RE: Storage in small bunkhouse & rear slide TTs

Saw a picture once where this guy with a very small trailer, where he suspended a sack type (open top, closed three sides) fishing net from the two opposite ends to the wall. This is where he put his folded clothes in.

RE: New RVer......again.

Got a question ~~~~When the wife and I are traveling to our destination,, or when allready there. At nights we watch some TV or read to relax and recharge before going to bed. In many trailers that have this same floorplan the TV is to the right of the seating area,,,90 degree to ether side many, many times. I have set in this aragement several times before, and it is not a plan I would pick, Or to put it another way it is a pain in the neck,,
Then in your case since you like this design it so much, then how and where do the two of you set in that small slide out U shape setting area, while trying to relax and watch that TV ???

RE: Portable Gray Water Tote

I read a poster here that said,"I like camping at the state campgrounds, Ya know those are the ones with the trees.", and i might add more space also. For that reason I too am thinking on buying one of these also. There would not be to much of a streatch to figure out a clamping system to keep it attached to the ball of the hitch.

RE: 30 amp meter

Hi Guys,
Jerry9n,
Isn't one of the sides of that Kill A watt a wide range voltage meter ? With a 120V, wall male plug already attached ? I know how to use a multi meter, have several. But I guess my original attention was to look for some thing fairly simple, and in a bundle. Just pull the whole she bank out and plug in. That is why digital was also so appealing. Plus,,a big plus, that this same digital Kill A watt can be removed to be pluged in a place just inside my door at a place I can see almost all of the time,, as sugessted. That appeales to be, kind'a of a two'fer
westend,
I was the poster several months ago, that suggest in your re-build, to build your self a platform to raise that toilet to a decient height while you had everything right there in front of you.
But also now back to the idea of starting out there at the post with a level playing field.. IE; some where in the green zone on what RoyB's meter showed above. In your second paragraph is exactly what I,,,,think,,,,I was doing. Now if with in that electrical circuit something has accrued from me standing there ether with a go or no question at that post. Sure a meter is a valuable eliminating factor, and that is what you are doing when you are trouble shooting any electrical circuit problem. It is similar to the man who set out looking & tearing threw out his house for something he has missed placed,,,,It was there in the last place I look, all along.
No malice or cynicism intended here at all fellows. Thanks again for your thoughts, but again, I am just trying to find the easiest but also not over looking the best way, to be assured pulling into that site I picked. A **blank** good and informative post for me, that's for sure. Glad I ask. Thanks,,,,,,,,,,John

RE: 30 amp meter

ok, I had to laugh because you guys pegged me to a tee. I have been caught several times in my life being ether not being able or not wanting to spend the money on the top of the line for all kinds of products. It has circled back to bite me to many, many times,,,,but I still find myself in the same grove, e'vn here in this surge protector quandary. In my defence though,,,,,,, a couple of you'all might be 100% right, but I have come to the conclusion at my senior age, because it works for me that does not necessary mean it/that will work for every one. So as the song goes, "Before your criticizes and abuse, walk a mile in my shoes".
Here was my reasoning,,,,I looked at both kinds and all of there various degrees of protection I will admit after reading many post here on the above search feature, I decided on what the Progressive Industries offered. Now going down the list and reading how often some have been glad they bought theirs, I decided I had better jump on to something. But you know more than $150.00 savings sure is appealing. So I call and talked to them at Progressive industries. Great people there by the way !!!! Great people.
On this unit I ended up buying, I get a run threw ,with a series of LED light, for faulty wiring there at the post. A separate red LED light that tells me if it has been fried some time ago, and now it does not work, a <1NS shut off if there is a voltage surge, and if it is fried it now carries a Life time warranty simply send it back for a repair and a guarantee it will work when I get it ,,,from then on.,,,,
BUT now here is the rub,,,If I plug it in and there is already a high/low voltage right there then, the unit will use that as the/its bench mark, to go from there on, and judge any MORE sudden voltage surge from that measurement. So in my way of thinking I thought ..there had to be a simple way of before plugging this SSP-30 in, to do its thing. To check on what that post is reading to began with. And like the sang says, "Who are you going to call,,,," well not the Ghost Busters ,,,,but ask here at RV.net
All academics please reply, as I am not so proud that I can not learn,
But thanks for those guys who did take their time to gave me advice both positive, and negativity replies THANK YOU. I did check on the Kill a Watt and due to its wide and instantly easily read out range in a digital read out, I think that part would be better,,,so if'n it covers all of the bases that's the one,,,,,

Ok the low & high voltage there at the post could impare every thing. I was thinking there at the first that with a plug in meter to a 30 amp plug I would have an idea there at the start.

RE: They will steal anything

I sure hope that a couple of the fellows over at the Jayco form is tuned in. There was a couple there that said that they did not see any reason to be worried about a Surge Protector being taken. Never heard of such a thing.

RE: Our new Passport 23RB

There are several thing I like about this trailer, having owned several. 1.; when you are sitting in that sofa you are looking straight ahead at that TV. Have you ever noticed how many trailer plains have that TV 90 degree to the sofa and the dinette. 2.; It has a shower, BUT not only that the handles are in the far corner. Now again....have you ever noticed in almost all they put those handles to one side ? That leaves most of that space in these showers lost !!! Third no carpeting. There are quality rubber backed throw rugs available out there that you can take out and dust off. When they get soiled to look bad you throw them away. Not so with the cheaper grades that TT company's put on the floors to look great only when new. 3.Counter top & space. 4. High arch faucet. 5. Two pass threw storage. 6. The grill does not fasten to the side of the TT with all of that encompasses. 7. front rock guard. 8. Tented glass. 9. Lots storage.
You will want; 1. power front jack. 2. Clothes shoot to storage space below. 3. Cup holders in the arms of sofa. Where are you to set your drinks ? 4. Food trays. 5.Towel racks in bathroom ? 6.Toilet paper holder ? 7.Tooth brush, cup, soap holder.

RE: Master Lock the better of those available?

Be for warned that some of these lock are made in a country where the keys of that country, are grooved opposite from the US and 99 % of the lock smiths does not carry that blank. Getting a replacement spare is just about imposable.
This site will not let me post a copy of the type of lock we have, but it is the type that is gold in color, fits behind the locking latch in that hole in the pin hole and is surrounded bu thicker steel. Turning the key tightens the concealed screw threads until snug.

RE: Switching a surge pro. around.

Hello again SCClockDr,Thanks for the continueing info.,,,
At this year around site for our Sunnybrook, I would simply un-plug it from the pedistle when leaving in the Jayco and re-store the line in the compartment. I would have to be at that very same spot anyways to make the switch since this is where it would stay 90% of its life.
Second, if I was to protect both, by buying both, the portable S.Guard would be 30~$191.25,,50~$262.25....Progressive's portables 30~$225.19,50~$351.75.
By having to buy both, somewhere in that combination is quite a savings with just a little amount of for handed effort. Provided I installed it to begain with, to where I could have easy access to both.
I would still like to find out why it would be necessary to install a Hughes Autoformer ? This is puzzling me.

RE: Switching a surge pro. around.

Ok, Thanks guys for taking your time to give me your solutions !!!
fj12ryder-I don't know why just in my area, but these $250-$330 items are walking off. If there is a rash of deep cycle battery's & their containers wires being cut, and disappearing. What would keep such mind sets, that look as this as simply an opportunity and a guift, from simply unplugging one of these.
Now one time aways back there at a gauge sale I bought a 25' RV extension for a great price. I had considered a portable inside the RV compartment then using this to go to pedestal. Easy enougf. With what length, that is already in ether RV's, how much of a voltage drop, even though the wires gages are huge, would be by adding another 25' on to that ????
Now what a Autoformer does, I had to look that one up. Why would I want to add this in an addition on to a surge, portable of hardwired ?? I am missing something here.
SCClockDr ~~The Sunny isn't protected now, but I get this felling I have been lucky so far. That's why buying a 50 amp for it, then unplugging it and using that for a 30amp when traveling in the Jayco using a 50 amp plug with a 50/30 adapter. When home again back to a 50 for the Sunny.
Airstreamer67 ~ I am assuming you got one of those, once inserted, twist to locking power plugs for your portable. This is basically what I tried to described above, Only never considered a portable, got locked into a mind set of a hard wired, Hummmm ?.
Well ,,,,what I ask for, and got, was other's set of ideas for my case. I have read & re-read them all,,,more though. Thank you'all again,,John
