RE: New tires differant PSI??

For whatever it's worth, our coach has Bridgestone 245x70r19.5 load range "G" tires, and Bridgestone's load inflation chart states a minimum of (80psi) for their load range "G" tires. The tire sidewall reflects MAX load inflation-110psi. After weighing our coach we found 80psi is more than adequate to support its weight. Good luck and safe travels

RE: norcold 1200LRIM

You say the cooling unit was replaced, if your freezer section holding at "0" but the fresh food section isn't cooling down, it may be possible they didn't seal the cooling unit properly on the back, and/or failed to use thermal paste on the coils where they fit against the the back of the refrigerator. Hopefully dougranier will see this post and be able to help with your problem Best of luck and safe travels...

RE: Onan Marquis 5500 generator

Had the same problem with our 2000 coach 3 years ago. The problem turned out to be the fuel line from the tank had cracks in it and was sucking air, no gas. Replaced fuel line and now works just fine...so from what you describe, it's possible that may be the problem in your case. Good luck and keep us posted on the fix.

RE: Tires

One think to keep in mind is, your tires are the weakest link between your coach and the pavement. When replacing tires on our coach, I'm more concerned with tire quality for safety than saving a few $$$. I only use Bridgestones on ours. Best of luck with your choice of tires and safe travels...:)

RE: Norcold 1201 LRim cooling unit

Our Norcold 1201 LRim is not cooling! We are looking at replacing the cooling unit! Has anyone replaced using a remanufactured unit? Anyone ever had any dealings with RV IceBox.com? They were half price of a new unit and have a 3 year warranty. We are in TX and won't head for home for another 3 weeks! We need a fridge! LOL if you know of a good place for this please let me know. Thanks for any help, Bren Our 1200LRIM cooling unit lasted for 12 years, but had to replace it last August while in WA state. We ordered one of those cooling units built by the Amish folks from the RV cooling unit warehouse. Very impressed with the quality and so far it works great as we can now use a lower setting on the temp control. Good luck and safe travels... :)

RE: Ride-Rite air springs

Had the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags installed on front and rear of our 2000 coach on the F53 chassis primarily as a supplement to the rear springs. I run 80 to 90psi in rear and around 15psi in front. Before installing the air bags, we already had Koni FSD shocks on our front suspension which resulted in a significant improvement in ride comfort. Addition of the front air bags seemed to help a slight bit more in enhancing ride comfort in the cockpit area. Installation of the air bags certainly wouldn't hurt anything. Good luck and safe travels..

RE: Tires

Has any one installed Hercules H series tires on your motorhome? I've met a couple different rv'ers whom give them good recommendations. I have been using them for 4 years. OK by me. Just stay AWAY FROM all gas stations in southern Utah on I15. Friggin crooks every, one. Care to elaborate a bit on the crooked gas stations on I-15 in Southern Utah:?

RE: Class A???

Hello there- This question is for those who own a class A motorhome. are you guys are really happy with the purshed of your class A, even if you only get to use it 3 or 4 times per season? is it worth paying all that money,or should I wait till I retire?:@ We retired in 1993 and bought our 1st coach Feb 1995 and upgraded to a new coach in 2000. And yes, happy we bought even though we only use it 2-3 times a year. We usually travel to a single destination of roughly 3,000 miles round trip where we stay for 3-4 months. Lots of good deals on used coaches at this time, prices may or may not be higher when you retire and decide to make your purchase. Personally if I found a coach before I was ready to retire that suits my requirements and the price was right, I wouldn't hesitate buying it. Good luck with your decision..:)

RE: A gas chassis question.....

I am active on several RV forums and just heard of something that I have never seen, or heard of, but wonder if anyone here may have. There is a fellow who says that he owns a 1982, Pace Arrow, that is on a GM chassis with a 454, and which has 19.5" wheels. Has anyone ever heard of that? I owned an RV on a 1987 GM chassis and it had 16" wheels, which I thought was the case for all of the 80's & 90's P-30 chassis? Someone tell me, is that possible, and if so, was this done by some previous owner? Thanks for any help you can give. Hey Kirk, good to see you on the forum. Our first coach, a 1984 Airstream 34.5' on the GM P30 chassis had 19.5" wheels. If I'm not mistaken the Ford chassis of that era used 16.5" wheels. Jim

RE: Ice maker water valve

Take a picture of it and send it to me in a pm . I might be able to send you one or direct you to which one you need. No need to send a picture as there are two links of the valve on this page a couple of posts before or after yours. PM me if you want to follow up on this. Thanks to all it is good to have a resource like this site. Did not think about an appliance store or Lowe's but the valve is 120v 20amp. I thought that 86 bucks was to high nothing against PPL as they have done me well in the past. Thanks JimR Jim, I just ordered the valve this AM from Any RV parts and requested overnight shipping which cost a bit extra. Total cost $45.59. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Best of luck... RE: Ford V10 Engines

For whatever it's worth, our 13 year old 2000 v10 powered coach has 75,000 miles and so far no plug or tranny seal leak issues. Seems to be a pretty dependable power train...

RE: Which would you choose: Monaco or Newell?

Without hesitation I'd get the Newell if I were able to afford it. In Oct.of 2004, we toured their factory in Oklahoma at the invite of Sam Robinson VP of Marketing & Sales. A Mr. Dave Prince took us on a guided tour of their facility. IMO unexcelled quality in the coach build. The only downside is they're a very heavy coach which could impact fuel mileage. The GVWR of a 45' coach is probably around 52,000 lbs or more. The engine used in their earlier models is most likely the 500hp Detroit diesel, along with a 20kw diesel powered generator. Don't know about the Executive, but the Newell uses pneumatic seals on their glide-outs and entry door. Some of the older models have the Mid-entry which I prefer. In a heartbeat I would choose the 01 Newell over the 07 Executive. Here's a link to the Newell site where presently they have a 2000 pre-owned coach for sale... http://www.newellcoach.com/newell-coaches/coach-558/ Good luck with your choice and let us know your final pick..:)

RE: Help with 2 models

Although I have a coach on the Ford chassis, between the two brands mentioned, I would also vote for the Winnebago. Goood luck with your choice and safe travels...

RE: Koni vs Bilstein

I installed the Koni FSD's on our front suspension only in Jan 2007 and so far they're still giving us a comfortable ride. If I'm not mistaken, (which often I am) I believe Bilstein now has a shock with special valving similar to the Koni FSD. It's called the Bilstein's Comfitrac® Working Piston. http://www.bilsteinus.com/products/motorhome-heavy-truck/b6-46mm-shocks.html Good luck with your choice..:)
