RE: Are the six point level systems worth it?

I'd like to have it, but not willing to give up cargo capacity for the convenience. Also after reading some of the posts about gremlins in the systems, seems like many more components to go bad.
We always camp on soft surfaces, so I just dig small holes for the tires on the high side and drop the power stabilizers.

RE: 2 CAR TOWING TRAILER

Plenty of flat decks out there that could handle the job, but your overall length will be a problem in CA. We are limited to 65' total in an RV configuration. Maybe a stacker trailer would be your answer?
On another note, if the trailer's GVWR exceeds 10,000lb, a commercial class A license would be required for legal operation as well.

RE: Bigger Freshwater Tank

Connect the two grey tanks by adding another valve on your main drain outlet or take outdoor showers?

I'd go for a tank on the truck then.

RE: Bigger Freshwater Tank

My rig has a tad more CCC than yours and there is no way I could haul another 50gals of water without being grossly over on the axles and GVW unless I left the toys at home.
13 days out boondocking and 110 gals is more than enough for the three of us.

RE: Balancing RV tires

Usually the larger drums on pickups are balanced. When you get a new drum from NAPA, they aren't, so I balance them. Not worth having the customer possibly come back with an issue.
I balanced both my drum assemblies and tires while i was packing the bearings and machining the out of round drums the first weekend after taking delivery.
If it rotates at any decent speed, its worth balancing regardless if you can feel it in the truck. A quality installer will do it without being told.

RE: IS any one listening???

What would it cost to add a little more steel to the frame, better tires, and decent brakes and suspension? Solar, inverter and batteries? $10K more in materials? I think the biggest problem is that there isn't a way to be able to turn key manufacture a unit like that every 2-3 days, so the build time would double.
I figured the target market majority of buyers to aren't using them like we do?
You know, the people who drop $80+K on the unit with the most options, get them out 3 times a year on holiday weekends, and run the genny 24 hours a day or park in an RV city with hookups.
I'm either figuring on an upscale semi custom or build my own next time around. I have 16 years before my planned retirement and I'd like to have a new one ready around that time.

I smell the rubber tires and floor more than anything fuel related.

RE: Oregon dunes

If you would like to get away from the deafening, rowdy, drunken, public campground trash, this is your spot.
wow, way to profile your fellow riders and supporters of the sport. Please don't label all ATV'ers that way.
Obviously not all ATV'ers are that way. It just seems like every time we go to a "name brand" location, there is at least 1 camp in every 50 that have the loudest pipes and runs a generator 10 hours a day..........and they camp next to me.
They are so spazzy, that they do laps around their camp and dust us all out. I find this annoying.

Woahink is a very nice place! Stayed there many times.....sand access at he back of the property.

Last time I was there, stock exhaust was a must without exception! John WILL check you out, so don't try to fool him. My buddy was missing the cork from his YFZ450 and had to go beg one from the dealer. No motorcycles or sand rails were allowed either.
They had a nice game room, showers, laundry facilities, WiFi, and a single oversized firepit stocked with fire wood at the rear of the property.

RE: Cyclone and Road Warrior ?

With the info i can gather i dont think a Heartland product will work for us. We absolutely need the tanks, valves lines etc enclosed and heated as we are in temps in the teens at the races. 115 tank heaters wont cut it as i will not run a generator overnight.
I'm not trying to talk you into a Heartland product, but:
The only tanks/valves/lines not enclosed on our Cyclone is the fuel station stuff. We camp in single digit weather without issue with only the addition of a catalytic heater.

RE: Cyclone and Road Warrior ?

We have had more than a few irritating issues with our Cyclone, but Heartland has done everything possible to make it right.
I too will look at them again when it comes time for a new RV.
I saw some of the things that were said to lawnspecialties on the heartlandowners.org forum and it was a classic case of dropping the ball along with a few other circumstances.
This happened to us along the way too, but we were persistent and would not let anyone forget and put us off. Although I was pretty negative at times, none of my stuff was ever deleted to my knowledge.
I run a one man business and briefly forget things from time to time, but I always make it right. Things are different with a "one on one" customer relationship.

RE: How to quiet a generator

I understand your frustration. This is one of reasons I ordered without an onboard genny. A little bit of tinkering should get you dialed in though.
Solar and 4 6v batteries
How long will that run the AC?
My system will run an efficient 13.5K or smaller A/C while the sun is up without discharging the batteries, but to date, mine is the biggest system I have ever seen on an RV.
I have been thinking of installing a Coleman Polar Cub 9,200 BTU unit in the bedroom for use on those warm/humid nights camping on the road on the way to cooler country. They only draw 1000-1250W!:C

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

I built some carpeted shelves for the front compartment to cover exposed power terminals/cables. Storage in this model is at a premium, so you have to be organized! Are those 8D or 4D?

Yep, sit right on top. I have been putting stuff on top of them for the past year and a half with no indication of case deforming. Just now may something wont short the cables in transit?
The cases are pretty thick.

I like that one too, but it has even more water capacity with a lower CCC than the Elevation with more room to over load. lol

RE: Light weight toy haulers. ? are they doing?

I have scaled it many times, but not with tons of different combos.
I scaled it the day it was delivered and a few times while it was loaded with different toys on the way out. I just wanted to know that I wasn't over on any axles/tires. I have yet to disconnect and weigh the pin since mods were done. I will check the pin on the next weigh with the Maverick.
I don't notice any difference in the truck height or handling with or without a loaded garage.
After having SRW and now DRW trucks....I wouldn't want to pull that thing in my area with a 2500. Lots down South do it, but our roads in Northern CA aren't strait or flat.....
A few things I didn't see on the standards/option list were: Dual pane windows, Second Aux fuel station, 4 Door Refer, Central Vac, Rear power stabilizers, or any kind of insulation package.

RE: Light weight toy haulers. ? are they doing?

I don't consider 6K CCC not including options I would add and a 16' garage that can be filled with toys overkill. Could be OK for someone who camps in a park or runs the generator 6-10 hours daily while boondocking.
I added an estimated 5000# to my Cyclone by equipping it for boondocking duty and loading everything else conservatively. My wife and I went through every cabinet and ditched everything we could live without so we could haul the RZR instead of the two ATV's we started with. I put a toolboxes on the truck so more tools, oil, and recovery gear could be taken out of the trailer and redistributed to the rear truck axle/tires that weren't approaching max.
We have a Can Am Maverick on the way and it is even heavier than the RZR, so it will be interesting to see where that goes.....may have to add a third axle, as at last scale, we were right at 14K on the pair of axles.
Here is a list of the heavier stuff I can think of on board....
1000# Water
25# Catalytic heater
380# Fuel
600# Misc gear/clothes for 2 people 10 days out
175# Food/Beer/Soda/Drinking water
1450# Toys
400# Guns/Ammo/Ham radio equipment
150# Second spare tire w/hanger
25# Satellite Dish
450# Extra Batteries
220# Solar panels
150# Inverter/wiring/charge controller
75# Chairs/BBQ/Propane fire pit
10# Real fire extinguisher
60# Air compressor
I would max that ride out without any problem..........Especially since my Jeep would fit inside!:D
