Do Canadian Walmarts accept US Drug plans

We're down to less than three weeks before we leave and will be spending about 10 days in Canada going and coming. With 3 people on board some of our prescritions will run out during those times. Walmart will be the most convenient place to get refils. Can those who have traveled through Canada tell me if there are any issues getting px's filled?

RE: Diesel Travel Plazas on interstates?

I am beginning to like the big rig lanes, even with the hassle of going in to run my credit card before I pump-
You can get a Pilot/Flying J credit card that can be used at the pumps and get a small 4 or 5 cent discount, it's part of the Camping World/Good Sam package. Ditto the Flying J and Loves apps on smart phones as well POI on Garmins. When I had the gasser I used Google maps street level view to make sure the gas islands were parallel to the street and not perpendicular. Now that I have the diesel, the truck stops offer easy access to pumps, no height considerations and for the most part easy off and on access to interstates. Now when we stop for the night and unhook, I use Gas Buddy to seek out the lower price away from the interestates and getting in and out is not an issue.

RE: Who drives a F-350 as their sole vehicle and likes it?

I only use my 3500 truck to tow. With expensive fuel and low mileage I wouldn't have it without the fiver. My in town vehicle is a 2000 Camry. You might look to see if you can get a good "beaater" with better gas mileage and low taxes and insurance to get you back and forth to work.

Clothes Hangers

Probably one of the more unusual threads, but I have searched most all of the online sources I can think of. My clothes closet is at the very end if the fifth wheel where the most whip occurs( once I laid my laptop on the bed and was flipped over when we stopped)and most of the time after a ride on bumpy roads, my clothes hangers have bounced up off the bar and are lying on the bottom. Does anyone know of a more secure way to keep clothes haning, be it a different hanger or a different device to hang them on?

RE: RV Wholesale vs local dealer

Ok here is my story. I bought not from RVW but another online vendor. They delivered my unit to my front door for $4800 less than what the lowest closet dealer offered and I would have had to pay the cost for the 200 mile trip to get it. It was on ordered model so all he had to do was order it, prep it and call me to come and get it, but would not come down, so he decided he would rather make no money than a little money. As for local service. If the "saleman" feeds you the line that he won't service what he doesn't sell, leave and come back later or call the head of the service department. In any fair sized RV dealership, the Service center is a seperate profit center fom sales profit center and the service manager is not going to leave bays empty because you didn't buy it there. (if he does refuse, he probably won't be in business very long turning away business anyway) Since most unit have common components, many local dealers who are not your manufactuer certified for warranty work are certified and can do waranty work on the componets. Ex: my fridge and electric awning went out, both were Dometic. Since my local Jayco dealer was certified for dometic he was able to do the warranty work on those items. I work with him on times. Right now my unit has been at his place since Wed for a simple state inspection and bearing check.... but I told him I wasn't in a rush because it can sit there or sit in my back yard. Now he knows he has a "filler" job at his convience. Also on the revese side when the fidge went out and I needed it in 4 days, he rushed the process and got it done. I've also found that on warranty work,a small tip to the tech extends the relationship even futher. To all who are pondering this same issue I urge you to talk to the local service guys, cultivate a relationship and enjoy your savings from an online dealer. Oh and one other item the warranty is not a model warranty but a manufacturer warranty. EX: There may not be a Cougar dealer close by, but there may be a Laredo dealer. Since both are made by Keystone and it's a Keystone warranty the Laredo dealer should be able to do the warranty work.

RE: Getting my new AC up on top of my 5'ver

Here's how I did it.
Cost 16 bucks to rent a utilty lift for half a day.
Add to that two strong friends and their beverage of choice and it should work out fine.

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

We purchased blackout curtains for the bay window in the back from Walmart (suppose to block 99% of sun). For the other bedroom windows I cut cardboard to fit inside the frame and then glued cheap car windshield reflectors to the cardboard and trimed. When not neeeded to block out light they pop out quickly and also act as a sun reflector. All this worked quite nicely the month we spent in Fla. this year.

Front Legs hard to do final retract

After the front legs have been retracted as far as the motor will take them, it is difficult to release the pin with one hand and slide them up the rest of the way with the other. I have JT's on them but they seem to slide up and down with no resistance. The back legs move up with very little effort. Has anyone used a lubricant on the legs so they slide more easily into the tube?

It cost more but we had a custom made matteress for a bunk. If you can't find a standard one that will fit, go talk to any of the numerous mattress stores.

RE: Towing Resistance

Drag cubes as speed squares, so it's a huge factor. I would love to see a bed cover made with a skirt around the hitch and see how that affects mileage.
As I drove up the interstate yesterday, I noticed almost every 18 wheeler has a deflector. These were not the old style additions but most all were built into the body of the tractor. Past discussions have said that these were marginal as to saving fuel. Given how many miles the truck drives, I'm guessing that over the life of the tractor and the miles driven, the deflectors will eventually pay for themselves. I'm not sure the RV manufacturers are going to pour a lot of research money into the aerodynamics of what they are building and even if they did, would the cost benefit be enough for the average RV'er to pay for.

Locked and Loaded

I've read threads where the jaws did not lock and the trailer came down on the bed. I added bright tape to the jaws just to make it even easier to see. When I hook up I can see the arm move back into the locking position and the jaws close around it. My question is, if the jaws are locked in this position and the pin is locked into the swing arm, has anyone had the pin box pull out of the hitch jaws? I've hooked up over 50 times with no issues but reading some threads it makes me wonder.

RE: Must haves in a FW

I'm on my first fifth wheel and the 4 point leveling system is GREAT!!
If I ever buy another fifth wheel that will be a must have. Once I get it in the spot, just drop the legs, press a button and move on to hooking hoses, power cords and the rest of the stuff and it's done by the time I finish.

RE: What is the reading on this propane gas tank

It looks like there should be a cover over the red and green dial. The cover will have a opened section that would make correct coler only show through. If the tank that the pointer is going to is empty it would be red, you would tnen rotate the pointer to the full tank and it would be green
This is the winning answer. Another responder suggested I look at my paperwork, so this morning I dug through all three inches of my paper work and found out who the manufacturer was. I found a picture of what it is suppose to look like. Apparently at some point the crystal broke of taking the dark cover portion with it leaving only the dial portion.

This is what it should have looked like. Thanks to all that responded.

What is the reading on this propane gas tank

Heading south in two weeks and I getting the fifth wheel ready. In the fall I shut off the the valves on the propane tanks and didn't pay much attention to what the sight glass dial looked like. I currently have one full tank and a partial in the other and this is what the sight dial looks like. I've looked all over the place to see how it is suppose to look but could not find any. Can anyone advise what this dial is suppose to look at or is this the way it looks? http://i45.tinypic.com/14wf5ah.jpg

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

There has been discussions about proof of insurance when going into Canada. For what it is worth, I requested proof of insurance from both companies for TV and Trailer. Today I received from Progressive and Peerless Insurace a "Canadian NON RESIDENT Inter Province Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Card". Maybe I will need them and maybe not, but they are a lot smaller than bringing the policies along.

RE: Alaska-Cruise vs Driving

We did the cruise tour and found that it was just a good sampler. You move at the crusie's pace and go pretty much where they want you to go (your choice of excursions excluded of course). This time we are going back for over 65 days and do the multitude of things we could not do in 7 days on land. For some like the people who went with us, the cruise tour was all of Alaska they cared to see. For us we could see there was a ton of things we didn't see. Since this is your "once in a lifetime trip", I think the cruise/tour would leave you wanting more.....it certainly did for us.

RE: More fuel efficient tow vehicle

I just renewed my my trailer insurance with a broker that also carries my auto insurance. He wanted to know which vehicle I would be towing with.....the Camry, Honda CRV or the Sierra.

Gutter or Topper Rail?

Over each of my slides on my fifth wheel there are what looks like gutters with downspouts on each end. They don't appear to provide any useful function based on their location for water removal. I've been looking at how to install slide toppers and was wondering if these are indeed preinstalled topper rails. Anyone have any ideas?

On my last trip I found that Velcro strips became my new duct tape. Now it is part of my tool chest.
