RE: Okeechobee Florida

If you like to bike and like the outdoors, check out Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. It is 30 miles NW of Okeechobe proper. Great quiet park with lots of wildlife and great view of the stars. If you stop in tell Natalie (in the office) that "the other Jon and Judy" said hello. Link And you can't beat the price! PM me if you want more info/

RE: Does This Sound Crazy... Water Softener

We have an item similar to the 'water stick' and it works well. However, it is a bear to handle - we have a big one (4" diameter by 28" long). Our current unit has a built in filter and this plus one of those inexpensive throw-away jobs from Wally-World do the trick most of the time for us.

RE: Creating a blog

X3 on Blogger. Have been using it for several years now. I usually 'write and edit' the text in MS Word and then copy/paste it into the blog. This allows me to have a 'hardcopy' later. I usually put lots of pictures too. Our Blog.

RE: Why can't I view Blogger in Internet Explorer

I use MS Word to write tour blog and it copies into Google's Blogspot with out all that garbage.

RE: Writing a Blog?

I have been using Google's blog app for several years. I usually write the blog and pictures using MS Word (or something similar). I then copy and paste the narrative to the blog and add the pictures. This way I have a 'hard copy' I print out to keep in a binder and the on-line version is there for anyone to read. This has worked out well for us over the years. Here is an example: Our Travels

RE: Install Shut off on Hydraulic Slide System

Have had the valve installed for two months now and many openings and closings. Works like a champ. Several times it has been so nice to move in the main slide without having the bedroom move all the way in.

RE: Charlotte NC

If you are not looking for lots of amenities - just a FHU site check out Ver EL RV across from the track. If there are no race activites very very inexpensive and a nice location. PM me if you want the phone number. Nice folks.

RE: Kitchen Sink Drains

Went to Lowes this afternoon and picked up new drain baskets for both sides of the sink. Fairly easy repair/mod and now the drain edges are flush with the sink - no more standing water.

RE: Free Kindle book

Just downloaded it to my iPad for evening reading.

RE: Kitchen Sink Drains

Did a close inspection (removed the drain basket) and just as noted, the rubber gasket was between the top of the sink and the basket - not on the bottom as should it should be. It also looks like the stubs to the sink are a might to high, but I'll deal with that some how. Going to make a trip to a big box store to get some plumbers putty and maybe even new basket drains. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Will let you all know and thanks everyone for the leads and ideas.

Kitchen Sink Drains

Have discovered an issue in our 28RKSB kitchen sink drains. We were finding standing water in both sinks and on investigation found that the trim rings on the drains were actually 1/8th inch above the level of the sink. Tried to tighten them down but to no avail. Anyone had a similar problem and if so how did you solve the issue. I know that drains from the 'big box' stores or normal plumbing shops will not work as the sinks in an RV are much thinner. Any help will be appreciated.

RE: Florida in 2 weeks

On the road tomorrow morning. Have to spend a week near Charlotte, NC looking out for the grandkids and then on to near Tampa. Will finish putting everything but stuff that freezes in the RV this afternoon (supposed to drop to 12 overnight).

RE: First Gig at State Park-Questions

Florida is pretty goos to their volunteers. What your duties will be will depend on your volunteer status - campground host or maintenance or staff/office help. Generally you will have a T-shirt and some parks require black pants or shorts, i all depends on the park management and what you will be doing. We've had a few years in FL parks but are taking a break this year. Wondering how you managed to get into C-S and when you will be there.

RE: Install Shut off on Hydraulic Slide System

Sorry, don't have a link. Went to a local a shop that deals in hydraulics and they ordered a 1/4 ball valve capable of withstanding 2000lbs PSI. I had to also get fittings to match from the valve to the male end of the "T" on the pump and to the female end of the hose.

The LCI valve setup was $203!

RE: Install Shut off on Hydraulic Slide System

Installed the shutoff on the bedroom slide. A single valve on the 'extend' side (black line). This allows me to open just the main slide while keeping the bedroom closed. The only times we really need to shut off the bedroom is when parked at home. Total cost was only about $40 - the valve was not cheap - and it took less than 10 minutes to do the job.

RE: Guadalupe River State Park

Know the park well as we volunteered there in the past. Lots of trails to hike and the river views are great.

RE: Tie down or secure a swivel recliner rocker

Figured it all out. Have constructed two 'wedges' to keep the chair from rocking. One at the rear and one at the front. By putting the larger wedge under the rear it moves the chair forward into the front wedge. It is now rock solid and no need to put anything into the floor.

RE: 50 amp to 30 amp help

Robin1953, this is just what I made up on my own - and for a lot less that the $110 listed.
