RE: Need MH storage in Sedona or Cottonwood AZ

If you happen to be an Elks member or want to join the Sedona lodge, they have about a dozen storage parking spaces for RVs. I don't know the cost.

RE: Arizona MH registration

Just renewed the registration on my '02 coach a couple months ago. It cost about $300, most of which is personal property tax. No sales tax to register. Of course, your motorhome is likely valued higher than mine.

Grants Pass to Bandon, OR

What is the best route, i.e. no white knuckles? As in signature, I have a 33' motorhome with tow car.

RE: From Kingman, Az to Las Vegas over Hoover Dam ??

Look at Hoover Dam on Google maps, satellite view. You'll see the new bypass bridge is part of Hwy 93. I'll be going across it for the first time in July. Last time I went across the dam, they were in the middle of building the bridge. It was an awesome site to see the half-way built bridge from the dam.

RE: woman travelling alone

I keep a mallet or axe inside by the door. Take your cell phone to bed in case you want to call 911. I met a woman at a campground who I'm now good friends with. She had a sign in her window "Beware of Dog" even though she had no dog. Another woman came to visit me once who traveled with a blow-up doll in the passenger seat. Just some common sense or creative things to help deter unwanted visitors (like the boots outside your door).
No reason not to come on down to the U.S., plenty of Canadians RVers here.
You go girl! Live your dream!

RE: RV Storage in Arizona

I think Lake Havasu and Yuma are the two hottest places in AZ in the summer. So I wouldn't choose those two towns. There's no question that the AZ summer heat will do damage as mentioned....fading of graphics, drying out of plastics, etc. In an RV I used to own, the little rubber bumpers on the inside of the cabinet doors melted and dripped onto whatever was beneath them. I would not leave any canned goods, or anything that could melt or explode in such extreme heat.
Perhaps look into Flagstaff, as it is at higher elevation and much cooler (as in less hot). Or there is a facility or two in Cottonwood, hotter than Flagstaff but better than Lake Havasu.

RE: leveling and slide out

My manual says the same. Level first, then run the slides out. Run the slides in before retracting the jacks.

RE: Sedona, AZ to Prospect, OR (sw of Crater Lake)

Thanks for the thread link, paulj!
cpaulsen, I will be going to Crater Lake in my toad. I've been to Prospect and Crater Lake from I-5 many years ago. Thank you for letting me know that either 62 or 140 will work.

RE: Las Vegas to Denver via I-70 any tips on roads

Just noticed you are new to the forum. Welcome!
All the roads in the SW quadrant of Colorado are very scenic. From Denver, you could also go south to Pueblo, then take Hwy 50 across. See Royal Gorge and Black Canyon of the Gunnison Nat'l Park on this route. But coming back on I-70 is by far the least amount of miles.

Sedona, AZ to Prospect, OR (sw of Crater Lake)

I'm trying to map out our summer route. Leaving early July, no time constraints. Would like to spend a few days in the Lee Vining, CA area on the way to Prospect. Then will be going to Oregon Coast after Prospect. I have several questions.
1. Considering going up 95 in western NV or 395 in CA. I imagine both will be very hot. Any advantage of one over the other?
2. If I take 95....a few questions. Is there any place to pull over by Hoover Dam to check out the view now that the bypass bridge is there? Is 93/95 going through Las Vegas a freeway or should I go around the west side of LV on 215? Shall I take 95 all the way north to Hwy 6 (Tonopah) then go west, or should I cut off 95 at one of the other roads I see on the map, 266/264 or 265, which go up to 6? Once on 6, I go west to 120 west to 395/Lee Vining, right? Just wanting to make sure all these roads are RV friendly (no narrow, steep dropoffs, etc.)
3. After Lee Vining, continuing north on 395 past Susanville to Alturas. Then west on 299 to 139/39 north to Klamath Falls. Again just checking on the RV friendliness of this route.
4. From Klamath Falls, does it make most sense to take Hwy 62 across to Prospect? Is all of 62 RV friendly? Or is there any more preferred route that goes across to I-5 to come into Prospect from the south?
I sure appreciate everybody's input. It helps me feel so much more comfortable driving the RV!

RE: Las Vegas to Denver via I-70 any tips on roads

If you want to stay at a nice State Park with hookups, check out James M Robb State Park in Fruita, CO (west side of Grand Junction). Then visit Colorado Nat'l Monument from there.
If you come back to Moab via I-70, drive on scenic Hwy 128 along the Colorado River down to Hwy 191, instead of turning off I-70 at Hwy 191.
If by 87 you mean I-25, that is a fine drive. 160 is a pretty drive and totally doable. Just be aware of Wolf Creek Pass. Road is very good, long climb, then just gear down on descent. I've never been on 491.

RE: Nor Cal to Flagstaff, AZ

I have friends that take Hwy 95 in NV every year between WA and AZ. They've tried all the different routes and it is their preferred route. Ditto TexasShadow that Hwy 58 is fine too. Just note you will go over Tehachapi pass, but no problem there.
I'd look at RVParkReviews.com for Flagstaff. If you don't need hookups and you don't mind driving about 15 miles off I-40, I recommend Bonito Campground at Sunset Crater Nat'l Monument. Or closer in w/o hookups is Fort Tuthill County Park. I've never stayed at any of the private campgrounds in Flagstaff.

RE: hydrolic leveling jacks

We had that problem once when we were getting ready to leave an RV park. Got some help from some nice people in the park. Unscrewed the control panel on the dash to look behind it, but everything looked good. Finally one of them found a loose wire under the hood. Had to lay down on the ground under the motorhome to see it.
We had driven on a bumpy dirt road to a campground the day before going to this RV park, so we figured that's when the wire got loose.

RE: Fridge Drip Tray Freezes up

Same thing happens to mine. I just check it every few days and break up the ice blocking the drain hole, and throw the ice chunks in the sink. The situation has improved some, but not completely, by turning the frig temp number down as low as possible (actually meaning the frig temp is as warm as possible) while still keeping food cold/freezer frozen.
I think it may have to do with air getting in while opening the door so many times throughout the day. I was away for a couple weeks and had someone checking it. She said ice didn't form while I was away.
However, I don't recall this happening on any other motorhome I've owned.
