RE: am i being too picky ?

Maybe the problem is that people don't use their rigs ENOUGH.

RE: am i being too picky ?

One who ownes an RV does not need another hobby.
Truer words were never spoken, a friend of mine who was an old time RV owner told me two things that I believe are true.
1. The two happiest days in RV ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
2. For every hour of pleasure and use you get from your RV you spend one hour of prep or maintenance.

RE: Windshield leak and slideouts

My slide switch is right by the entrance door to the MH, I always open the door when activating the slides, either in or out. I can actually feel the air pressure going by me when pulling the living room slide in. I know a lot of people don't beleive this and I guess you could prove it to yourself by putting a tissue paper streamer near a slightly opened window with the screen off and watch the streamer fly out the window when you pull the slide in and the pressure builds. After all there is a whole lot of area that is displaced when that room comes in, the air has to go somewhere. It doesn't matter to me what people do, it is just what I do, I open the door. Makes sense to me. Works for me. Whether it would push a windshield out or cause a leak in the windshield I am sure is probably not going to be determined without some major scientific measurements with fancy instruments. But why not do it, open the door, just to be sure? Doesn't cost a thing to do it.
You can't say it any better than that:)

RE: Whats the best way to test the heater on the driveway ?

Turn on the propane, (bleed the lines through the stove)
Turn on the furnace (thermostat)..no different than if you were camping.

Now that does have a double meaning doesn't it? :W
Yes, practically everyone has issues the first year of ownership, purchasing new or used.

RE: Water Pressure Regulators

Their prices are a little high and the freight can be very high.
Don
Agreed, I forgot to mention that, thanks Don. Still a good place for lots of info and one stop shopping.

RE: tire age

Yes, this subject has been around several times but it is good to get it out there as often as possible as still, many are not aware of this danger. I just replaced my 66 month old Michelin XPS Ribs that looked great, no dry rot and only 30K miles. Cheaper than body work or worse.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard,
That was a really GREAT!! Interview, I would encourage everyone to watch the entire clip. I also clicked around the RV Buddies site and found it to be pretty cool. I will be sure to add them to my favorites list.

RE: New site Format

I thought I messed up my preferences or something, thanks for letting me know I am not the only one having trouble with the new format. At least we have the comfort of knowing that spell check is still broken :B

RE: Towing broken down class C?

Agreed, a tow dolly is absolutely out of the question. Sorry, but I know this is not possible with a rental dolly from U-Haul or Penske. There may be a dolly I am not aware of that may accomplish this but then you will have to have a ball mount, ball and hitch rated for the GVWR to be safe. I have used these products for very heavy towing but once you get over 10,000 pounds they are very hard to find and generally not available to the public with out a lot of searching. Please, someone correct me if I am wrong, yes I know some new trucks have very heavy and highly rated ball mount tow systems but they are few and far between.
Also, the car I donated to charity was in good shape and sold for $1700.00 and by the new tax rules that is what you are allowed to write off.
Let the flaming begin :B

RE: Towing broken down class C?

I have a 1984, 24' Jamboree, it weighs 9600 empty and right at 11,000 loaded. Yes it's worth "to me" considerably more than a towing fee. I often say it is the hundred thousand dollar RV worth three grand :B
I have also donated cars to charitable organizations with a positive experience.
Good luck, Gary
