Colorado's Independence Pass

According to an article in the Denver Post, CDOT is planning on opening Independence Pass on May 23rd IF there is not significant new snowfall. They are clearing three feet of snow now.

RE: The Drunk Caller is Back!

Our home tel. number is one digit different than a national stock brokerage firm. We get 3-5 calls for them each week from different callers that were just careless in dialing. We used to tell them they had a wrong number but now we just take the callers' order to buy or sell stock.

RE: Traveling from Florida to Los Angeles, California

John Madden's favorite mexican restaurant in Van Horn is named Chuy's and sits midtown on the main drag. I used to eat there 5-6 times a year, but the last couple of times it had gone down in quality. To me, it is just another cafe.

RE: Trip to Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper: advice?

You might consider renting a car in Banff as the attractions are not within walking distance of Tunnel Mtn. CG. Same at Jasper, you will need a car. I would stay 3 nights at Banff, 1 at Icefields, & 3 at Jasper. Lake Louise could be done the day you drive from Banff to Icefields, thus saving you some changing of CGs.

RE: 9 hours to mount tires at Jacksonville, FL Camping World

I recently purchased 4 tires from Discount Tire (national chain) and they were done in about 45 minutes. They included 1) great friendly service, 2) extended road hazard, 3) on the spot rebate, and 4) $100 pre-paid debit card sent to me 10 days later! This is my second purchase from them and won't be my last!

RE: Safe RV parks in the El Paso area ?

RE: colorado routes

There is a very strict length limit on vehicles traveling from Aspen east to Twin Lakes. Even if there wasn't, you would not want to take a 40' because of narrow hiway, sharp curves, and numerous switchbacks. Sorry, take the long, but safe, hiway 50 or I-70.

RE: Questions about dealer including a Fantastic Fan w/purchase

This post must be a joke! I cannot believe anyone would pay LIST PRICE.... and then quibble over the cost of a Fantastic Fan!

Why do you want to take a "fireman" thru Canada? LOL

RE: Newb question: Stranger approaches your RV

I liked WesternRVparkowners' reply regarding change for a $5. I would take it a step further and offer change for a $1...3 quarters, 2 dimes, and a nickel!!

RE: Celebration- I got reservations at Banff!!!

I have never had a problem like that. It has been just like in the U.S.....book it, charge it on a credit card. Simple!

RE: Reality TV shows are degrading

To me, the only "reality show" that doesn't seem scripted is Deadliest Catch. It would be difficult to script and stage Bering Sea storms, pots falling on crewmen, men overboard, boats sinking, Coast Guard rescues, etc. The rest are pure scripted and predictable garbage!

RE: RV Parking at Royal Caribbean terminal in Fort Lauderdale

You might check out the Carnival Cruise Lines' parking lot as it is probably empty!

RV Parks not showing rates

Over the past few days, I have noticed many RV parks are no longer showing their rates on their websites. Instead, they use "call for rates". This seems to be counter-productive as a website is your advertisement and should be an easy was for prospective patrons to book with them. It is a waste of our time to call, only to get a message that they aren't open yet, or leave your message, etc. They do not always return calls in a timely manner. A website w/o rates is like a restaurant menu without prices. I'll take my business somewhere else.

RE: Colorado Springs area recommendations?

Sorry, but when I posted earlier I thought you said Colorado, rather than Colo. Springs. Unfortunately, you will not find anything near C/S with "a lake or a river in the park". The best camping near C/S and tourist attractions would be, as others have said, Cheyenne Mtn. State Park. Clean, close to town, nice sites, etc. Make res. NOW. Enjoy your trip!

RE: Colorado Springs area recommendations?

Colorado is a large state. Could you please narrow your area so we could help?

RE: Help- looking for info. between Glacier and Banff

I would skip Calgary and go directly to Waterton Lakes N.P. There are a couple of CGs in the Park, but we have stayed in Cardston at Lee Creek CG. It is a very nice, grassy and shady, quiet RV park about 30-45 minutes from Waterton Lakes. From there, you could go to Ft. McLeod, and then on into Banff.

RE: How much time to spend in three big parks (en route)

You sound as if you may be pressed for time. As a minimum, you could just drive along the rim at Canyon De Chelly as it has many viewpoints. You do not need to hire a guide. This could be done in 2-3 hours IF need be. Monument Valley can be seen on a self guided drive in less than a day. Arches is so spectacular that a couple of days would be great, BUT if you are short of time, a day can cover it, and still allow you time for a few short hikes to other arches in the Park. You will wish you had more time there!
