RE: Hill AFB, Ogden UT to Colter Bay, Grand Tetons NP

We are going the other way in July. Tetons then down 189 89 to Bear Lake for a few days then to Logan to Hill. Had done that years ago. Scenic route. If you haven't been to Bear Lake it is an interesting stop.

RE: California Road Trip

We have taken the coast road (hwy 1) from Carmel to Morro Bay several times. It is slow but scenic and with a 34ft should not be a problem. In any event I would not go all the way over to I-5. If you don't want to take 1 take 101. When you get to Oxnard you can join up with hwy 1 again then I-10 in Santa Monica and then on to 405 to Anaheim. Scenic along the coast through Malibu area.

RE: Inside step cover

That happened to me. Found there was a nut that held female thread bracket in place on cover that worked loose and the bracket was able to spin freely. I threaded the bracket back to the end of the threaded rod then refastened it to the step cover and tightened the retaining nut. (Not the clearest of explanations but if you pull out the cover, lift it you will see the parts I mentioned)

RE: Quartzsite -- overnight in June?

We have stopped there in spring/summer overnight with no problems. Dome Rock Road has plenty of parking spaces right off the dome rock road. Exit 19 then 95 north a few miles has more parking.

RE: 2001 National Tropical????

We had a 2001 Dolphin on Ford chassis which is same as 2001 Tropical except for some accessory coach items. It was a great coach. We traded it in after over 80,000 miles for a diesel. Stable driving in strong winds. comfortable to drive and live in. Came with 500 watt inverter. I added 2000 watt inverter, two more 6v batteries and solar panels but was good coach without the extras, just more convenient for me.

RE: Having trouble finding 6volt house battery

Call the equipment shop at your local golf course. They will tell you where they get theirs (and they may even sell you one or two).

probability of getting a site at Buffalo Bill State park WY

We will be traveling through Cody end of June to Yellowstone. Buffalo Bill State Park looks interesting but most of sites are first come first served. Does anyone have a feel for the ability to get a site for 2 nights that time of year? We will only be driving about 100 miles that day so will arrive probably around lunch time.

RE: Power to toad

take a voltmeter to the connector plug on the rear of the motorhome. turn on the motorhome key. Determine which pin carries the 12volt. plug in the umbilical cord and determine which pin on the other end carries the 12volt. attach a #12 or #10 stranded wire to that pin and pull it to the battery. At the end of the wire crimp an in line fuse holder and use a 20 amp fuse to protect in case of short. Attach the other end of the fuse holder to the positive terminal of the battery. You can do the whole job in about a half hour. I would use a small wire loom on the wire to protect it from chafing.

RE: Baloon Fest in Albuquerque recommendations

We have stayed three times at the VIP south at the south end of the balloon field. it is dry camp but you are right there and included entry passes for the duration. A few short steps from the coach to the balloons. When they launch they go right over the coach. use the generator and go with empty holding tanks and full water. If you need water and dump they have mobile service that comes to you. You can book it from the Balloon fiesta web site.

RE: First time dry camping

I wouldn't dry camp that long without a generator. Fridge, lights, alarms, furnace fans, vent fans, etc all drain down batteries. There are generally other parasitic loads that drain also. Friends with 5ers have Honda gens which are quiet and efficient. As said above, Harbor Freight has less expensive ones but they are noisier.

I have been up and down that route several times 34' class A towing CRV and 35' class A towing CRV. A few tight curves but nothing to give concern.

I was recommended to take the west exit out of Zion then 15 to 20 to 89 to Bryce. Was told easiest route with motorhome. You would be going the opposite direction.

My insurance company uses Safelite glass repair and they come to where the vehicle is. They replaced windshield in my previous Honda and did a good job.

RE: Honda CRV baseplate concerns

You have to remove a fair amount of trim to mount the baseplate. Unless you are mechanically handy I would recommend an installer. I have Blue Ox and works fine. had their dealer (cargo trailer repair and sale company). I also used Blue Ox light kit which does not connect to existing car lighting.
