RE: Roadside Assistance - Tires

Thank you for your post, supercub. Good Sam Roadside Assistance always puts the safety of our members first. With that in mind, and to xctraveler's point above, we generally do not recommend repairing a flat tire. However, we will absolutely change a flat tire with your inflated spare. If you do not have an inflated spare, you can purchase a new tire through our tire program. Please see our member benefit brochures at: https://www.goodsamroadside.com/mbbs/ for more information. Regards, Austin

RE: A DEFINITIVE answer Please Alaska Route 11

Thank you for the post 4X4Dodger. You would be eligible for service in Alaska on Highway 11 or the Dalton Highway as long as it meets the benefit brochure description as one of the following: hardpacked or graded dirt public road, paved street, driveway, parking lot, highway, freeway, expressway or adjacent shoulder. This coverage includes tire services and towing. If there are months or times when the roadway does not meet these criteria's or travels over frozen water you may not be eligible for service. Members would still contact dispatch if they have cell service. Many travelers to remote locations like this choose to carry a satellite phone to ensure they have connectivity to emergency services or would need to relay a message through a passerby or police/state patrol. Also keep in mind that there are only 3 towns on the route so the timeframe to receive service may be extended. As with all remote disablements service times will depend on the distance they have to travel to your breakdown location. Thank you, Zach

RE: Tire Mounting Clarification

Thank you for the post wbwood. The price of mounting for a tire swap or tire purchase on the side of the road can fluctuate depending on industry pricing. Independently some providers charge a set rate and some change by the hour with a two hour minimum which could be between $100-$175 per hour or more depending on the time of day, location, season, etc. Good Sam covers bringing the shop roadside and the member is responsible for the parts and labor while the shop/provider is there. RE: Poor Service

Update: Spoke with Mr. Hunter. This situation has been resolved to my satisfaction. My truck is now at a facility that can actually make the repairs and under the warranty, rather than at a "Wally & Goobers U-Pump-It". Thank you Mr. Hunter. Good morning Mr. Lawlor, I am glad that I was able to assist you. In the future if you have any questions, you have all of my contact information and you can call me at any point. Thank you for being a valued member! Rashad Hunter Operations Supervisor

RE: Poor Service

We had our first experience with Good Sam Roadside Assistance. We have the Platinum + plan. Serpentine belt wheel came off and threw the belt and cased some additional damage thrashing the pully around. Consequently we had no power steering, charging, and coolant flow. We were 6 miles east of Brush Colorado on Hwy 34. Called GS Roadside Assistance. On and off 45 mins on hold. 3 hours later the tow truck showed up. Told dispatcher it was under warranty and needed to go to the closest Dodge/Cummins Dealer. Truck got towed 7 miles to neither a Dodge nor Cummins facility. Now I need to make other arrangements to tow it again to a facility that can actually make the necessary repairs. I'm not satisfied. I'm looking elsewhere.
