RE: Billings MT to Coeur d'Alene ID

If you want a change of scenery and avoid some 'hills,' go north from the Missoula area and drive the Clark Fork River valley to Sand Point, ID and then south to Coeur d' Alene.

RE: Newbie and bearings

Any big truck repair shop can handle this job. It is a routine repair, the grease seals Freightliner uses are readily available. Brake lining oil contamination may present a problem - easy fix, just more $$$.

RE: Oil capacity on 2002 Winnebago journey

As stated, Cummins used several different size oil pans in their motor home applications. If you can't get an answer from Cummins, can you measure how much you drain out when you change oil and use that as a starting point, then just add a quart at a time till you reach the full mark. My 5.9 (ISB-02) takes 15 quarts which includes the oil in the filter.

RE: need air bag help

Who made the chassis for your MH. The suspension and air bags were supplied by the chassis manufacturer, determine the chassis make and model and search using that information.

RE: Through Baltimore

My favorite route is the same that Busskipper recommends. Good road, less traffic and no tolls.

RE: replacement converter for parallax 7300

I replaced a Parallex 7455T with a progressive Dynamics 9260 with Charge Wizard and pendant. The Parallex unit does not step down to a trickle charge and tends to boil the batteries. The replacement action was straight forward, no problems at all.

RE: Clovis NM to Mesa Arizona

Hwy 60 is kind of narrow on the east end of your trip but opens up/widens before you start down the grade towards I-25. From then on, very good two lane road. A lot of 18 wheelers use that route as a shortcut. We did it from the Show Low, AZ area to the Clovis area two years ago with our toad. No scary grades to be concerned about. I'd recommend topping off your fuel while you are on the short I-25 portion of the trip. Stop in Pie Town for coffee and a piece of pie.

RE: Another tire question!!! Michelin 255/80R/22.5

If you get new tires, put them on the front (steer axle) and move the fronts to the drive side you took off, that way your drive tires will be equal - at least by age and be very close in overall wear (many times steer tires wear at a different rate than the drive tires). Don't mix tire sizes on the drive axle.

RE: Best way to keep Mice out of the coach?

Just last week I found this at a local store and it comes highly recommended. Fresh Cab
Anybody else use this?
The hardware store I checked with for Fresh Cab told me that stuff becomes a food product for the mice after about a month when the deterrent stuff completely evaporates. Their word, I have no information to confirm or deny it. I found a product called Critter Out based on the suggestion of another RV'er. It supposedly has the same deterrent as Fresh Cab but it comes as a liquid and is applied by spraying. I spray in and around/under the coach every few weeks.

RE: Broken door latch. Now the door won't open.

Go on IRV2.com and do a search. There was a good post several months back with pictures of what to do, where to drill from the outside and do minimal damage to the door and the coach. After the lock was repaired, the drill hole was "repaired" simply by using a black rubber plug in the hole.

RE: Batteries

If they will not hold a charge after you recharge them, have them replaced under warranty. Check your new owners paperwork on the batteries.

RE: Mice in Motorhome

Another effective but inexpensive mixture to feed the critters is oatmeal and ethanol glycol (old fashioned antifreeze). Make sure your pets can not get to it and hope the critters go somewhere outside to pass on.

RE: Mice in Motorhome

Do not leave any food or food residue anywhere in the coach. Remember to clean the crumbs from your toaster. No food, nothing to attract the critters. Then, moth balls, Critter-Out, other repelants or traps.

RE: Fresh Cab for eliminating mice...

The one negative I've heard about 'Fresh Cab' is that after a period of time when the anti critter stuff wears off, it becomes an attractive food for the rodents. That led me to research and pick up some "Critter-Out" spray which seems to use the same basic repellant, except in a spray form rather than a bagged pellet form.

RE: Flying J Pump Start Card

Maybe your problem is that on the J web site there are no listings for a station at that location???? I dont remember seeing one in Twin Falls???? I do remember a large truck stop called something like Dad's? Right off the freeway.
Moisheh
The Twin Falls Flying J is at exit 173 on I-84. It is listed in the FJ directory as Jerome.
At the truck pumps, if you swipe your FJ or Pilot card only, the pump is supposed to allow you to fill the tank without stopping at a pre set dollar amount. You must go inside to complete the payment transaction after fueling. You are supposed to get your full discount on the cash price also. I have had it work that way for me, Evanston, WY truck pumps was the last place I did that.

RE: Rte 2 Kalispell MT to Bonners Ferry ID

It is a nice easy drive along the Clark Fork River plus you do not have the mountains to climb in western MT and in ID on I-90.

RE: RVparkreviews and Rosemount Campground, Tamaqua,Pa

Stayed there one time. It is an older campground, narror interior roads, somewhat congested depending on the site you get. We found Laurel Lake Campground just west of Andreas (Rt 309 south of Tamaqua) west on Rt 895 more to our liking. We had full hookups in the main RV area, not their overflow area which is in a field.

RE: Tire replacment cross reference ???

FYI: Tire Size, Diameter, Cross Section, Rev per Mile (Source - Michelin and Goodyear Sites - may differ slightly on other brands or type tire.)
255/80, 38.2 in dia. 9.9 in X section. 541 rev/mile
275/70, 37.6 in dia. 10.4 in X section. 548 rev/mile
265/75, 38.5 in dia. 10.1 in X Section. 537 rev/mile
275/80, 40.1 in dia. 10.9 in X Section. 518 rev/mile
Make sure you have a wheel to handle the tire you select, 8.25 x 22.5 preferred for tires with a wider cross section.

RE: Tire replacment cross reference ???

Michelin has a lock on the use of the 255/80/22.5 tire size. Look at the 265/75/22.5 from other manufacturers. It is the closest to the dimensions, rev per mile, etc to the 255 that I have found. Effect on the speedometer/odometer will be minimal.

RE: norcold works on gas but not AC

Is your battery charger/converter working. We had a similar experience and the Parallax 7455 Charger/Converter had failed. I'm not an electrician, but it had to be working correctly for the refrigerator to work on A/C.
