RE: Suspension advice

I changed out my oem shocks for the Rancho manual adjustable shocks. The only mod I've done that actually improved my ride over the oem setup.

RE: Bump Stops

... I have added Firestone Airbags and have a problem with sway with the camper loaded. The airbags don't help with the swaying but they do make a softer ride when pumped up to 90#!!
The problem is the air bags. I have the same truck and camper combo.

RE: Blown tire question

Gee,
I lost a rear dual last week. The set I have has 75K on them, so they are about 50% worn. I ended up buying two new tires and putting them on the front axle. I thought it best to keep the tires the same diameter at least on each axle.

RE: 1999 Arctic Fox 1150

Since you never had a TC, I'd add that your 3500 needs to be a dually if you're considering the AF 1150.

RE: Michelin XPS Traction failure

I had my 6 XPS's installed by Costco in 6/03, so I'm out the luck on their 5 yr road hazard warranty :M I have about 75K on them now. I think riding with the tire at zero psi really caused the problem. Even though it did not take any load, I think constantly spinning a tire at 60+ mph empty could have damaged the sidewall belts ?

Michelin XPS Traction failure

I found I had a flat on the rear inside dual, probably flat for some time as I rarely check. Could not notice visually, and unloaded ride was normal. I put 60 psi in it and noticed some sidewall expansion issue, so I knew it was shot. I left it in my bed under the tonneau cover and it blew today. I'm glad I was not around when it did as it really damaged my tonneau, it's heavy aluminum frame, and two clamps. I'm also glad I was not hauling the TC with the tire on the front axle. I don't think I would ever air these commercial tires down for the beach.

RE: Why do Arctic Fox TCs weigh so much?

Arctic Fox campers can have problems, but there's no longer a problem with the tie downs. The posted pics are from the older wood framed units. Tie downs are now bolted through the frame.

RE: TV replacement

Clay,
Yes, it does extend out over the bed while traveling in the stowed position. And yes, it does swing out for good viewing from the dinette area. It have it on a three section articulating mount, which is installed outside of the TV cabinet, not inside as I think you are suggesting? I'll see what I can do about posting a pic.
PS- I have seen somewhere a mount on a track that pulls out of the cabinet, but that was probably back when the 15" LCD's were popular.

RE: TV replacement

I did away with the slide out tray as well, I mounted a 24" Visio on a swing arm on the front side of the same cabover cabinet, and remounted the door hinges to open like the normal cabinets. Size is good in an AF990. Be sure to get one of the new energy star models.

RE: F350 Crew Cab Long Bed V10

If you want to wait, the 2011 Super Duty's get either the all new V8 6.2 gas or the all new V8 6.7 diesel I'm thinking of going with a gasser next time around.

RE: OUCH! Ford/GM/Dodge sales

I don't think GM has solved their issues that contributed to their demise. They were rewarded for their failures at my expense. I don't think Dodge is even a player anymore. For the first time in my 40+ years, I am only considering a Ford for my next purchase.

RE: happijac versus torklift versus other?

I've been using the same old set of HappiJac's for the past 12 years on my Dodge with a former large Lance and my current heavy AF. No problems to report. I'll use HJ's on my next truck.

RE: 2010 Dodge

Anyone know if they are increasing the HP/TQ on the Cummins? I hear the new Ford Scorpion diesel is expected at 400HP/650TQ.
