RE: Pet in campgrounds

Our dogs didn't bark when left alone and we used to leave the curtains open. But we came home one day and found two little brats banging on the windshield with a stick trying to get my dog stirred up. I wanted to let the dogs out to see if I culd coax rhem to bit the little bastids, but the DW stopped me.
After that we closed the curtains. Dogs had to suffer becasue of someone's uncontrolled little beasts.

RE: Sanitizing water system

The Army gave us Halizone tabs for our canteens back in the late sixties. It made the water undrinkable. We used to get our loved ones to send us packets of Kool-Aid to kill the taste. Kool-Aid was king for trading.

This article gives you the proper proceedure for sanitzing you water system using bleach anf speaks about using sodium dichlor in lieu of bleach.

RE: Another closed topic

The ironic thing is that DickA hasn't closed a thread about him closing threads to fast.
I don't see what the squawk is. He used to be lightning fast on closing threads. Now he lets Walmart threads run on for 10+ pages. He's getting slow in his old age.

RE: RV rip off at homested speedway

They want and get $2500 for a spot on Lake Loyd at the Daytona 500 and they sell them out every year. I know because I have been trying for several years.

RE: basement air conditioning

I have heard and I think proved myself that when the temp drops below 38 F, the smart system will switch over from heat pump to propane. I believe this has happened to us twice, but we usually try to not get in areas that cold. Is this correct?
That is correct. The heat pump will come on once and when it senses the low temp, it swithces over to gas operation. It will also switch over to gas if the ambiant temp is more then 5 degrees below the setpoint on your thermostat. Once the temprises and the thermostat is staisfied, if will switch back to heat pump mode to maintain the temp.

RE: Harpers Ferry/Manassas/Gettysburg

Crowe,
There is no CGs arounf Fredrick.
Since you mentioned going next year, you might want to think about attendting the Gettysburg Battle Re-enactment. We went there a couple of years ago and it was pretty interesting.

RE: Harper's Ferry KOA

Stayed ther before. Like downtheroad said, its a place ot park to tour Harpers Ferry. We liked it because it was close to home and we could go there on Friday night after work, but its typical KOA. Its got a big pool, they had entertainment, and we liked waliking around Harpers Ferry. Every once in a whilw we would drive into Charlestown and go paly the slots.

RE: Brand/Model Proliferation

Could it be that they bought up smaller companies and want to keep the customers that are loyal to the brand?
For every critic there is a crtic of a critic. GM's polices of having to many brands is the fact that they had to many plants with to many union employees building basically the same car. At one time Oldsmoblile was differenct from Pontiac, was differnt from Chevy, At the end it was all samey-same. Too bad too, it was nice to have selection.

I don't know if it will disinfect, but since it will take the skin off, I guess you wouldn't need to worry about germs on your hands.

RE: For those that use FHU's

Full strength Hydrogen peroxide is about $60.00 for 500 ml. Pretty pricy and pretty dangerous to use for disenfecting a hose bib.
Or are you talking about the 3% stuff you buy in the drug store?
I don't think any one here would use the $60.00 gallon stuff to spray with. the 3% works quit well. When you can buy it of $.50 8 o/z.
That was my point. I was gently trying to reguide those that don't kow what they were talking about. People believe that something is "full strengh" when it is just weak dilution. And they pass this information along to people that take what ever these nitwits say as Gospel.
If they don't even know what chemical they are fooling with, perhaps they shouldn't be using it. To many garage scientists hurt themselves by not knowing what they are doing. As in "Hey Bobby, why use this 3% junk? I got some 35% that will be killer on them little bugs"
I have worked with HazMAt chemical; incidents for over 30 years and you wouldn't believe the dumbass stuff people do.

RE: Carved Wood Name Signs

Do not put your names on the sign. A criminal can come to your RV, knock on the door calling your name. Of course you open the door, thinking it someone you know, and you have just given the criminal access to the insode of your RV and YOU!
Or they can come to your RV, knock on the dooe and NOT call your name and you will still open the door. :R

RE: Walmart Overnight Parking

News flash..
All of you people that are all torqued up about people that overnght (or camp, or squat, or whatever you wnat to call it), get over it. You can't stop it.
One of the characteristics of people like us, that do what we do, is their free spirit and their desire to find places to stay that others don't. As soon as someone creates a rule to stiffle that wunderlust, someone else will figure out a way around it.
And how come nobody mentions people that camp at K-Mart, Cracker Barrel, hospital parking lots, or pretty much any other flat paved surface it any town? I think you are suffering from Walmart Degrangment Syndrome.
If you don't like it son't do it. Why are there little groups of people that sit around, wringing their hands, worrying about what others do, and hatching pitiful little schemes to stop it - all in the name of saving sonething?
