RE: Fallen in love with a Carri-lite

Not going to address the weight of that unit, our 05 32RS3 has a factory gross limitr of 14.4k and tips the scales at 13.1 when loaded for a months travel.
Love the quality and features. Yes, Carriage is history but not a concern once unit has been through initial shakedown period.
We did 13 states in 3 weeks last summer, in comfort and reliability.

RE: 2001 Ford F-350

Great truck, with that weight it should last you a long time. With that price, I'd expect some maintenance history. Ball joints should have been replaced and scheduled service on transmission and cooling system should have been done.
I tow 13K with mine and have passed continental divide signs several times, usually around 45mph.

RE: 2001 F350 7.3L

Mine tows 13k with ease, crosses the Rockies at 45mph. As stated, trannie and CPS are weak points, Ford now has a heavier replacement trannie as well as aftermarket suppliers, go International for CPS.

RE: Slide out scratching wood floor

Have not tried this yet, saw a solution where thin plywood was attached to the non-skid material used in RV cabnets and then placed in slide path when bringing in slide (no skid, thin, inexpensive).

RE: Replacing exterior slide out gasket/seal on Carriage Cameo

If you mean the flange gasket, seal when slide closed, the last one I did was self adhesive and pretty simple. clean it well and don't get in a hurry. The hard part may be finding the right seal material, I got mine from Carriage at $1 a foot.

RE: That was weird.....

Could have been a good thing, we were camped in a city park in OK last June. Banging on door late in evening (after bedtime) was city cops warning of tornado liklyhood.
I agree with prior statements, if you don't know what to do with gun You shouldn't have it.

We tried Bakersfield to Sacramento on 99 last June, between road condition and local traffic we'll go with I5 in the future.

Only option on these is replace. have seen both 5 and 10 year guidelines for replacement. Have not found anyone local that I trust to do replace (requires "special" press?).

West Yellowstone is right at the entrance and has several RV parks as well as tourist traps and eateries (fuel selection was limited when we were there in 09).

RE: 5th wheel hitching mirror

I have adjusted hitch and pinbox to point where they meet at about the bed rail level. Now I can see match in rear view mirror. Also, a spot of white paint on front center of hitch lines up nice with the pin.
