RE: Island Lake campground Co

Hwy 65 is fine for towing your TT. I would go up from Delta/Orchard City as it is less curvy than if you went up thru Mesa and Powderhorn. Take mosquito spray....in gallon sizes!

RE: Becoming diesel gunshy

Gee, if I had known diesels were so trouble free, I wouldn't have just traded mine for a gasser. Since October, it cost me $4500 on the "repair of the month club". Each month, it was something different such as fuel rail sensors and other things, plus the factory recommended 60K service was $995. Now I have a new gasser and a new 3 yr warranty and I am enjoying it! Sleeping better, too!

RE: Question about running a carfax report on an rv.

I recently traded a vehicle for a new one and yesterday saw my old one listed for sale by the dealer. Out of curiosity, I checked their website and it said they had Carfax on my old vehicle. Having never used Carfax, I was curious as to what it said. The Carfax wasn't even right on what city I bought it in! It didn't show an accident last year ($9500), nor did it show the routine factory scheduled maintenance performed at the dealership. All it showed was oil changes. So much for Carfax innacuracies!

RE: Travel Trailers Picking the right one

Give a lot of thought to just what you want to do and how you will use the TT. If you just drive 15 mi. to the lake twice a month, you don't need the high quality that you would need if you were going to go on 30 day trips. FS roads will beat up a TT more than blacktop roads, of course. Camping w/o hookups requires more than when you pull into an RV park. STorage is a big concern, be it for clothing or for fishing stuff, etc. As others have said, go touch, feel, sit in, ask, and listen. You will figure it out on your own.

RE: Colorado campgrounds

USFS campgrounds don't usually open until just before Memorial Day because of the weather/snow. In late April/early May, you could encounter blizzards such as we are having today. Better change the dates or plan on RV parks.

RE: E-470 Around Denver - Sticker Shock

I hope my out-of-state friends and relatives read this so they will understand why I do NOT agree to go to/from DIA to pick them up and return them after their visits!

Oregon gas tax and minimum wage going up?

My neighbor saw an article about Oregon raising their gas tax by $1.00 per gallon AND raising the state minimum wage to $15.00 per hour! If so, this will really cost RVrs and others big time, not just from the gas tax, but the min. wage increase will cause EVERYTHING to go up! If these increases are true, what in the world could they be thinking? This could make a huge dent in the tourism business and kill a lot of small businesses! Does anyone know if this is true?

RE: 6.7 Cummins with 68RFE - what gear you tow in?

I just traded a 2010 Dodge 6.7 with a 3.73. It towed in overdrive until I got into mountains and then I went into tow haul. Just put it in cruise control, sit back and steer. It will do the rest.

RE: US 50

Hwy 50 is a good road but there may still be a small construction area East of Cimarron. A very scenic drive! There are several campgrounds and RV parks West of Gunnison, plus 4-5 in Gunnison. From Gunnison to Salida, there are a couple of FS campgrounds, plus two RV parks just west of Poncha Springs. Salida has a couple of RV parks, too. Between Salida and Canon City there are 3-4 RV parks along the river, plus State campgrounds. There are a bunch of RV parks near Royal Gorge. From there, you are almost to Pueblo. For fuel, it's Montrose, Gunnison, and Salida area....none in between. Have fun and enjoy the beautiful drive.

RE: Why I will never use Camping World for service ever again.

No sense writing Marcus as corporate sales and service attitudes come from the top!! They USED to be okay....before they were sold.

RE: heat pump

We use ours on cool mornings for a few minutes just to take the chill out of the air. You'll appreciate having it.

RE: Which style of BBQ sauce for you?

I don't like sauces. If you use a good dry rub, and baste your meat, and smoke it slowly, you will have delicious meat. Don't ruin it by slopping sauce on it!

Best brand of tonneau covers?

We bought a 2015 Ram Crew Cab yesterday and will go shopping for a HARD tonneau cover in the next few days. We have had several A.R.E.s and they have been okay but I am wondering if there are better brands available at a comparable price. I know Leer and Snugtop must be good and we will check them out. Your experiences, comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
