RE: Hwy. 50 from MD to CA ??

50 goes right through the middle of Washington DC...not going to be much fun in an RV. I suggest you do that part of the trip on early on a weekend or in the middle of the night.

RE: Snow Leopard

I installed in on 3 Macs. On "my" MacBook Pro it had no problems. On my old Mini, the movie widget stayed on screen no matter if Dashboard was active. Disabled the widget and it went away. On my kids old white MacBook I had to tell it where the wireless printer was...the MBP found it.
I like all the little upgrades...my fav is showing Stacks as folders once again (I hate Stacks).

RE: Need a dry-camp spot near Tilghman Island/St Michaels, Md.

There's a Walmart in nearby Easton...you could call and ask them if you could stay there.

RE: Zune

My only caveat with the IPod is that you have to go to ITunes to load your stuff. I prefer to do all my loading in-house.
Thanx SW
Not true...there are many 3rd party apps that can control your iPod in lieu of iTunes, a lot of them are free.
Here's an article about some of them: iTunes Alternatives.

RE: Whats the best way around Ft McHenry Tunnel in MD?

Take the Baltimore beltway south (695) over the Ft. McHenry bridge.

RE: Edmonton, AB south thru Canadian Rockies -roads to avoid?

I've driven the Ice Fields Parkway between Jasper and lake Louise...HIGHLY recommended!
When are you traveling? That makes a a big difference. We were there in June and one (smaller) road we drove on opened while we were there. The highways can close for a day or two after a big snow storm up there.

RE: Safari and iTunes - are they so huge on Mac?

When I used Safari, I used Pith Helmet to block ads. It worked, but not nearly as well or as easlily as Adblock for Firefox. That's one of the main reasons I use FF now on Mac and PC.
Pith Helmet was always a bit of a nuisance. Maybe it's better now.
EDIT: Here's the link:Pith Helmet.
Looks like it's not compatible w/ Safari 4.

RE: RV on I-295 Baltimore-Washington Parkway?

Aye, 295 through DC would not be much fun in an RV. Stick to the Beltway.

RE: Baltimore area attractions

I'd stay away from Baltimore...DC is much nicer, there is more to see, and most of it is free. Annapolis is nice to for a day...'bout 30 minutes south.
There has been a lot in the local news around here recently about attacks in the touristy Inner Harbor area of Baltimore. Seems the locals get a kick out of beating up non-locals.

RE: Computers, Maps, and making my own trip route

I have a Garmin 850. The included software, in theory, will do all that you want. In practice, however, I think the software sucks: unintuitive and with a clunky user interface. I've spent a LOT of time planning out a route with the Garmin software on my computer. IMO, it's not worth the time and energy required.
What I've settled on doing is finding where I want to end up on Google Maps and sending that as a waypoint to the Garmin. Then, tell the Garmin to navigate to that waypoint and I'm done.

RE: Headed to Cherry Hill this saturday

Head out to Great Falls National Park in Virginia for a picnic. The upper Potomac is quite scenic with large falls. You'll find mostly locals there.

RE: I need help with my Mac

I lost the HD in my Macbook. Got the ? in a folder on boot. The HD's in Macs are no different than any other computer brand.
Buy a new drive and install it (it's easy). Then, do a Time Machine backup and your computer will be just like you had it.

RE: Baltimore Warning

Baltimore is a dump...best to avoid the city anyway.
To bad that you can't see the interesting things to do there that make it a great place to visit. We lived in Maryland until a couple of years back and there and spent a lot of time downtown. Neat places to see include: The Americian Visionary Museum, The National Aquarium, The B&O Museum, Fort McHenry and eating crab cakes at Faidely's in the Lexington Market. Not to mention a Orioles game.
Just because there is some crime, just like every other city, not just in the US, is no reason to miss out on opportunites to learn and experience more then remaining secluded in a safe little haven. Be careful just as you should be in any city and enjoy.
I know Baltimore pretty well: my wife and I graduated from Univ. of Maryland, Baltimore. I worked at Johns Hopkins for a couple of years, and both my kids were born in the city.
It's a dump, much more so than most American cities.

RE: Movie Site Question

If it was easy, then there would be massive amounts of bootleg movies.
It is that easy, and there are massive amounts of bootleg movies out there.

RE: Movie Site Question

Hmmm, free and legal are two words rarely heard together when it comes to online video or audio. For legal, iTunes has plenty of movies you can either rent or buy.
Free, well, there are lots of sites out there to do that, but I'm afraid the mods won't care for a discussion about them!

RE: Music downloads

Limewire is great, but it should be considered a Mac- or Linux-only application. Using Limewire on a Windows machine is asking for trouble.
