RE: Picture From Last Saturday Night....

Here's a picture from our site last weekend.
(snip)
Does anyone else do something like this?
Yes, quite often, and it always seems that the little crowds that show up enjoy themselves. A lot of parents seem to be doing this for their kids and the other little ceumb snatchers in the CG, showing cartoons or Disney movies. Good for them. But next time, get a scren. The logo-in-the-picture is kind of tacky LOL.
Maybe some of the grouchy old folks that want to hate on NASCAR and other sports events, and want to control what others do, should try things like this.
And save sending me rules and regulations from a thousand different campground. They all read the same and I have been reading them for over twenty years. I don't think I can rmember when my RV neighbors did something that upset me so much that I had to whine about it to the world. All I can say is that if you don't like it, don't look.
Reading the rules for over 20 years is one thing. Understanding that your not above them is another......
How's that for understanding enough?
Honestly..not good. I was responding to your comment of reading rules for over 20 years, not what the crew in the photo may or may not be doing.
Really? That's all you got? Your best is not god enough! ROTFLMAO!

Interesting. Ok Sir, from looking at a picture, which rule was the guy with the picture projected on his rig violating? Too lloud? Na, no way to measure decibles. After hours noise violation? Can't tell, no clock. Poor dresser? Maybe, with the backwards hat thing going on. But poor dressinf is not a cmapground rule. Since you weren't there I guess you reallly don't understand what was going on there.
How's that for understanding enough?

RE: Stuck with Rude Neighbors Argh...

Can you define excessive and loud for campsites that are 15-20ft apart? When you book yourselves into a campground that have several families in a few hundred square feet of space, you cannot impose your expectations on everyone around you.
If you want to be in control and crave solitude, boondock somewhere. I don't blare my music, but I'll bet it could be heard by adjoining sites. I can hear their radio, TV, laughter, whatever. I THINK I have a realistic set of expectations though. Some people don't..........

RE: OBX if that is what it is called??

Will visit OBX this weekend. Staying at Camp Hatteras. You will enjoy it. You can see the sunrise over the ocean, and walk across the highway to the west side of thecampground and watch the sunset over the Sound. I just enjoy it for the beach and the laid back lifestyle found while "living on a sandbar"
Do catch the ferry boat over to Ocracoke Island. Have a nice lunch and people watch. I've climbed the lighthouse a couple of times so I will skip that, but it is worth the climb.

From what I recall they don't have too many trees and I'm sure it gets pretty warm.
They don't have any trees, LOL, but you can't beat the location for getting to the beach.

RE: campground near Manhattan NY?

There is a nightclub on site, and apparently it can get noisy on Saturday nights. Can't say we noticed any noise.
The old night club was pretty rowdy at closing time. I used to walk down to the end of the row and watch the "Walk of Shame" as the guidos and guidettes staggered out to their cars LOL. But it had a fire ans was closed for a year or two. The replacement place is pretty tame in relation.
Isn't that nightclub one or two blocks away?
Nope. It's just across the parking lot. It's part of the marina

RE: 10 Worst States for Retirement!

I'm from Maryland and I object to the ranking we got. We are a lot worse that that. Just having Eliajh Cummings for a Congressman should be worth a one spot drop. I'll have to write to our Governor "Little Marty O'Money"and tell him he needs to really increase our taxes.
Maryland's moto is "If you can dream it, we can tax it"

RE: RVing to New York City

Please tell me all there is to know? How far to PATH, security in parm, ferry to NYC, how to get around in NYC when one is limited on distances able to walk? Additional cost difficulty in dumping? Any guides to local restaurants, not the tourist traps? Tours, where to how much how ,long for stops?
How ,long did you stay and how ,long to see sights in NYC. Ellis Island? Battery Park etc.?
Thank you,
You may be underestimating the size of NYC. If you are limited on walking distances maybe NYC might not be for you. There is a lot of walking involved in getting to see the sights. But you can get around it.
You can cab it, but you need to know exactly where you want to go. I use the MTA subway to get around town. Again you need to know where you are going so that you take the right train.
See my post above about the water taxi. The PATH train station is about 5 blocks up Marin Blvd. There is a hack stand across the street from the west entrance to the station. but I don't know how late they stay there.
You might want to consider one of the hop-on hop-off bus tour packages like one of these Pricey, but it gets you to the sights without much walking or planning.
Allow yourself a day to go to the Statue of Liberty becasue you will want to tour the Elis Island museum on the same tour. Do the audio tours of both. You could skip Ellis Island and just go to the Statue, but why? Make it a lisurely day.
Marina security is 24/7 I have seen the guard making rounds during trhe night. I've never had a problem there.

RE: RVing to New York City

So if one stays at LH the best way to get into the city is to walk to the subway station? We don't toad so this sounds good. Is my thinking practical?
If you are there during the week, the NY Waterway Taxi dock is just about 100 yards across the parking lot from marina office. It departs about every 15 minuts and takes you ro Pier 11 in the Wall Street District on the East River.
The walk to the PATH train station is an easy one, but after shelping around NYC all day, it was nice to be dropped off almost at my motorhome.

RE: RVing to New York City

Liberty Harbor, located in Jersey City, NJ, is the spot you need. I stay there when I need to go to the city. The "campground" itself is basically a chunk of a hugh commuter parking lot that the owner fenced off and added some electrical and water connections. But it is all about location. Used to be surronded by industry and scrap yards but they have cleaned it all up in anticipation of building new high rises and office buildings. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l219/DMI331/IMG_3460.jpg There is a water taxi that leaves from the marina M-F starting at around 6 am and takes you on a 10 minutes cruise over to Pier 13(?) on the East River (foot of Wall Street), or you can walk up Marin Blvd and catch the PATH subway train at the Grove St station. It will take you either to 34th Street (an MTA hub) or to the World Trade Center
As you alreadt figured out, you won't get to much closer than 50-60 miles if you want a nice park. Croton Point or the KOA in Newburg, NY (sic) are your best choices. Stayed at Black Bear in Florida, NY once...would not return. There is a County park in Orange County called Winding Hills Park (Montgomery, NY)..clean, nicely wooded. but no hook ups. Don't know the size or type of your rig, but if you have a smaller rig and you don't mind boondocking, you might check it out.
