a '00 Expedition and met a bunch of owners on an online forum and attended 3 years. I believe we had 30-35 X's at it's peak. It was some sight seeing all those trucks headin ' down those trails in the forest. I've since downsized, since my needs changed with the kids all grown, and too many other hobbies to maintain and support. Ya'll have a good time, I know we used to have a blast on these trips. HERE is a link to us on the 4th.

RE: To do near Gatlinburg

This is all GREAT info folks...........I'm sure this will keep us busy. I found a site that details some off road trails near Cades Cove....will definitely try some of those. Thanks again.

RE: To do near Gatlinburg

Thanks, staying at Twin Creek. We have those few places on our list already. Hoping to find some good BBQ. I also found a musclecar museum in Seiverville, which I'll do.

To do near Gatlinburg

Hi folks, We will be there w/o the 22nd, and have done some searching, found the usual touristy stuff....Dollywood, SMNP, downtown, but looking for the out-of-the-way things to do and places to eat. Good BBQ, places to hear bands, out of the ordinary shops ...etc. The forum was very helpful in our trip to Nashville, we were referred some great places. We all especially liked the Trace Pkway and Leipers Fork recommends. Hopefully someone can do the same for the Gatlinburg area. Thanks.

RE: Anyone using a 2009 Escape?

It's not like you're cutting up a collector car and hurting future value. I also assume you'll keep the car for several years. If you have the toad you want, put the tow bar on it. Yep will go the tow bar route. Escape came in but got put into dealer stock in error and they SOLD it....so now awaiting another. They're knocking more $$ off the price for my trouble. What I really need is a nice trailer like yours, to haul my '66 Goat around ;)
