RE: Highway 50 - Nevada - Place to overnight?

East of Austin is a small USFS CG with about 8-9 spaces. I think it is Bob Scott CG. We ate lunch there but did not spend the night. There were only a couple of spaces that we could have used, but it is in the "middle" of Nevada.

RE: Colorado Dude Ranch

We have been to five different Guest Ranches and enjoyed all but one. Make sure the emphasis is on what YOU want and you will enjoy them. Some only have 20-25 guests a week; others maybe 75-80. Do you like fishing, riding, hiking, photography, square dancing, or relaxing? Check out the menus and make sure you are comfortable with the style of food (delicious hearty meals or fru-fru stuff). Will you be "stuck" there or are there other places to visit while there? Lots of factors to consider. Cost is not always indicative of "value". Our favorite was a small, family-run ranch that was inexpensive but had nice clean cabins, great horses, good fishing, and good homestyle cooking. They also had adults only weeks....therefore NO crying kids.

RE: Coming to Colorado for the Color???

I came home today after a week in Redstone area. In that week, they have started big-time in some areas, but not in all areas. Vail to Dillon was best. I would say from about the 21st they will be great all over central Colorado. Southern Colorado would be a few days later.

RE: Custer SP/Blue Bell & Stockade Lake South

You mentioned camping in bear country while in Colorado. The Black Hills do not have bears, BUT they do have a lot of cougars. It's a different sort of concern than bears, as the cougars don't want your groceries; they want your small dogs. We have never had a problem in the B.H. and I know you will enjoy it!

RE: Colorado State Parks

You are not very articulate in your comments, but your complaints seem rather trivial to me. I would like to hear what REALLY happened to make you upset!

RE: Mild Rant. Don't Any of You Take care of your RV?

I don't understand why anyone is surprised at the filthy and neglected RVs. Just look at how PEOPLE neglect themselves, with shaggy, dirty hair, nasty unkept beards, and wearing clothing with holes in them! Look at their trashy yards and homes. How could you expect the RV to be any better than the house?

RE: Colorado or Tenn campground advice wanted.

MOST of the USFS cgs will be closed by the middle of September. A few without water in the cgs may still be open for hunters. You will be pretty much limited to private RV parks or a few State Parks that will be a lower elevations.

RE: Am I missing something- Camping World Discount

Several years ago, when I used to belong to GS/CW, I bought something once and they gave me my discount....which then reduced the cost to the normal retail!

RE: Financing Survey

We have always paid cash. Never finance anything that will depreciate in value or you will be upside-down sooner or later.

RE: Lead time ordering new trailer

Each manufacturer may be different but most have scheduled days to run each different model. A good RV dealer can find out the exact run date from the mfgr. when you order and it will be done on that day. If they keep stringing you along, then I would cancel and buy from a more reliable dealer!

RE: Best Elk Viewing in the Rocky Mountains

You can always rely on plenty of elk in Estes Park and RMNP. They are everywhere! Unfortunately, the crowds are too.

RE: Filling tank with five gallon tote?

It would be a lot simpler and faster just to use a funnel and pour it in. Done in 60 seconds!

RE: Expired Warranties

When your homeowners' insurance or car insurance expires, do you ask the insurance company to continue covering you....even though the policy expiration date has passed?

RE: Booning in National Forest or BLMs

Be careful where you go as the USFS has new rules re driving off of certain roads and two-tracks. You cannot just go "anywhere" in the National Forests any longer!
