RE: Website of the Home Of Orange County Choppers.

They don't 'Build' bikes........
They just assemble 'Parts' and have someone else paint/chrome the parts.
Bunch of clowns!!!

RE: getting rid of the stuff

We outfitted our rig with:
What we knew we needed then,
What we might need then,
What we would like to keep.
We called the kids and told them....."Come get what you want"
Then we called our good friends and neighbors....."Come get what you want"
Then we had an estate auction........sold EVERYTHING (9am-5pm), house was empty and made a very nice sum of money which went into savings for the 'what if'. 2 1/2 years later still have that 'what if' fund.
AND we found out in the first 6 months on the road that we didn't need alot of the stuff we took with us. If we hadn't used it by then we didn't need it so it went to local churches across the mid-west.
Remember, it's just STUFF......memories are what count. Good luck/enjoy your new adventure.

RE: Considering full-timing with 6 kids... are we nuts?

When I was growing up we moved frequently, my dad was a self-employed welder and followed the oil field in the mid-west. We lived in stick & brick homes in numerous towns in Wyo., Utah and Colorado. I went to 3 different elementary schools (3 diff. towns), 2 different junior high schools (2 diff. towns) and 2 different high schools (same town).......always the new kid, many different friends BUT no long term life friends. Saw/lived in a lot of interesting places and Mom was real good at making it an adventure......and I was young so I adapted BUT never had any real 'roots'. My brother & sister were several years older and it was harder for/on them as we moved from place to place.
Just realize that right now the 'kids' are probably excited about the idea BUT kids excitement wanes easily. And although it would be a memorial adventure so is going to DisneyLand but not everyday. Kids need stability and as they get older some privacy......neither of which would be provided 'on-the-road'
JMHO from one who grew up constantly moving.

RE: 30amp Site instead of 50amp

That's why they make a 50A to 30A adapter.
In the past 2 1/2 years we have used the adapter more times than straight 50A with no problems.....1 A/C, microwave, water heater, coffee maker, electric skillet, TV, DVD, Radio, lights etc.
Dual A/C's at the same time with high draw appliances will trip 30A breaker, otherwise OK.
Enjoy your new 5'vr and your trip in December.

RE: Where to get wood for campfires?

Full time/camp fires....not coexisting???
Why??? Don't get the connection......(or disconnection)
To the OP.....firewood is available 'locally', we don't have a campfire every night but we do have one at least once a week. For us it's part of the experience, one that we enjoyed camping and continue to enjoy full time.

RE: Check engine light

Several checks can be done via key on Dodge Trucks:
Engine/tranny codes: Key off-on 3x
Engine run hours: Key on, then hold odometer trip button
Check gauges/C-codes: Hold odometer trip button, turn key on then release trip button
List of computer codes

RE: Water tank / city water

Typically your water tank supplies water for your water pump
City water connects downstream of water pump discharge( after) thereby bypassing water tank.

RE: Lippert Electric Landing Gear Maintenance?

When I fully extend or retract my landing gear they Chatter. Find the spot that they chatter at then mark them as discussed.
Inside storage compartment on top of landing gear s/b a tin cover, pop it off, grease the gears pop cover back on.....probably less than a minute each side to do (once you do it the first time).

RE: Valley 16K slider

Also have Husky 4-way pivot hitch.
Very happy with it.
Like the jaw lock indicator and the fact that the jaw wraps around king pin.
4-way pivot works great. Been in some very unlevel sites and never had a problem unhooking/hooking up. Solid hitch.

Just a mid-western country boy, raised by an old southern country boy.
Listened to country & blues my whole childhood, then rock-n-roll my teen years but came back to country & blues after adulthood.

RE: Who makes the best replacement truck tires?

Michelin LTX AT2's
Kinda a cross between a highway tread and a M&S tread. Quiet, good control. Work real good on wet road/grass, work pretty good on dirt/gravel road, work OK on light snow/muddy road. Not so good in heavy snow/really muddy/deep gravel......not aggressive enough tread for that. Don't off road (4X2) so they have performed well for me.
25,000(+) miles and have worn very well.....lots and lots of tread left, no cupping, no outta round issues etc.

RE: Exhaust Breacks

Tow/haul mode on my Dodge downshifts when I decelerate (with/without braking)
so it does slow me down. Use tow/haul mode alot when driving in towns and always when towing 5'vr.
Have EB also and use it all the time when towing 5'vr and sometimes when not towing.
Tow/haul is good.....EB is good.....Combo of the two is great.
