RE: Direction by Coin

We have a Passport America book (and online), a COE for all states book, a State park book and a Woodalls. Our plans are usually to the next campground (or sometimes, the next Walmart).

RE: Laptop computer

Basically, windows is windows. Some changes to get used to, but most everything is pretty much the same. Things may look a bit different, but e-mail is still about the same, and web surfing is easier and lots faster. A $500 laptop from Walmart is 100 times the machine you have now. Look for one with a full size keyboard, including the number pad. I find that the keyboard is more comfortable if you place something under to laptop to tilt the keyboard a bit. If you are using e-mail such as Yahoo or Gmail, it will be the same as you have now, just a lot faster.

RE: Upstate NY

At the intersection of 104 and 98, about halfway between Niagara Falls and Rochester, is Tillman's Village Inn. A stop there for the prime rib is well worth the time.

RE: Where does my tv plug in?

Follow the wires. Looks inside a closet or cabinet close by. Best thing on that young a model is to call Thor in Elkhart and ask. Call the service department, they will have a complete set of plans and wiring. I always foud them nice and easy to work with.

RE: Considering an RV Garage

When we considered building one for our small class A, the response from everyone was why spend money to cover something that should not be there?? Use the money to buy gas, and go! So we did.

RE: "Corps of Engineers" Camgrounds? What's that?

Sewer hookups are missing at many COE campgrounds, especially those on waterfront parks. In many cases, the low-lying land prohibits sewer lines and tanks. Also, many campsites flood regularly, which really messes up sewage systems. Many have limited systems with pumps to serve the bath houses, and maybe a close-by host site.

RE: "Corps of Engineers" Camgrounds? What's that?

Don't get started on COE management. Could go on for days, and is a great way to get the thread deleted. In most cases, the campgrounds are really great, and a great value. Depends on how hard the local VOLUNTEERS work, and their dedication to keeping a good campground. Rangers all have locked handcuffs on their hands and feet.

RE: First Trip - Memphis & Nashville: how to split the time

The good thing about a visit to Dickle is a chance to see the extremes in whisky making. Daniels is a BIG, major commercial distillery, producing millions of gallons each year. Dickle is old style, slow and easy, like the product.

RE: Delete new programs ?

If you really do have updates or big things to download, find a free wifi spot nearby and use that. Last time I was out, I needed some big updates, so there was a little cafe nearby that had free wifi, but did require a password from the cafe. getting that, I used one of their booths, and had a nice breakfast and several cups of coffee while downloading and installing the updates. However, as others will tell you, avoid some of the really "Open" wifi places. For me, a good place to work is a public library. Most have internet access available now, and are resonably safe to use. Their networks usually have some type of protection built in.

RE: First Trip - Memphis & Nashville: how to split the time

If you went through the area and only visited Jack Daniels, you missed the whole point. To really see Tennessee Sipping Whisky, George Dickle is the only place(and the only thing to drink). Look here.

RE: What the heck is this

OK, go ahead and use silicone. Its your RV. Lowes probably doesn't have Dicor anyway. If no RV place near, order over the internet and have it delivered. The reason the white junk is sticking so well is because its probably Dicor, not silicone.

RE: 12 Volt Outlets

Actually, there are 3 12v breakers from battery. I connected to breaker, 12ga to 15A fuse, 12ga to outlet. Protected by both breaker and fuse.

RE: 12 Volt Outlets

Installed a 12V power outlet, NOT a cheap "12v outlet". Installed on 12Ga wire, fused to main coach power circuit breaker. Use it for 400W inverter to power computer, Printer, phone charger, Nook charger, and just about anything I need. It is on a 15A fuse.

RE: Backup monitor location?

Depends a lot on how your dash and overhead are set up. Mine is overhead, and does not get a lot of glare from sunlight. Try not to block any of your vision field, but where you can see it without taking your eyes too far from the road.

RE: digital tv reception

Had the same type problem on our 2005 Gulfstream. Could pick up only a few close channels on the antenna, and those were flakey. Thinking that the antenna may have gone bad as the MH had been cooked in the sun before we got it. Checked all cables and connections, everything was good. I replaced the antenna head with a new WG Sensar IV with Wingman. Results were fantastic!! Signal as indicated by TV is doubled, and lots of channels just about everywhere that signals are available! Cost about $125 including installation. If you are able, installation is an easy DIY job for 15 min or less.
