RE: Help deciding on internet buy

After trying to strike a deal with the local dealer (whom we bought from last time) we went home and did some research. We got a price from the internet and to make a long story short the local matched it plus what the transport fee would have been. Saved me big bucks and don't have to worry about warranty work.

Frio River RV Park

Has anyone ever used Frio River RV near Concan, TX? It seems to be a new park with 14 sites.

RE: WDH Movement in Receiver

I get the usual 'clunking' sound when un-hitched and I leave the hitch head in and it wobbles around the reciever. I have had pieces of plastic shim from the big box store that I wedge in there to alleviate this.

RE: First Trip.....FIRE

Because I am an Emergency Management Coordinator I have to ask. Did you do an After Action Review? Basically talk about what you did right and what you did wrong when trying to get the heck outta Dodge? I think it may surprise many what the kids think on this subject, and thier view. Consider it a drill and learn from it. You did a very nice narrative of the scene. Reading it made me feel like I was there.

RE: Two trailers, one truck???

Personally I've never seen it in the NW... So you have to unhook one to be able to back up? Yep...no backing up

RE: Keystone spread axles

My 28 RL Passport tows very well, no complaints at all. I do agree I'd rather have the 15" rims to allow greater choice in tires. I'd like to go to LT tires when the OEM's wear out more. Just got back from a 4K mile trip and had absolutely no issues with towing with our Duramax 3500. I see no excess wear due to the spaced axles so far in over 6K+ miles towing. Same here. It tows great and I have not had any issues due to the spread axles.

RE: Two trailers, one truck???

I have been thinking about this for sometime now. The only thing holding me back is price. About $300 for a hitch to be fabricated and another $300 for a good wireless camera to watch whats going on. I would hate to not have a camera and the waverunner trailer have a blow out.

RE: buying an 33' aerolite TT

My honest opinion is that if you were staying in S/E Texas on the flat land not over 5500 lbs dry weight and watch the tounge weight. If you plan on going to the hill country, get a bigger truck or smaller TT.

RE: First time out, everything went well - but mattress

We too bought the 4 inch topper from Wally world. It actually has 2 inches of foam and 2 inches of memory foam. Had to trim it off, but with advise from here used an electric knife. Wow, did that work great. Went through it like a hot knife through butter. We now sleep better than we do at the S&B bed.

RE: Glad I got to the dump station first

Why does everyone get so upset about a lil poopy coming out a hose? I don't wear gloves, but then I don't touch the insde of the hose. Do you wear gloves when you change a diaper? At 57 years old I remember when CG had 'outhouses', and so did rest stops along the highway. Surely worse than the stinky slinky? Enough said by me...let the good times (or poopy) roll.

RE: Diesel fuel vs Gas

Just heard this morning that due to high supply and low demand that before the 4th of July fuel will be under $3.00/gallon??? Hope so!!

RE: harbor freight LED puck lights

Best mod I have made is to stick a LED puck lite on the inside lid of the ice chest. That way I can see what beverage I am getting out of the ice chest after dark.

RE: AC Upgrade?

Adding a 2nd A/C will more than likely require an upgrade to 50 amp service. You might try a freestanding A/C unit? Although my 15k unit will not shut off when parked in the sun it will keep my TT cooler than 80 degrees.

RE: Electric awning - no adjustment and no tie down

I have the same awning pictured above. I tie it down all the time, the only time I retract it is during predicted high winds. I did the same with my fixed awning. I have never had an issue. Even if I need to retract it in a hurry it's just a matter of loosening the pitch knobs and pulling down gentally until I can unhook the tie downs then push and hold the retract button at the safest moment. Same awning, same thing.

RE: fridge question

My fridge will be at the proper temp in around 5 hours or less. But, when it is hot outside and we are getting into the fridge more often I put it on gas as gas seems to recover quicker.
