RE: Made Switch: Lance 825 to 830

Congratulations! I too had problems with the tent area caulking, solved by using eternabond on the four seems (two top, two sides)

RE: Wolf Creek 850 or Lance 830/tent?

We use ours year round mostly in Southern California but in all types of weather. Yes it is cooler in the winter and our furnace may run a bit longer, but it still stays warm. We used it last year, and will again this year in Yellowstone and have not had any bear issues. When it rains I simply open it up at home and let it dry out and then close it up for storage. Remember the tent doesn't need to be deployed and then you have a "normal" truck camper. We have only slept with the tent up once, two kids on dinette, two adults in cabover, and one kid on the floor. During our travels I've only ran out of propane once, and that was on a two week trip through Yellowstone where the temps were low and we ran the heater a lot. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions...

RE: Lance 830 w/Tent

I have no "proof" of this, but my dealer said they couldn't get the Thermarest tent anymore and had to re-design a new one. Mine doesn't leak, however I put eterna-bond on all my seals surrounding the tent. With a family of 5 I wouldn't know what to do without that tent, love it!

RE: Mega Cab with Lance 830

These campers are heavy at 2300 lbs dry and 2800 w/ options includung the rear tent.
OP is looking to go from a gas Chevy to a diesel Megacab. More cab room and more power should be a nice upgrade. Upgrading the boat next?
Good guess! Already have the 830 and a Tige Ski boat (little tongue weight and around 4500 pounds). Just don't have the power to tow boat and carry the camper. Looks like a "normal" sized short bed with a diesel is in order. Maybe a dually, just not sure I want to go that route yet....

Mega Cab with Lance 830

I'm looking at maybe getting a megacab with the Diesel to replace my Chevy. Those of you who use the megacab with a camper how does it handle? I know I've seen a few on here that even carry a Lance 830. Thanks for any thoughts/ideas

RE: 6.0 chev...2500hd...Anyone haul TC ...??

I have a 2004 6.0 2500hd AND have a Lance 830. I've driven it 1000's of miles and haven't had a problem yet. It will run high RPMs on hills, but I always make it to the top! The only issue I have is sometimes in the right situation I get some side to side sway offroad or other off camber situations, going down the road it handles the weight great..

RE: hellwigs/supersprings with airbags

Yes E rated tires and bags are plumed individually and are only set at 5psi..
So the next question is Supersprings or Hellwig?

hellwigs/supersprings with airbags

On a 2500HD with airbags and no top overload springs can either the Hellwig or Superspring be mounted with the airbags in place? Or would the Airbags need to be removed? I get some really bad side to side sway when on non maintained dirt roads, even with the airbags set to under 5 psi.
I put stableloads and Rancho 9000's on and that helped some but still get bad side to side roll when on dirt roads that aren't perfectly maintained.
Thanks

RE: Would an 830 help my problem

We use our 830 with a family of 5 and it works good as long as everyone isn't getting dressed at once! When it's cold I sleep in the tent and my girls and wife sleep on the bed and dinette. You could easily sleep on the dinette (I have and I'm 6'2 230 and fit) and the baby can sleep with mom on cabover bed. ALl the "stuff" could fit in the tent making for a clutter free living environment...

RE: What is gained with a side entry?

It seems clear that both designs have their advantages. I can picture the side entry being really nice when towing and when set up at a campground. I can't picture myself shoving my kayak in a side entry which I hadn't even thought of.
This is a good point! I have a difficult time getting my 10' longboard into the camper with my side door camper. When I had a rear door lance it was easy. Now I usually put it up on the rack...
Other than that love the side door on my Lance 830

RE: Where do you Store / Run your Honda 2000 on a TC?

This is in reswponse to the cutting of the handle. They sell a theft deterrent device. It goes over the handle and is a piece of steel that covers the top and goes past where the handle goes into the case. Attaches with 2 locking bolts. Got it from tweety's or Mayberrys. Don't remember.
Might be worth a try

RE: Co/Gas alarm

I just bought new one and installed it. Like others have said it's only in the heat of the day when it's all closed up. I guess I'll just kill the power to it.
Could it be my batteries? It's on solar with float charge and it shuts down when the battery is full so it "shouldn't" be overcharging.

Co/Gas alarm

Hello,
I've run into an issue I can't solve. My alarm goes off in the middle of the day when the camper is stored at home and not in use. Propane is off nothing in use. I've replaced the alarm and get the same results any ideas?

RE: Short bed 6'6" TC - Brands??

six-pac use to make one that would fit flush with a shortbed truck.
