RE: Grill that will work with my RV propane output

I am now moving to eliminate the regulator as well. I tried the extended stay hose assembly with the hoses I could not get it to connect to my double tanks and use the existing connections. I would need to buy a longer hose to connect to the one tank. The next is the length of the hose from the tank to the grill would not reach my awning. In Oregon camping in the drizzle I need the grill under the awning. I like the idea Bonefish has. I am working on this. I thought I saw places on some campers that had actual grills for the camper though. I know I have seen them advertised right on the side of the camper with connections for the grill.Mine came with such a grill which I will be more than happy to sell you. But, I don't like having a grill hanging on the side of my TT and it really doesn't have enough space etc.. Consequently I bought the Coleman Roadtrip grill at CW. It does have the regulator built in but I assume it can be removed and replumbed for small $$......in the mean time I have 5 or 6 1-lb bottles which I have no other use for, long story, and will use them up before I convert. I have already fired up the Coleman using the bottles and it worked fine(did not cook just checked the operation). Am leaving next week for a 6 week trip to Grand Canyon and will use up the bottles and then see if I need to replumb on the road...hopefully not a big deal. Bonefish, did you get a quick disconnect fitting at Ace as well as the fittings that go into the grill?

RE: Two strikes on GS ERS

On the other hand, I don't think dotting all the I's and crossing all the T's is asking too much; filling out a complete form for reimbursement is standard. Try not doing that with the IRS or a medical claim and see what you get.... Maybe the places that fill out the forms completely the first time don't feel like thay are jumping through hoops and their claims get processed the first time and don't take months. There's always two sides to every story. My friend told me he has had claims rejected because he put down the time of call as 2PM and AAA recorded it as 2:15PM and they accused him of telling the customer to call AAA. They also turned down a claim because he put the street name, not the highway number although they are one in the same. The road is called Main Street in town(complete with address and road signs) and highway 90 alternate on the map that AAA uses. They made him resubmit the claim with the road name changed to Alternate 90 and it delayed his payment another 90 days. That is what I was referring to by dotting the i's and crossing the t's.Sounds like the typical sloppy clerical work I have come to expect from shops. If it was 2:15 then it was 2:15 not 2, If AAA wants it to say highway 90 it needs to say highway 90. Sorry, but it is the golden rule "he who has the gold makes the rules" get a good clerical person in the shop and get the mechanics, wrecker operators, janitors and owners out of the paperwork business and out of the way, and let that clerical person communicate with AAA. I guarantee the acceptance rate for reimbursement will improve in direct proportion to the reduction in sloppy paperwork. Stop complaining about folks not letting sloppy paper work slip by. Remember, "the job's not over until the paperwork is done". I managed a major construction expansion program at a major international airport. This included approving the payment applications of the general contractors. I could not exaggerate if I tried to the sloppy incomplete requests for payment I received. One example, a request for reimbursement in excess of .5 million dollars for concrete work which contained the the pay item number for sewer work. Yes the verbiage said concrete....but the pay item number said sewer. And oh the moaning and groaning when I disapproved it and sent it back to as you say have the "I's dotted and the T's crossed". It's either correct or it's incorrect. There is no third way. As we used to say in the Army "close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades". Such a comment is usually proferred to denegrate folks who also have a real job to do as just being picky and as an excuse for poor work. It doesn't seem to matter whether the request is for $150 or $1.5 mil, there are always the folks who think it's good enough even though it isn't accurate or complete.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

ro_sie, I am staying away from smart phones for now....I get notices, and this one was late for some reason as well...on my laptop. So I figure I'll just check every day.... NC, now you have me thinking I should take a couple of fishing poles out west with me, for when my parts ache from hiking I can just sit and fish and smoke and sleep....Hmmm, maybe I'll just do that instead of hiking...Nope Linda won't have that! Hope all is well. Oh, yea, I think I hooked up with a guy who washes RV's and can do mine at the park. trying fro Tuesday...more on that later, like Wednesday! bye

RE: Upset with Pooler, Georgia Camping World Service

I'm glad they are finally taking care of you. No one should have to go through what you have and are still enduring to get their rig repaired. Hopefully you have inspired CW corporate to make a few changes at this facility. Congrats on getting your rig back and hopefully properly repaired. Enjoy. I thought your final word was in the post before, or perhaps in the "I'm done" line in your response to texan. Since that doesn't appear to be the case we'll press on here. Really, to be clear and with apologies to the OP, our back and forth is now less about the OP's issue with CW, which we are all glad is more or less resolved, and more about the accuracy of your statement. BTW, jallen4 seems to be saying something very similar to what I said in my prior post. Your "statement" by which you stand, while true in the very grossest most macro sense, was somewhat obtuse and I believe needed a tiny bit more explanation to clarify that there are steps in between which might be required to accomplish "having it anytime he wanted". Prompting my first response and I daresay jalllen4's as well. Fact's, while often inconvenient nevertheless remain. I believe a little context wrapped around any statement helps to clarify things a bit. It's possible that some folks might misinterpret your declarative and as a result in a different situation be delivered of a different outcome than the one the OP experienced with CW. Not all situations are similar and not all are handled as amicably as the OP's.

RE: Upset with Pooler, Georgia Camping World Service

Obviously it did not get to that as the OP stated he has picked up his rig. Time to move on people.Gee, I thought it was the Moderator's job to tell members when enough is enough...glad you cleared that up for me. Rollnhome - I think you are overly naive...and I agree with Texan completely. Perhaps you have never walked into a shop - of any kind, where your item is in for repair and demanded to have it returned where there is an issue of payment or hard feelings that have developed over a period of time. Believe me, you are probably not going to get it back without satisfying the shop as to the amount of the bill. You might be the owner...but the shop has possession and if they refuse to turn it over, you essentially have only one means of recourse... by going to the proper authorities and proving your case and having them assist you in the return of your property. Unless of course you are willing to walk into the shop and threaten to take the item by force. The shop has your whatever, and they are entitled to be paid for thier services before they release it....if you hassle them hopefully the most that would happen is that they would call the local police....worst case is you might be "escorted" from the premises. Assuming they are asking for reasonable payment...pay it and take your property....otherwise get yourself a lawyer. Because that may be the only way you have of getting it back. Another thought, and I am not a lawyer nor have I played one on Television; however, I know that in some states and in certain circumstances a shop can actually sell "your" property to satisfy an unpaid bill. Yes there are legal procedures which must be completed but property can be sold to satisfy a "mechanics lien".

RE: Queen Mattrass Replacement or Topper ?

We bought this 4" memory foam topper after the first camping trip with ours in late 2011. That horrible mattress was a killer. This topper made a would of difference. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spa-Sensations-4-Memory-Foam-Mattress-Topper/4569413 X2 I bought the topper at Wally World and it has made it possible to actually get a good nights sleep in the TT.

RE: Two strikes on GS ERS

We had a chinese tire throw a belt on I-49 in Louisiana today. Called GS ERS and got put on hold for well over a half hour. We were right at the Exit 46 in one mile sign, going south. After an ridiculous amount of questions about where we were and maybe 45 minutes on the phone they flat out told us we were out of luck, no service for us. Now I could maybe understand this if I was 50 miles out on the Hole in the Wall road near Escalante UT. Not that we'd have a cell phone signal but we were on an Interstate not that far from Opalousas and Lafayette. Last year were were right on the Florida Georgia border on I75. Another spot not exactly on the far side of beyond, when we had a flat on a different TT. This time we were told it would be 90 minutes before the truck got there. They never showed up. Calling GS ESE got the reply that they would check into it and get right back to us. They never did. We ended up changing the tire ourselves. Something is rotten in GS ESE land.\ Is it ERS job to insure the service truck shows up or just to make the contact and get someone to agree to come to your location? I expect if you had called the same service company directly maybe the results may have been the same. Maybe the service company had a past billing conflict with the ERS call center and just said OK with not intent to show up. While all ERS call centers want to make paying customers happy I was not under the impression they could do more than to take a company out of their DB who failed to keep their paying customers happy. It seems some expect more than the ERS company is selling. Not sure there is a 'results' clause in the contracts? Perhaps by the time your info gets passed down the line to person number 5 some key info got dropped? If one fixes their problem and leaves how can they know the service truck never showed? Yes, it most definitely is the ERS company, GS or anyone else to ensure that a provider of the service actually shows up to perform the service. I haven't read in detail but I bet the contract doesn't say "you pay us money and we'll make phone calls until some towing/tire changing/ mechanicing company agrees to dispatch help...and then we have fulfilled our part of the contract"

Hey NC, Congratulations to you and Kathy !!! I didn't know you guys were going to the great WV. Enjoy the relaxation. The weather up here in the mountains has been real good, a little rain here and there sunshine the rest of the time. Got most of the preparations for the trip completed. More later.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

I am definitely not getting notices timely. I got ro_sies 8/2 and didn't get another one until the one she posted this afternoon...no notices for four dyas. I gotta check this out. Anyway we are definitely staying busy getting stuff done. We did have a great breakfast with NC and Kathy on Sunday and a great visit after that. NC, great guy that he is gave me a shade for our awning. That is going to come in handy on the trip. ro_sie, we need to figure a way to get together. May be the best chance is when Mower shows up cause we are leaving on 8/20 for out west. Mower it looks like we might be able to hook up when you get here. We are due back in Maggie on 9/29 so it looks good. See you all later, Larry

RE: Have my first questions

Have the EZ lube fittings on our TT but still prefer to repack by hand. Bearings and brakes get inspected every Spring after de-winterizing and we found that repacking every other year works well for us. You can do them yourself or take rig in to have them done, but I've heard horror stories where they were not done properly by the garage and causing bearing failure soon after. Many on the forum use an infrared thermometer to check bearing/hub temps while on the road. X2 on the infrared thermometer. They are $29 at Harbor Freight and mine lives in the center console of my truck. When I pull in after a long drive I shoot the TV and TT brakes/tires and TT bearings. Only takes a second and if something has been getting hot you will know immediately. X3, I check mine evry time I stop.

RE: Suggestions or Opinions about RV Covers

I have an ADCO. I "store" my TT at an RV park and I use the cover during the winter. It definitely helps. I am thinking about using it all year. It is not imo "easy" to put on as you must get on th roof to put it on. However, it isn't difficult either.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Cloudy, overcast, raining here in the mountains. Lot's of work to do but will have to wait until the rain moves out. Glad to see that the 4 of us are still alive and kickin. Hoping to be able to hook up with Mower when he comes. NC, you seem to be gettin in a lot of quality time up in W; mowing, fishing, swimming and is that a new genny that you hauled up there? 3 more weeks till we head west for a hopefully great vacation. Mower, I sure hope all those darn fires don't get you. I can sympathize with folks having to go through that, having lived in "Hurricane Alley" down in S Fla most of my life. Hard to say which of these natural disasters is worse for folks, fllods, hurricanes, forest fires, tornadoes...I gues it deosn't much matter what rips your home apart...it's still ripped apart. ro_sie, you sure are getting a lot of cheap labor at your place. And don't be out doing any midnight racing just to get NC's goat. Sayanora

RE: Well you say Ask Marcus??

Someone who habitually neglects the maintenance of their vehicles can hardly be labled a person with "a bad run of luck". Which is precisely why an ers provider has to be allowed to evaluate on a case by case basis. You miss the point....we are not saying there shouldn't be an evaluation and determination...we are simply saying "don't lie to the folks about what you are doing" Make sense? Just be up front and honest about your policies....I cannot think of a business that does that. Perhaps there is one and if so someone will be happy to correct me. But when the GS folks come on here and try to parse the words to make it appear as though they don't. They could and should simply say we will decline to renew your contract if we believe you are abusing the servcie based on our review of your use. It's not hard to do and might actually weed out those who are abusing the system.

RE: Well you say Ask Marcus??

Thank you for the post Gearitis. There is no usage limitaion currently on our programs but as with most if not all roadside assistance program we review accounts for excessive use. It is an important tool that allows us to the price down for all of our members and effects less than 2% of our over all member base. Each case is looked at on a individual basis and reviewed by a member of management prior to any changes to a member's account status. If anyone has additional questions concerning this topic please feel free to contact member services at 800-842-5351. Thanks, Zach So essentially the unlimited number that was quoted to me when I bought in was false. So it's kind of like a piƱata filled with gas, hit it a few times you might be OK, but then one of these hits your gonna get burned. Interesting at least with the other guys they tell us when we are screwed.Interesting how Zach says "There is no usage limitaion currently on our programs and follows it up with "but as with most if not all roadside assistance program we review accounts for excessive use." and closes with "Each case is looked at on a individual basis and reviewed by a member of management prior to any changes to a member's account status." Sounds like a politician to me. So that what sounds like a No is really a Yes.

RE: insurance?

Ditto....no claims, so no rate increases....not sure what would happen if there was a claim? Seems OK, and probably about the same as most, so rate does matter, and $200 is some cash you can use to go camping!!:) Plus, I have dreams about Flo.....but don't tell DW:B Plus, I have dreams about Flo ............ RE: Well you say Ask Marcus??

I know for a fact that in the past they have dropped people for what they consider overuse. I don't know if the policy has changed under the new management team. PaulPaul, I wonder if there is something in the "fine print" that outlines what is an acceptable useage. If not they have a lot of nerve dropping anyone....or not renewing is probably more correct...otherwise it's a gotcha!

RE: Chattanooga Camping World

So I stopped by today. Other than the two girls worrying about eating McDonalds they were friendly enough and Rang me up fairly quickly so they could get back to eating. ...not a winning endorsement. I don't want to see an employee handling my purchases with fingers that have been in their mouth, especially in my presence. Why were they not eating in the break room? Is the store so short-staffed that employess are working through their breaks/lunch? I would have asked the cashiers why they are eating out on the sales floor, thanked them, then headed to the store mananger (or whoever is in charge at the time) and chastised them for allowing it. Outside of a bottle of water, coffee or soda, staff at any company should not be eating food while out on the sales floor. And that is where you went off the rails assuming there IS someone in charge....my theory is that the inmates are running the asylum

RE: Camping Box - Stuff Container

Got real tired of having "camping stuff" cluttering the garage during camping season. I went a little overboard. Had a new 1/4" thick bumper welded on the rear of the trailer. They also welded three 2" receivers to the top of the bumper. Went to a local steel shop and had them cut me three 2" tubes for the receivers. Bought a folding aluminum ramp off of Overstock for the base. Got frame bolts and a diamond plate tool box from Tractor Supply and bolted it all together. It holds everything! - and I can swap it out and haul my scooter back there when needed. More to it than this, but you get the idea. I still put the coolers and odds and ends in the truck bed. Man, how those "odds and ends" add up... Sorry no pics yet. I'll take some and add to post when able. MaxLove to see the pics of this. And odd's and ends are what I need to corral.

The trip to the Glacier/Waterton Hamfest went well. A couple of minor glitches (7 to be exact) noted in the Southwind, it goes to the dealer tomorrow to get them fixed. Hopefully the extended warranty covers them all!Mower, glad to hear that you made up and back and hopefully had a great time. Minor stuff is just an incovenience, as long as those things didn't leave you stranded on the highway they are minor.
