RE: There Used To Be A Lot More Activity On The TC Forum??

I’ve notice it has quieted down as well I have also cut back on how many times I look at the site and how many times I post. -Some has to do with the site, It’s a little dated compare to more popular forms, it has no app, so I can’t view and post from my iPhone like I do with the other forms I’m interested in . -Some has to do with all the rules imposed, I know there has to be some order and rules, but you can’t even have a decent informative fact finding argument with other members(those who want to converse)…sometimes the bickering can lead to the facts and help others…it’s also entertaining sitting back watching when it does slip by the mods. Back to my first reason….the site has turned boring, it needs an update…needs to be more interactive, I use to look at the site 5+ times a day to learn, meet people, look at all the pics people post and sometimes maybe help a little…. I have enjoyed everything learned on here and every conversation I’ve had (good and bad). I’m in the middle of some pretty cool mods to my truck, I will share soon. Here’s a sneak peak (now I,m gona get 12+ emails from the controllers of the site, not the mods, the controllers….you hi jacked the post wa wa wa) lol http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/truck.jpg Have fun and hope everyone has a good new year Dave

RE: Slideout models, bath use when traveling

It all depends on your situation We have the lance 1131 same as the 1191 floor plan and yes we can access the bathroom with the slide in, and it’s come in handy. I find it and inconvenience to put the slide out for a couple minutes, but just and inconvenience, nothing else. We also can access everything else, the fridge, stove, pantry and microwave. One trip to the Yukon we hit road construction and were waiting for the pilot car up to 15 min. We were starving and luckily we had pizza subs in the fridge. I hopped out of the truck and into the camper, fired up the gen, took the subs out of the fridge, put in microwave, cooked for 4 minutes, headed back to the truck with nice warm pizza subs and my wife and I sat and had our lunch while waiting for the pilot car, all this with the slide in You’re on the highway and want a pop, coffee, snacks from the pantry or a quick hot meal it can all be done with the slide in. Hit the next roadside turn-out grab what you want out of the camper and back on the road in no time Have fun Dave

RE: Jasper National Park

Jasper in the fall is great, was just there last weekend. Stay at Whistlers Campground; use it as the home base Get power with fire pit…the six stall dump station is free. Here is the Jasper trail map Go back to Lake Edith and Lake Annette, the walking trail around Annette is a nice one. Also the beach at Annette is a nice one, laying back on the sandy beach as an elk walks by is a really neat feeling. I was just diving at Edith The Deep The trail around Lac Beauvert is a real nice walk, great views and wildlife it also takes you right in front of the Jasper Park lodge. Go back to Patricia lake awesome scenery and nice walks. If it is open go up to Mt. Edith Cavell amazing place, great drive up the mountain and you will be happy you went. I won’t share a picture you need to see it for yourself. -Athabasca falls -Maligne Lake -Maligne Canyon -Valley of the five lakes -horseshoe lake (cliff divers) On the drive up to Maligne Lake Last weekend we saw elk, a grizzly mom and 2 cubs, brown bear, a black wolf and a bald eagle feeding on a rabbit. I was in my glory. Here is a video from last weekend that my friend took, most of it was taking in the Campground Dons Elk One word of advice make Jasper as a 3+ day adventure, we always make it 3 days, you get there set up and then have 2 good days to tour around. I was in Jasper camping 5 times this year and always find something new to do each visit. Last weekend in Whistler Campground right beside our site http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC02340.jpg Our friends trailer. They were inside sleeping http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC02339.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC02338.jpg This young lady hung out at our site all afternoon. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC02342.jpg you need any other info just ask Have fun and we'll probably see you there Dave the guy with the bloodhound http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC02089.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii182/Dave1131/DSC02180.jpg

RE: Rancho Shock Settings

When empty on my 2012 gmc 3500 Front/back on 1 or 2. Air bags at 5 psi. Drives really smooth and handles great. When loaded with the estimated 4500 pound camper and small utility trailer -air bags @ 70 or 80 psi -front shock on 4 or 5 -rear shocks on 7 or 8 It drives and handles like a dream. One piece of advice, get the wireless remote. Have it and love it, the ability to change settings while driving for different road conditions is a big plus. Have fun Dave

Only diesel I could find.in Jasper was at east end petro. 106.9/L X2 and that station also has a fast fill pump for diesel fill your tank in half the time. It is also the only station that has propane in Jasper last weekend Diesel was 109.9 Have fun Dave

RE: Need some discussion

2013/2014 new gen rules coming to some areas when they come in effect in Alberta -During a fire ban, number one obviously no fires, also no ridding quads and no running gens in heavy grass and wooded areas. -provincial parks, gen use from 8:30 am to 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to 7 pm, gens not built into the rv have to be on your campsite pad and in your view at all times when running. -backwoods(boondockers) users of gens must have an approved fire extinguisher and have their gens by their units and in eyesight at all times. -any damages or complaints associated with gen use is the gen owner/owners or site renter/renters responsibility and they will be responsible for all costs. there was allot more being talked about and tossed around but it got so stale I left the meeting. When I went to this open house meeting on these issues and others. I listened to the politicians try and come up with fair and equal rules for everyone(ya right), at this meeting back in the spring there was politicians from the B.C, N.W.T and Yukon Territory governments sitting in taking notes. B.C might consider emissions testing of gens and stricter emission standards on gens sold in that province. Last year in Alberta 2 forest fires started by sparks from generators, one user is on the hook for over $850.000 in damages and cost associated with fighting the fire. There is also a pending lawsuit over generators and the disturbances they cause to others, at last count i heard there was 109 people involved in the class action. Did not want to start a gen war, but the bad gen users ruin it for the responsible gen users look into a good solar system and inverter....solar was and is still the best investment I ever made. Have fun Dave

RE: gas versus diesel for TCs

Dave1131, what is the cost comparison between regular and diesel in Canada? Did both trucks have the same gearing? Also, do you have any trips without the utility trailer to compare? $1.13 a liter Gas $1.01 a liter Diesel long weekends over, so Gas has now dropped to 108.9 a liter and Diesel down to 98.9 a liter Same gearing No trips without the utility trailer with the new truck to compare too Have fun Dave
