RE: Scooters

A lot of the state, county and municipal parks require those things to be "street legal".
i.e. License plate(s), headlight, tail and brake lights, turn signals and insurance. That's true for Ohio State Parks. The park roads are county roads and have the sam,e laws as any other road in the state. Kids cannot even use ther little battery powere Barbie jeeps or other battery powered vehicles/scooters. Rangers will ticket you.

I-29

Any body been up I-29 from Omaha to Sioux City lately? Last time we were suppose to go that route it was flooded and we ended going over to Grand Island NE and the up a state route to South Dakota. We are leaving June 1st and will be traveling that stretch on June 2nd. I looked at the I-29 web site and they don't show any flooded areas but it looks like there might still be a lot of constuction going on with stretches of two lanes in places. Any info appreciated.

RE: Think he got a ticket?

A few years ago when I had a fuel pressure line break on my truck, the tow truck drive towed my truck with the 5th wheel still hooked up to it to a campground where I unhooked the 5th wheel and he then towed the truck to the dealer. I though that looked strange but this is even better.

RE: Front Living (Which one)

After looking at all the models we went with the Cardinal 3800FL. One of the main reasons was the basement storage area in the Cardinal was much bigger and the front slides are huge. The Cardinal also has the 23 cubic foot residential refrig with the inverter for power when not hooked up to campground power. We spend 8 months a year in our camper as camp host and love our Cardinal. Ours listed for 89,000 but we got it for 59,000 with a free Sat dish.

RE: Husky Hitch Opinion

I have a 20K husky hitch that I am very happy with. Have used in on two different 5th wheels, a Fuzion toy hauler and my current Cardinal. One thing is what is the gvwr of your new Cyclone? If it is a double axel it will be around 15K to 16K which will be right at the limit for the 16K hitch. If it is a triple axel the the gvrw will be around 18K. If it were me I would go with the 20K version. Not much difference in the price and you will have more than enough hitch.

RE: front end livingrooms

I saw a 5th with an up front kitchen that I liked but I wound up getting a front bedroom because I anyone with bad intentions is more likely to do their deed at night when people are sleeping and I figure I am more likely to hear anyone mucking around with my truck or the basement storage area if I am sleeping up front. The slide out bed has a window that allows me to see the port side of the rig without getting out of bed.
Having the living room in the rear gives me a view through the large rear window and a few smaller windows while I sit back and relax I like having windows that give me lots of sunlight in the living room, if the living room was up front there would be no front window and even if there was a window up front all I would have is a view of my truck. The bedroom is darker without all the windows the rear has but that is a good thing because I sometimes stop to take a daytime nap.
============================================
One other thing about the front bedroom is that the bathroom is also in the front. If I pull over to the side of the road I can use the bathroom without opening any slide, I can take a nap at a rest stop without opening a slide but if I need to get to the rear I have to open a slide
On my Cardinal 3800FL, even with five slides, I still have full use of my kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with all the slides closed. That was a must for us. Our front living room has lots of windows and great views.

RE: what works on sticky decals

Peanut Butter, it will also remove tar and bug juice. Works great and you can snack while cleaning.

RE: front end livingrooms

The basement storage in our Cardinal 3800FL is huge even with the spare tire and a 32 inch TV with drop down speakers. Cardinal uses a cable slide system for the front two slides so the motors and cables are mounted over top so you don't use up any under floor space. the slide are both 10 feet long with plenty of head room. there is a 9 foot couch on one side and a 9 foot sleeper sofa with lounge seat on the other side. Up fron is a book case and a 55 inch tv over the fireplace. we love it.

RE: Funding the state coffers!

I feel your pain. I just had to get tags for my new Cardinal 3800FL and they had the nerve to charge me 40 dollars. I did pay 2200 in sales tax when I bought it if that helps.

RE: Campgrounds Custer, SD

We love Big Pine. The only down side is no pool if that is a concern for you. This year we are staying at Rafter J on the Island. Lots of nice campgrounds in the area. We really like the Custer area and the little town of Custer. Even during Sturgis bike week, Custer is less crowded.

RE: Direc tv antenna

I have one just like that sitting in a pile of junk ready to go to the dump. A lightning strike took out all of the LNB's so Direct TV came out and put me a new style dish on the house. They told me to just toss the old dish because it was outdated and useless. Hope yours has good LNB's and will work with you boxes. Good luck.

RE: Mt Rushmore in a 26' Class C

Been there many times and am going back in June driving a F350 dullay towing a 43 ft 5th wheel. You will be fine in a 26ft motorhome. Plenty of places to park. Just stay off the Needels Highway and Iron Mountian Road (16A) and you won't have any problems. The rest of the roads are plenty big enough for your motorhome. I see 40 and 45 foot Class a's there all the time. You could even do the needels highway depending on your height. Google it and take a look. Go to Google earth and you can look at all the roads in that area and see that it's not a problem. Have a great trip as this is on beautiful place.

RE: 5th wheel legs

The snap pins are about the only answer short of auto levelers at about 4K. My Cardinal came with the six point auto level system and I will never go back.

RE: Chip in Fiberglass

Go to a boat dealer and get some Marine Tex and you can color it to match. You just put it on and then use a fine sand paper to smooth it out. You want be able to tell the difference if done right.

RE: Length, length, maybe not.

42'11" and 5 slides here and love ever inch of it. We spend seven months a year in our RV and would go crazy in a small unit with no slides. Different strokes for different folks.

RE: Cardinal 3450RL or 3800FL?

We love our 3800FL and we don't see any problem with storage. The cardinal has much more basement storage than other FL models we looked at. We are camp host and stay in ours 8 months of the year.

RE: Wood Sign to Post on Campsite

You should be able to get one made the way you want it in any resort town that you visit. We had ours made in Gatlinburg TN
We just had one made in Gatlinburg last week. They did a real n ice job and put a male and female Cardinal on it with our names. It is a little shop on the main street. I will see if I can find their card and post the web site.
this is it.

RE: Michigan State Parks should offer Seasonal/Monthly Sites

I am a camp host at an Ohio State Park and we just went to some seasonal sites ( I am totaly against it). Our park is very beautiful and my biggest fear is that it will become a trailer park with all the negatives that go with it. Our park is very hard to get a site on most weekends and this will mean even more weekend campers will not be able to get a site. I can't think of any good that will come from seasonal sites other than precieved monetary gains.
A bad idea all the way around.

RE: Crossroads Lincoln...

We looked at one before buying our Cardinal front living room. The front window is made from auto windshield glass and should hold up well. We liked our Cardinal full size residential refirg vs the Lincoln double rv refer set up. Also perfered the arched celing in our vs the flat celling in the crossroads. Other than that, I like the Lincoln and think it is a nice set up.
