RE: New slant on Walmart camping.

I refuse to camp at Cracker Barrel. I'm Caucasian and I consider the name to be racist and offensive. :M
(:D)
This is exactly why I don't light fire crackers on the Fourth of July, or put oyster crackers in my Clam Chowder.
I think that they should change the name to "Saltine Barrel"
If you have to explain it........

RE: "LISENCE"

Heard a nasty rumor yesterday day, any MH. over 26,000 requires a
CLASS B lisence! News to me. I am here in TX. fixin to head east.
state licensing laws vary state to state but reciprocity rules. if you're properly licensed in texas to drive your MH that license will be accepted in the other 49-states and DC.
Ya beat me to it. :)

RE: Top tier gasoline.

I had a Ford F-150 pickup that I stopped driving and it sat 3 years without so much as a look from me. It had good old 87 octanne no name gas in it. I gave it to a budy, we put a fresh batery in it and it fired right up. I think that there is to much worry about "shelf life" of gasoline.

RE: Are CB radios still used?

The thing about cells have about squashed CB's........you don't get weather reports on your phone for the area your in!
Not only can I get weather on my phone, I can get live radar images on my phone of exactly what the weather is doing. If weather is your main concern than the phone is way better than a CB.
You can have all the techno-cool stuff that you want, but there is no substitute for boots on the ground feeding you real time accurate intel.

RE: ???? For open frame Generator users.

I really don't want to start a lot of anti open frame generator replies.
Just a question. If using a 3000 watt open frame generator and it is placed about 10 feet from the rear of your Landmark 5th Wheel, and your doors and windows are closed, can you hear the generator running while inside your 5th Wheel?
How good are your ears? It doesn't matter if you can hear it. What matters is if your neighbor can hear it.
On edit - After reading your subsequent post on the topic, I see what you did. You disguised a generator rant as a request for information. Good night

RE: "LISENCE"

It's no rumor. This is nothing new. Licencing requirements are a states rights issue. You need to check with the motor vehicle administration for your state. The majority of states do require that you obtain a non-CDL Class B (or equivilant) licence for vehicles over 26,001 pounds. In addition, if your rig has air brakes, you will probably need to get an air brake endorsement.
If I were you, I would go online, or visit the Texas MVA , and check requirements. That's the only way you will get the correct answer.

RE: RV Parks w/older RV restrictions

No Shoes, No Shirt, Over Ten Years Old, No Service.
As long as they apply the rule equally, a business owner has the right to reuse service to anyone.
What's not to understand?

RE: Eastern Shore Camping

Camp Hatteras RV Resort in Rodante, NC, is on the narrowest part of the Outer Banks. One side of the CG is on the ocean, the other side is on the Pamlico sound. You can watch a Surise and a Sunset over the water from the same spot.
While its not the honky-tonk, night life, board walk place like Mytrle Beach, it does have some interesting thing to do and see.

RE: Decent RV Park near NYC?

You don't want to drive into NYC. It's costly, and not a place for pilgrims. You need to stay on the Jersey side and take mass transit.
Liberty Harbor is best bet. Geting there is not a problem, traffic wise. You have your choice of the PATH train (about 5 blocks up Mairn Blvd.), or during the week you can hop on the communter ferry that docks right across the parking lot from your RV.

RE: Q for battery gurus

Don't see a hydrometer could go bad, but they are cheap enough. At least cheaper then a new batery. Pick one up at your local auto parts store and put your mind at ease.

RE: Q for battery gurus

What's SG?
S.G. is shorthand for specific gravity. Specific gravity is the dimensionless ratio of the density of a substance compared to the density (mass of the same unit volume) of a reference substance. In the case of batteries. it is the ratio of the density of the liquid in the battery over the density of distilled water measured at 39 F.

RE: Burning RV's

It's funny how someone posting videos of RV's on fire gets so many people thinking that RVs are fire traps. How come no one posts videos of RV's that are not burning? Because there would be millions of them. Yhe amount of RV fires vs. RVs on the road is statistically insignificant.

RE: bearing buddies

People that have them swear by them. I can see the usefullness on trailers with really small wheels or boat trailers where the hub gets submerged. But in reality, there are thousands of trailers that don't have them. And cars put way more miles on their bearings without getting repacked or having bearing failure.
But, hey, they are inexpensive enough. Get a set and put your mind at ease. Just be careful not to overpack the hubs and pop the grease seal.
