RE: Thanks for everybodys help

Sounds awesome, so jealous! I wish it was my family and I taking the trip! We want to head that way so desperately! We will wait for another year or so, until our littlest monkey gets a little older, the drive out from the Midwest is still a little too far for her! Please post pictures when you go! Hope you have an awesome time!

RE: Leak in our 2012 Jayco 26BH

Several years ago our Jayco was delivered April 30th, on May 22nd we had our first rain and leak. We tried with the dealer for several years to fix. At one point they had it 6 months and it still leaked. We finally called Jayco and when Jayco called back they said dealer said it was failure to maintain. I do not know what I was supposed to maintain in 22 days but will never buy from that dealer again. That would have been worth going to court for in my opinion. Unbelievable! As for the OP, I too am interested in how this turns out as I will be picking up my 2012 Jayco in about 7 weeks time. Different design, but still the same company. Good luck! So my DH is on his way out to pick up our camper. They fixed the issue and said it was under warranty so we don't owe anything. While they had the roof off they looked at the frame and said that they did not see any damage at this time and also took pictures. Dealer said that Jayco noted our account with the details and pictures and if we should have any issues due to water damage down the road that they would take care of it! I really do not want to test that so hopefully we do not end up having issues later!

RE: Removing decal leftovers from bathroom sink

I have found that WD-40 will get a lot of adhesives and other things off... I don't know if it would damage the sink. But I've used it all over, even on me, and it cleans great. X2 WD-40 works great!

RE: Leak in our 2012 Jayco 26BH

For those of you dealing with leaks let me tell you of something else to check. If the underside of your JayCo has a fabric covering, pierce it and check it see if it is holding water. We have a 1996 JayCo Eagle 324. I knew I had a leak in the roof which caused damage tithe walls and a little to the floor. It didn't need replacing but I wanted everything to be 100% so I decided to pull the floor and replace it. Good thing I did as there was 5 gallons of water trapped under the floor. There was NO signs of the water none, no dripping anywhere. When you say fabric covering, are you referring to the thermal package? We have that under covering/thermal package, not sure what it is really made of. Thanks for mentioning to check it as that is not something that I had thought about!!!!

Leak in our 2012 Jayco 26BH

We have a leak in our 2012 Jayco 26BH, so I have a couple questions. A little history first- This is actually the second time we have noticed water inside the trailer, the first time it was during a torrential down poor and high winds. We were actually camping in the trailer that time. There have been other storms since where we did not notice any water inside. Since there was such a small amount of water that had made its way inside the right wardrobe cabinet and we had not noticed water again, we chalked it up to a little bit of water being blown up under the siding, guess not rookies! Yesterday when we went to pick our trailer up from storage (stored outside) getting ready for a trip south in a few weeks, we were looking over everything (It was lightly raining) and my husband noticed that the left top corner of the head board was a little wet. On further investigating we found some water inside the top overhead cabinet above the bed (no water in the right wardrobe this time) that water was dripping down the wall onto the head board. After is started raining harder we did actually have a pool of water on the left night stand. In the storage area under the bed the wood is wet but none of the stuff in the storage is wet. What should we be doing until we get the TT to the Jayco dealer to help minimize any damage by the water? Also when we take it to the Jayco dealer, we bought it new so it should still be under warranty, what should our expectations be on them addressing the leak. We are suppose to leave for our trip in 12 days, is it reasonable to think we can still go?

RE: Heading to southern Louisiana

Thank you for all the suggestions we have changed our reservations from Tickfaw to Fontainebleau just so we don't have to worry about the possibility of flooding! Looking forward to the trip! This will be our first with just the DH and myself with no kiddos!

Heading to southern Louisiana

RE: MUELLER STATE PARK, CO

Beautiful park! We loved it! Our family stayed there mid July last year and plan to go back someday but there are just so many places we want to visit!!!!!! We stayed in campsite 46 as well as 92. Both were fine, and would gladly stay at both again. Site 41 and 42 have an AMAZING view but as expected book quickly. I like the campsites that were in the area of site 92 (I can't pull up the map of the park at this time) as most of them were pull through, some had big rocks to climb on while others have lots of beautiful Aspens. With most if not all of those sights your looking into the forest which is exactly what we wanted! Great area with lots to see outside the park if you so choose. One of my favorite things we did was take the Cog Railroad up Pikes Peak, I think it took two hours round trip with some time at the top of Pikes Peak, but the views were amazing and I would do it again! Garden of the Gods was also pretty cool. You can also pull up Google earth to get an idea of the camp sites, but the link that was posted previously should be just about all you need. Enjoy your trip! We too have a F150 EB Super Crew but pull a Jayco 26bh.

RE: Looking to buy our first Travel Trailer, Help Needed

I know there is more to picking the right TT for your TV then just the max tow capacity, for instance the tongue weight, but I will leave that to the experts! But here is my two cents worth - Jayco has a Jay Feather 228 that has triple bunks/queen bed/dinette that converts to a bed all with a GVW of 4,950. Granted your not getting the "luxury" of bigger holding tanks, and a lot of extra living space, but I bet it sure beats sleeping in a tent! Have you considered a pop up or a hybrid? Jayco also has a 264BH with double bunks/queen bed/a coach and dinette for sleeping with a GVW of 6500. We have a 26BH which is basically the same TT but with bigger holding tanks and some other options, GVW is 7500. We are a family of five, however three girls ages 1.5 to 8 and we do just fine. We have on several week long trips slept four adults and three kiddos with no problem. Could we use more space ABSOLUTELY, but is it going to stop us from going and taking extra people with us ABSOLUTELY not. After all we are only in the TT at the same time when everyone is sleeping. And we have been camping while it was raining, some of us just stayed under the awning. Hindsight is 20/20 and if we were to make our first purchase over again we would probably look more seriously into getting a slide, with pretty much the same floor plan. So tell your husband it is possible and a lot of fun! Good luck in your search

RE: First Travel Trailer Purchase

When my husband and I started our search we were originally looking at pop-ups, then moved to small TT like your looking at, and we ended up with a Jayco 26BHS. Honestly we should have gone bigger or rather added a slide! When you go to the RV show take some time in the ones that you think you are interested in, and just do what you see your day to day activities will be, also think about being inside on rainy days. More than likely if this is something your even considering then it is going to be something that you will really enjoy, and will end up wanting more space! One thing for sure there is a lot of great advice on here. Good luck on your search.

Ludington SP site 176 - July 21-25

I know this is a LONG SHOT but to the person this morning at 8:00:05 am EST who beat me to reserving site 176 at Ludington State park for July 21-25. I see that you booked it for the entire 15 day limit, if there is any chance that you are not going to need the site for the dates of July 21-25 is there any way you would be willing to work with me, when you make changes to the reservation? I would really like to visit this park that everyone talks so highly about, however after the third attempt to get a site with no success, I am beginning to think we will never get the chance! I thought I would make my plea for the off chance you belong to this forum! Really ANYONE with a site big enough for a 30 ft TT that is not going to use their reservations for that time PLEASE send me a PM. Thanks!

RE: Camping around Lake Michigan

On the Michigan side Ludington State Park has a lot to offer. The campgrounds are walking/biking distance from the lake and great beaches. There's also a lighthouse there where you can climb to the top. Hamlin Lake is on the other side of the campgrounds and offers good fishing opportunities. Ludington State Park Sounds just like what I am looking for. Do you have a specific campsite or sites that you would suggest? Looking for one with a little bit of sapce and privacy? How long of a drive for you being from SW Missouri?

RE: Camping around Lake Michigan

X2 for Ludington SP. However, get reservations early as it is a very popular park. Also, there are many other Michigan state parks on the western side of the state that have access to Lake Michigan. Thank you for your input, do you have a specific camp site or sites that you would recommend, one that has a bit of privacy or space for younger children to play around without bothering your neighbors? Is the beach super crowded?

RE: Camping around Lake Michigan

You didn't mention from which state you wanted to camp from. Here is one from Illinois. http://dnr.state.il.us/Lands/landmgt/parks/R2/ILBEACH.HTM Doesn't really matter what state, just looking for access to a nice beach and a nice campground, one that isn't like a parking lot! Would prefer electricity and trees. What I consider to be a parking lot is like the KOA's we have stayed at for a night, where you have very little space and there is nothing in between you and your neighbors.

Camping around Lake Michigan

Looking for sugestions on places to camp with access to a nice beach or at least near by the campground, on Lake Michigan. Preferrably one that has electric hookups. As always Thank you~

RE: The Smokys for fall foliage Viewing

What is so important at Cades Cove, that people will sit in traffic for 4 to 6 hours? We started to go, but took the first short cut out of there. We saw some beautiful colors and white snow. The Cades Cove loop has many stops and hikes, as well as the beautiful view of wildlife and the mountains. You can see old home steads, churches, a farm with a working mill all of which you can actually walk through. The two to three hours they estimate is not straight driving time but an estimate for if you were to get out and take the small hikes to see the different buildings. We did it this past week and it was beautiful! http://i45.tinypic.com/2vx4ryq.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/33bh07l.jpg

Leaving on Friday for 3 days in the Pisgah Forest! I'm like a kid at Christmas...counting the hours. Right there with you! We leave in 38 hours! But won't make it to the GSMNP until Saturday.

RE: The Smokys for fall foliage Viewing

Made the trip to Cades Cove this weekend and there were signs stating the time to complete the loop was 2 - 3 hours....and they weren't kidding, it was freaking packed up there. We ended up taking one of the cut across roads out of there to not stay in that traffic. Anyways, in the cove you can start to see the leaves changing in the higher elevations so it is coming. I have some pictures on my camera but forgot to take them off last night so I will post one once I get that done (hopefully tonight). Thank you for the info and the pictures! AWESOME!

RE: This is how we roll...

Those are some nice rigs. We are sitting in a campground right now by the Smoky Mountain National Park. My dad and I brought our rigs 500+ miles today and just got setup. Having an adult beverage, cooking supper and resting. Shadow_Grey, as you go through GSMNP can you give updates on how the fall colors are? We will be heading there in about two weeks; it’s looking like we are going to be on the backside of the peak!!!! BIG SIGH :( GSMNP update...The Fall leaves are turning all colors. Higher elevations are good while lower elevations are green and yellow. Peak times we are told will be in 1-2 weeks for all elevations. Lots of leaves on the ground and roadways but many more still on the trees. Thanks for the update!
