RE: Below freezing for 5 hours

When the temperature goes below freezing, we let the faucet in the kitchen run very slowly throughout the night. Running water prevents the pipes from freezing. It only needs to run a little bit. But remember to open the gray tank! Another option is to disconnect your water hose and then reconnect it in the morning. The problem with pipes bursting seems to be the outside connection/pipes.

RE: RV storage in Blaine,MN/Northmetro

Freeway Storage just south of Forest Lake on I-35. I used Freeway Storage for about 8 years up until last May when we started full timing. Secure, fenced, cameras, gated. You get your pick of any available spot so drive around the facility and choose which lot appeals to you. If you decide to take your unit out during the winter, call them and they will make sure everything is plowed for you.

RE: What is the best GPS for Full timing

We started full timing 11 months ago. We bought the Garmin nuvi 2455. We also bought the option to add updated maps online once a year. We use it a lot!

Debit or Credit Card?

Which is better? I use my Wells Fargo debit card when I fill up with gas or grocery shopping. The pump asks for "debit or credit" and I always choose credit. In grocery stores, I choose "credit". But I am using my Wells Fargo debit card so the money is taken out immediately at the gas pump or grocery store. I use my Master Card (credit) for things like tours or shopping. A personal banker at Wells Fargo told me that I should be signing up for the Visa credit card at Wells Fargo and using that credit card and not the debit card. The reason is that I would be getting some 'rewards' by using the Visa card. That got me to thinking... should I even be using my Wells Fargo debit card for gas and groceries? *PLEASE EDUCATE ME.* Thanks, Carolyn

RE: Roof repair question

We have a 27' and we just finished caulking around everything on the roof. It took 2 tubes of the self-leveling caulk. All we needed to do was to fill in the cracks that were forming in the old caulk.

RE: Lost TV channels

it could be that the primary transmitters for those two channels are down for maintenance and they're using backup transmitters which may be located elsewhere and/or have a lower output power. try calling the stations involved and see what's going on. you could also check with some of your neighbors and see if they're experiencing the same thing. if they are the issue is not on your end. It appears that this might be the case. WE JUST CHECKED WITH OUR NEIGHBORS AND FOUND THAT THEY ALSO LOST THE CHANNELS. Now if we had done that to begin with, we would have saved ourselves a lot of time looking for the problem. We even climbed on the roof and checked the connections! THANK YOU, EVERYONE, for your advice! Problem solved.

RE: Lost TV channels

This is the original poster... another question. Is the antenna grounded? There are grounding wires attached to the frame next to the mud flap that I just replaced. Could the lack of reception have anything to do with grounding wires? Thanks.

Lost TV channels

We have been in the Phoenix area for the past 7 months. Yesterday we lost transmission to two TV channels - 3.1 and 5.1. We have had excellent transmission for all of these months. Actually, we receive MANY channels although several are in Spanish. We replaced the batteries in the remote. We ran the 'scan for channels' twice, but we are still not able to get these two major stations: the one with Dr. Oz and the other one is CBS. We are using the antenna on our 5th wheel and it has worked well for all these months. We have been getting the 5th wheel ready for traveling; we washed and waxed the RV including washing the roof and coating with it 303. We also renewed the caulking on the roof. We replaced the two mud flaps because we lost one in a blowout last summer. Any ideas on what happened or what we should do to pick up reception to these channels?

RE: Campgrounds near Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN

Yes, we did ask for the weekly, monthly rate for NW KOA and that is their monthly rate plus two weeks with KOA 10% discount. The tax is included in that amount but there would be electric added for the month amount which they estimate to be around $60 - 100.

RE: Campgrounds near Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN

Thanks for your responses. We want to visit relatives both south and north of Minneapolis. We stayed in St. Paul East last year and we agree with the poster who said to 'avoid'. We just checked with NW KOA and they seemed expensive; it would cost us around $1200 to stay there for 6 weeks. Ouch. Are there any others north of town? We will look at the ones you suggested which are south of town. Thanks!!!!
