RE: Protection from mud daubers in fridge?

Every spring I get a large dog flea collar and cut it into two pieces and place one in the fridge compartment and the other half in the water heater area.

RE: Bass Pro Shop..

Whenever we are in the Springfield area we always stay at the Stage Stop RV park in Ozark. It is a gravel parking lot with full hookups and a self service check-in at $20/night. It is directly behind the Lambert's throwed rolls restaurant, south on US-65.

RE: latitude and longitude finder

when using any GPS POI location finder, the lat and long is often not exactly correct. When planning our trips I use Google Earth to get an exact position for our destinations and then put that into the GPS for a destination.

RE: RV Antenna Pointing Questions

Giving internet site while very useful does not help the "clueless". If they have not found many TV stations, they most likely are not on the internet either.
The question was posed on this web site and the last time I looked it happens to be on the internet.

RE: RV Antenna Pointing Questions

The front is to the side opposite the mounting to the crank-up arm.
I use this website http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/maps/ to find the good directions. Just enter a zip code or city name and it will show you the channels available and when you click on those channels it draws a line to show you the direction to point. Zoom in the map and put it into satellite mode and you can drag the index to your exact location.

RE: One license plate!! (long rant!)

Maybe next time plates are due just lower it to 11000#,or 9999# as FL does.
Our trucks must be licensed for the total weight of truck plus whatever we are hauling and/or pulling with that truck when moving down the road. While RVs are not commercial we don't have to stop at weight scales but If I were stopped for any other reason and the LEO was sharp and caught my license at only 6,000 lbs I would just sit there until he called in the portable scales and I would be a heap of trouble.
I am licensed for 24,000 lbs and have just one plate on the front just like the OP. I have pulled a 5th wheel for the past 13 years over all 48 lower states and 9 provinces of Canada for over 130,000 miles. I have only been stopped for no rear plate once and that was in Saskatoon. The nice young officer heard my description of Missouri rules, read my front plate, and went back to his car. After I am sure a call to his office he came back to tell me to have a nice day.

RE: Over all length?

Looking at the specs for the Coachman 278 RKS it says the overall length is 29' 11" which verifies the basic 30' length you note in your post. From the picture it appears that the kingpin is right at the front edge of the overhang so I would say if you measure your truck from the center of your rear axle (where your 5th hitch will be located) to the front bumper and add that to 30' you will be darned close to your new overall length.

RE: Do you know your trailers height?

If you ever cross over into our great neighbor of Canada you also need to know your height in meters. On our first crossing we weren't three city blocks away from the entrance when we turned a corner and right in front of us was a railroad underpass that was posted at 4 meters height. A quick calculation from memory that a meter was around 39 inches told me that 4 meters was equal to 12 feet plus 12 inches so we sailed right on through.

RE: Satelite TV for Fver

I agree that with Dish Network the Tailgater is the way to go but it only works with the VIP-211K receiver. It connects to three sats 110, 119, & 129 for full HD programming. When changing channels it does take a few seconds to change between the sats as it only looks at one at a time.

Thank you enblethen, that is the answer I was looking for.
By the way we spent a week in Moses Lake last year because of truck trouble and had good help from the local Ford dealership.

RE: 30 amp connection at home

Do not drive a separate gnd. rod outside. If the resistance to gnd. is different than the supplied ground at the house- that's where any fault will end up (house or rv).
That's a legitimate response. All of our trailers in the past years have been 50 amp and we have determined that 30 amp is all we need at our trailer pad. As a professional engineer there is no way that I will do anything without checking local codes and requirements.
My question was simply, will it work?

30 amp connection at home

I am getting ready to install a 30 amp outlet in our back yard for our trailer. I have checked a voltage drop calculator and know that 8ga copper will be okay for my 150 foot run and still be within reasonable usage limits.
My question is, can I run only the (2) hot and neutral wires and then sink a copper ground rod at the site for the ground connection?

RE: Guitars

My Gretch solid body electric and my prize Martin stay at home but I do carry a Yamaha acoustic guitar and a mandolin with me on our travels. Just earlier this year I picked up the mandolin as it is smaller and easier to sit anywhere and play some tunes. So far we have not found any jam sessions in a campground so mine have been only for my enjoyment.

RE: RV Plus Card

I have used the card since it became available and enjoy the fact that it doesn't cause the pump to shut off at a certain dollar value. With our 50 gallon tank that is important. Also with the 8 cents off from the cash price for Diesel that really helps.
