RE: Pellet smokers/grills

I have two Traegers that I have used for years and love them! Can't speak for any other brands.

RE: Weapon storage before entering Canada

If you pay to store it at a licensed firearms dealer, when you pick it up you might have to complete the same federal paperwork as if you were buying the gun. Be careful, and check on that before you store!

RE: brand new battery dead

I bought two new Interstate batteries this Spring and they would not hold a charge. Took them back, and after much testing, they swapped them for two good ones. No problems since.

RE: Electric Smoker----Professional Brisket Results???

I have used a Traeger for years and you cannot go wrong with them. They also will provide you with recipes. I use several recipe books by pros to get my ideas, then I change some of them if needed. To get good results smoking you need to read, adapt, and learn. Most of all, you need patience as good smoking is low and slow.

RE: Cooper tires

I have had Coopers on several pick-ups and they rode very well. I wasn't towing then, but I wanted quiet and smooth rides and they delivered. My wife had Coopers on her Buick LeSabre and they were excellent also. I now have Michelins on my P-U and love them!

RE: South Dakota pheasant hunting.

Many of the small towns in pheasant hunting areas have municipal parks which have RV spaces at little or no cost. Find the towns near your hunting area and check for them. Also, south of Pierre is the Ft. Pierre National Grassland which you can camp on and hunt from there. Only problem is....so can others!

RE: New at this

Since you live in Pagosa Springs, 4X4 is a MUST! Mud, snow, wet grass, you will encounter it all so be prepared! When you want to sell the truck, no one will want to buy unless it is 4X4.

RE: Cavalier owners

We have a 5 yr. old tri-color Cavalier and he is a great traveler. We started traveling with him when he was 10 weeks old. He sleeps on the console between us until he hears the engine noise change or feels us slowing, then he looks up to see where we are. When we are home, he only barks at deer and bears, but not at small critters like squirrels, rabbits, etc. When we travel, he barks at deer, bears, and chipmonks until we correct him. Then he just stares at them quietly. He wakes up happy and goes to bed happy and he likes everyone. He is smart, funny and well behaved. He is the best dog we have ever had!

RE: Picking up our first TT on Friday...what to expect?

During the PDI ask any question that comes to mind and LISTEN to the technician! Make lots of notes, and keep them. Don't just watch im perform but do things yourself...like opening and closing the awning. Don't let the technician rush you. Most of all, if the tech was good, give him a nice tip!

RE: Are you a fan of buying at RV Shows?

If you buy a model that is at the show, you can be assured that 5,000 people have walked on the new carpet, spilled drinks and crumbs, and let 2,000 kids bounce on YOUR new mattress.

RE: Highway 50 - Nevada - Place to overnight?

East of Austin is a small USFS CG with about 8-9 spaces. I think it is Bob Scott CG. We ate lunch there but did not spend the night. There were only a couple of spaces that we could have used, but it is in the "middle" of Nevada.

RE: Colorado Dude Ranch

We have been to five different Guest Ranches and enjoyed all but one. Make sure the emphasis is on what YOU want and you will enjoy them. Some only have 20-25 guests a week; others maybe 75-80. Do you like fishing, riding, hiking, photography, square dancing, or relaxing? Check out the menus and make sure you are comfortable with the style of food (delicious hearty meals or fru-fru stuff). Will you be "stuck" there or are there other places to visit while there? Lots of factors to consider. Cost is not always indicative of "value". Our favorite was a small, family-run ranch that was inexpensive but had nice clean cabins, great horses, good fishing, and good homestyle cooking. They also had adults only weeks....therefore NO crying kids.

RE: Coming to Colorado for the Color???

I came home today after a week in Redstone area. In that week, they have started big-time in some areas, but not in all areas. Vail to Dillon was best. I would say from about the 21st they will be great all over central Colorado. Southern Colorado would be a few days later.

RE: Custer SP/Blue Bell & Stockade Lake South

You mentioned camping in bear country while in Colorado. The Black Hills do not have bears, BUT they do have a lot of cougars. It's a different sort of concern than bears, as the cougars don't want your groceries; they want your small dogs. We have never had a problem in the B.H. and I know you will enjoy it!

RE: Colorado State Parks

You are not very articulate in your comments, but your complaints seem rather trivial to me. I would like to hear what REALLY happened to make you upset!

RE: Mild Rant. Don't Any of You Take care of your RV?

I don't understand why anyone is surprised at the filthy and neglected RVs. Just look at how PEOPLE neglect themselves, with shaggy, dirty hair, nasty unkept beards, and wearing clothing with holes in them! Look at their trashy yards and homes. How could you expect the RV to be any better than the house?

RE: Colorado or Tenn campground advice wanted.

MOST of the USFS cgs will be closed by the middle of September. A few without water in the cgs may still be open for hunters. You will be pretty much limited to private RV parks or a few State Parks that will be a lower elevations.
