RE: Dog Owners - Need Your Suggestions

We have a wonderful tri-colored Cavalier King Charles that is 99.9% perfect. He loves to travel but will do anything you want to do. Walking, sleeping, sitting around, playing...he is game for what YOU want to do. He wakes up happy and goes to bed happy. He has never met someone he didn't like and loves all other dogs he meets. If we wanted another purebred, we would get another CKC without reservation BUT Please check out various shelters as you travel and you will surely find a dog that will pick YOU!

RE: Who makes the best Ruben Sandwich?

The best I've ever had was at a small lodge near Almont, Colorado. I have no idea of the name, but I can drive you there.

RE: Vernal, UT to Laramie, WY via US-40E thru Steamboat Springs

My vote goes to N. of Vernal to I-80, as then you will make better time and I guarantee you a tail wind when you are on I-80. The view will be semis, high desert, antelope, and a few elk. Going the other way, east of Vernal, will give you a much more scenic drive BUT will be slower because of curves, climbs, and other RVs. Both drives will be enjoyable for their own virtues. Have fun!

RE: Sunset Bay State Park, Oregon

It seems to me that you should have checked the place out BEFORE applying for work and accepting the job!

RE: Has anyone had a run in with any WILD animals?

You say you want "interesting stories" which would mean someone did something stupid around wildlife. We see bears, elk, deer, coyotes all of the time here in Colorado. The ONLY safe thing to do is AVOID them and watch them from a distance!!! Not interesting to talk about, but SAFE!

RE: Northern MI to Denver CO to Marana AZ

Snow and ice are always a big possibility in March so you might come up with an alternate route that would be more Southerly.

RE: Towing with Ram 2500, either 5.7 or 6.4 engine

Thanks to you all for your comments and opinions. Contrary to what a couple of you said, around here the dealers have mainly 6.4s, and 5.7s are rare in 2500. That should tell me something about towing in the mountains! I'm going with the 6.4! Thanks again!

RE: CO HWY 82 from i-70 to Aspen, CO

If you are going west from Twin Lakes, you can only take an RV to Independence Pass. You CANNOT take an RV past the pass because it is 1) illegal, and 2) NARROW and curvy. In spots it is only one lane, and it doesn't have guardrails most of the way. It is scary even without a TT. If you are coming from Carbondale, you are okay.

Towing with Ram 2500, either 5.7 or 6.4 engine

We are going from diesel back to gasser and I will stick with a Ram 2500. We tow all over the West which, of course, means lots of mountains to climb so I would like the power and payload of the 6.4. On the other hand, the truck will be my daily driver so I would lean toward the 5.7 for mpg. As I shop, research, and listen to others, I am realizing the best of each engine, BUT I am not hearing from others that tow in the mountains. I would appreciate hearing from those who tow with either engine, in the 2500. Please don't turn this into a brand war. Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!

RE: Moving up from PUP to TT, what to expect

We drive a Ram diesel and tow a heavy TT built by Arctic Fox using a WD hitch. We have never needed a sway bar because of the heavy weight of TT. If I towed a light TT, yes, I would use sway bar.

I cannot remember the name of the website that lists all of the mfg. quality ratings done by RV owners. Could someone please help me? Thanks!

RE: RV Park Reviews

I also find it to be too busy, with the useless maps with numbers (that don't show what they are), too much scrolling, and too spread out instead of being compact for easy scanning. Their choice of colors are not easy to read, either. They had a great site before, but have lost me with these changes.

RE: Campground Reviews

The old version was much easier to scan as it was more compact. Now it is spread all over the screen instead of neat list showing recent reviews that you could easily run down. Now it is "too busy". Agree with Mockturtle about clicking on more to see the review. Some people think they have to be changing things to justify their work.

RE: Colorado SP winter camping

Check on Rifle State Park as it is at a much lower elevation and may have running water all winter.
